Old school PS ONE slim modding

Post image

Had this since I was a kid and always wondered how I could play games off CD roms my grandparents got me from the computer swap-meet markets. Learned much later in life they got someone to "chip" it. Always wondered what exactly they did to mod it to make it work as this was about 25 years ago. Finally curiosity got to me and I opened it up. Some very old school and questionable quality of one of the soldering wires 😅 but none the less interesting to see as I'd expect now a days there are much simpler methods to modding it haha

Haha, nice. I sold my childhood psone for a Motorola mobile phone back then. This was as I was entering high school and already had the ps2. I wonder if it still works wherever it is now.

Cool! When it starts having trouble booting games, showing the red "Insert a PlayStation disc" replace the capacitor C705.

C731 can also cause this issue.

Whoever did it actually didn't do too bad of a job for back then. I've seen some pretty bad jobs.
