Listen, I'm not a positive person generally but I'm feeling it this morning. Maybe it's the caffeine.

Brown Bee has officially taken the spot for the most expensive latte I’ve ever bought in Prov.

Paid $11 and some change for a small latte with skim milk. The cherry on top is they charged me a dollar for the skim milk. I’ve never paid extra for skim, anywhere. I haven’t even paid that much for a Nitro Bar drink, and they’re arguably a more popular spot. Still good croissant tho.

Also, unrelated, but a spot around there: 2 tacos for $13 is bonkers. Where are we heading with these prices?

FixMyPvd.org : A mobile friendly app that submits 311 reports

Post image
36 Upvotes

My fellow redditors please take heed:

I have made an app https://fixmypvd.org for submitting reports to the cities 311 system. The main advantage over the official app is that it's easier to use on your phone.

Basically it works like a middleman between you and the official app. It sends your reports to the city app, then it sends the cities (admittedly infrequent) updates back to you.

I was motivated to make this by seeing posts on this subreddit complaining about the city app and a desire to possibly appear on the local news.

WARNING This is not an official city project I am just a guy

WARNING I did my best but this is kind of a hard thing to test without being a jerk and spamming the city with false reports. If it bugs out I'll submit the reports by hand and shut it down.

Remember while it's important this app becomes popular so that I can appear on the local news the most important thing is that we help the city become aware of issues so please don't file fake reports or anything like that. Instead why not try texting 5-10 of your friends that there is an emergency and when they call to check on you telling them about this app.

Thank you for the updoots in advance.

Event skip the small talk at long live beerworks

Get cozy this fall with Skip the Small Talk - it’s a chill, sincere event focused on connection! We will be at Long Live Beerworks!

It’s a guided conversation event—think speed-friending vibes, but calmer and more intentional.

You rotate through short conversations with prompts that skip past surface-level small talk. It’s structured enough to make it easy, but relaxed enough to feel natural.

Most people come alone. The crowd tends to be thoughtful, open, and just… normal humans who want more community.

Here’s the link if you’re curious:

Going to Al Forno without a reservation?

My mom is coming to visit in early November and has wanted to go to Al Forno for awhile. I know some folks feel like it’s overrated but she wants to go so…

I just went to make a reservation for a Tuesday evening but the only slots are 9:00pm! Had no idea it would fill up that quickly.

If we went at like 5:30 on a Tuesday would we get seated?

Recommendations New friends & connections

Hello everyone, M 29 (tomorrow) looking to meet new friends and or that someone. Any recommendations on where to go? I don’t really like bars and don’t drink much honestly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Into more outdoors things like fishing, hiking, exploring, going to the range and open minded for new interests and hobbies. Vibe is more chill and laid back. Music taste is all over the place and not just one genre.

Recommendations Good shop for Tacoma in Rhode Island

Just having this suspension job coming up with my 1st gen. Got neither time nor budget for set of new tools so just wishing to get it done at a local shop. Relatively simple Bilstein upgrades both front and back, assembled coils. I have parts in hand already, therefore looking for a shop that takes customers part and is willing to work on it( usually they don’t due to some warranty issue)

Any recs? Thought about some maker spaces but time is just against me before winter hits…

loud vehicle (engine?) sounds at 4-6am everyday

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

i moved near central downtown in mid august because of issues with my previous landlord. i wear ear plugs and blast white noise/rain sounds so whatever the plugs don’t block, are covered by the sounds. this works for all the shouting and music coming from nearby bars at night.

but every single day, between 4am to 6am (most often around 6-630am), i hear this extremely loud whirring sound likely from a truck or vehicle or kinds. i can’t see from my windows what exactly it is, but i haven’t had a single night since august where i wasn’t woken up at 4-6am by this. it goes on for usually 15 minutes nonstop. all of my windows are closed and locked, fyi, and i live on the third floor of a building. it’s driving me insane especially because i’ve always been a light sleeper, and even the ear plugs and white noise aren’t able to block it.

would this be a valid reason to submit a report to the PVD311 portal? since it’s clearly happening during the 2-7am quiet hours code. has anyone experienced making a complaint? how likely are they to actually help resolve the issue?

Housing Apartment recommendations

Hey all,

My girlfriend and I are looking to move to Providence early next year and starting our apartment search. We’d love recommendations from people who’ve actually lived there.

What we’re looking for:

  • 2 bedroom
  • Near the water or with a great view (skyline, river, etc.)
  • Safe, walkable neighborhood. This is our #1 priority.
  • EV charging in the garage would be a big plus

What would help most:

  • Buildings or areas you’d recommend or avoid, and why
  • How management and maintenance actually are
  • Any amenities worth noting?
  • Neighborhoods we might be overlooking

Edit: price range 2500-3200

Thanks in advance!
