TetraDrive - free multiband distortion unit

It's 64-bit VST3 plugin for Windows but i have posted the source code on Github if you want to compile it for your system (MacOS/Linux) or study the code yourself: https://github.com/dadda123/TetraDrive

TetraDrive is a faithful emulation of a popular multiband distortion unit from the early 2000s. It splits the signal into four frequency bands and drives each one through a waveshaper, then sums them back together.

Features

• Four bands with independent Drive and Level, five waveshaper curves, Input and Output gain.
• Live spectrum analyzer of the incoming signal (4096, 8192 or 16384 point FFT) with the bands drawn on top.
• Drag crossovers and band levels directly on the spectrum, real filter curves are shown for every band.

I am very much a beginner but Ive figured out how to make FM leads and some squelchy acid sounds, but I cant figure out how to make those gritty aggressive leads you hear in old school south african twilight, and I also cant find any tutorials. Some examples of the sound I mean (with timestamps):

Id also like to know if theres anything special about the melodies going on here, since they all seem to have a certain flow that makes them sound aggressive.

Kick and bass note on the same beat.

These days its common for the kick and bass to be KBBB KBBB , much has been learnt about making them fit together nicely but i am wondering about your approach to when the bass note lands on the kick, it was more common in Goatrance i think especially Shiva Shidapu.

My approach would be to reduce the 1st and maybe 2nd harmonic of the bass note that lands on the kick and maybe rotate the phase a little to see what works.

What is your opinion on getting the kick and bass note to blend when hitting together?

I would love to know, i will include examples of the kind of basslines i mean.

Any idea what method is used to create the sort of ''smearing'' effect that can be heard on the FM sound at the very beggining of the track?

I dont think its AMP ENV with soft attack but i could be wrong, maybe its created with drawn volume envelopes to create the groove?

Can anybody give me any tips on creating the grid passage from this track? I’m talking about the sound that is playing as soon as the track starts at 00:00 seconds, not the pad but the lead/squelch.

I can deduce that it’s a single voice that gets various reverb throws via a send etc

I just can’t figure out the actual articulations

One of you experts will know what type of sound is used

Looking for a Forest / Darkpsy Cubase Template or Project — 150 BPM+
Hey all,
I’m looking for a Cubase project/template for Forest or Darkpsy, mainly as a learning resource.
I’m happy to pay someone for a personal template or project setup if they have something solid and are willing to share it. Definitely not expecting anyone to hand over their workflow for free.

I’m after something dark, funky, psychedelic and 150 BPM+. Parvati Records is a massive inspiration for me, so that kind of direction would be perfect.
I’ve already tried a lot of the commercially available psytrance project files, but most of them are much more MainStage / commercial sounding than what I’m looking for.

There seem to be more projects available in Ableton, but my Ableton skills are nowhere near my Cubase skills, so I’d get far more value from being able to properly dig into a Cubase session and understand the routing, processing and workflow.

Stock plugins, third-party plugins, or a mixture of both are completely fine. I’m not bothered if I don’t own every plugin used either — I’m mainly interested in understanding the routing, chains, processing choices and overall approach.

Things I’d love to see in the project would be stuff like:

Bus and group routing
FX sends / returns
Processing chains
Drum and bass processing
Sidechain / dynamics setup
Atmosphere / synth chains
Pre-master / master routing
General organisation and workflow

I’m not trying to use this as a shortcut to learning production. I just find that opening up a full project and reverse-engineering how someone else works is one of the best ways for me to learn.
It doesn’t need to be a finished track either. Even a solid personal template with useful routing and processing already set up would be great.

If anyone knows of any producers, Patreons, Gumroad pages, courses, or project files in this style, please send them my way.
And if anyone here has a Forest / Darkpsy Cubase template or project they’d be willing to sell, feel free to DM me.

I recreated Twisted some months ago, and made the midi pack available to download for free. There seems to be a steady number of people downloading it, so I though maybe I should do a video on recreating the album for anyone interested. Since it's a whole album, I don't think the video should be very detailed (it should be about an hour long, probably- more than that would be too tiring to watch). Are there any specific things you'd like to see?

Im talking about the hi hat sounding thingy, you can hear it clearly around 0:37 and through out most of the song, sounds almost like white noise through a phaser or something, idk would like some ideas
