Hopefully this is the right place to share this, if not apologies.
I am 37 years old. I have been using psilocybin mushrooms since I was in my early twenties. They have always treated me well. I have had some trips that were a little scary, but never a terrible experience. I would usually do around 2-3 grams at a time. When I first started for about two years or so, I would get a little nauseous, and threw up a couple times, but by the third year this nausea subsided. I continued to do them about two or three times a year. Sometimes once a year. They seemed to help me understand my anxiety and I would say that it helped me a great deal in understanding myself and what's important to me.
Fast forward to about two months ago.
I met someone and became very good friends with them. They had some mushrooms, and suggested we do some. I naturally said yes. Had a great trip, albeit a little mild. Since then, we proceeded to trip every other weekend, or twice a month with various strains. The trips were great. We'd usually take 2 grams each, and then more throughout the night. One night we went through about 14 grams between the both of us, in four doses throughout the night.
Then something happened during my last trip that I do not understand, and was absolutely terrifying.
We each took 3.5 grams. Usually it takes me a bit for the effects to start. So long that my friend will wait thirty minutes after my dose. For some reason, this dose hit me within 5 minutes, and I became disoriented, and my stomach felt very strange, but no crazy visuals. I started to have breathing issues. It was like breathing was extremely heavy, and i found myself exhaling, drifing off to sleep and then it was as if i would wake up and "remember" to breathe. After about 30 minutes of this I got very nauseous, and felt as if I had to throw up. I communicated this to my friend, and asked them to get me something to throw up in. I tried, but was unable to vomit.
Then, all of a sudden I felt an extremely strong vibration and numbness in my chest. I then felt same vibration and an even stronger numbness in my forearms. The closest thing I have felt to this, is like when your arm falls asleep, and you start to lose feeling in it, but it was both my forearms at once. I started to shake my hands, to try and get blood flowing. The vibration and numbness kept growing until my forearms got extremely tight and dense. They were hard as a rock and it felt as if they were going to explode. They eventually got so numb that I lost motor function, and i could barely squeeze my hands or move my fingers. I began to drip sweat profusely. My friend went to get a pill for nausea. The next day after we were done tripping, they said that when they came back to give the pill to me, that i was completely white and had lost all color in my face. When they tried to give me the anti nausea pill, I was unable to take it from their hand. They had to put it in my mouth for me. I was so dizzy and lightheaded, that I was unable to stand. This feeling of numbness and vibration lasted for about, three or five minutes and I was about to have them dial 911, but it subsided. I regained the ability to stand, and we went to lay down in the bedroom. The walk from the living to the bedroom made me extremely dizzy and I began to feel nauseous again. So I went to the bathroom, in hopes to vomit, and the vibration and numbness in my arms started to come back, but this time it wasn't as strong and only lasted about one minute, then subsided. This cycle of being so dizzy that I would get nauseous and sweat profusely continued on for about the next two or three hours. Very slight visuals during this period, but nothing like i have experienced before.
Eventually I felt a little better, and thought a shower would help and took one with my friend near by. This seemed to help, but then it was as if the shower made me digest more of the dose or something, and I felt another peak, and the nausea came back, but without the vibration and numbness in my arms and chest this time, thankfully. After about an hour or two of sitting in the shower and sipping water, I got out and felt dizzy still, but was able to walk. I thought that watching some TV would help distract my brain from what was happening, so we did. After about thirty minutes or an hour, the dizziness subsided, and I finally began to feel a little "normal".
My friend did not experience any of this and had a completely typical trip, minus the fear they had from what i was going through. We ate the exact same mushroom. It was very large and weighed 7 grams. The strain is supposedly tidal wave.
Not sure what I'm seeking in posting this to be honest, maybe just some insight as to what happened. Im still trying to figure it out myself, and I thought maybe seeing others reactions or thoughts on it may help me do that.
Thank you in advance.
