Support Boyfriend wants me to have an abortion at 38

He says I’m too depressed and have too much anxiety. I don’t want to have an abortion and never been pregnant. Don’t know what to do. We have been together for 2 years and he is a decent partner except for this.

Discussion The fact that abusive men can get shared custody is why we need abortion

I don't think the general public is aware of/discusses this much but as someone who doesn't have kids, I was so shocked and scared to learn that abusive men/criminals can get shared custody or visitation rights of their children.

This effectively means that the abusive man is in a woman's life forever and can continue to make a woman's life hell.

I've personally had to cut off toxic non romantic relationships so I cannot imagine having to be tied to an abuser forever. There's also the fact that the rates of murder are significantly higher for pregnant women. 🥲

Abusive partners also sometimes use children to trap their partner into staying.

I read an NYTimes article of a husband who waited until his wife was 9 months pregnant to admit he'd been having an affair. The calculated nature of that was chilling knowing that he purposefully picked the moment she was most vulnerable and would forgive him.

They know how much women want to make their family work and give their kids a 2 parent home.

We need abortion so pregnancy and children are not weaponised against vulnerable women.
