Seeking Playtesters My small horror PnP game is ready for playtesting. Anyone want to dig some graves?

Last week I asked how to find playtesters, and you gave me a lot of good ideas. A couple of people are already lined up for testing. Thank you for that. So here it is.
Yes, Master is a small 2-page solo roll and write. You dig a trail through a cemetery over 5 nights and snatch bodies for your master. You need two dice, a pen and about 15 to 20 minutes.
I am looking for a few more people to play it once or twice and answer 5 short questions. If you want to try, just comment and I will send you the link. The plan is to release it for free on Halloween.

It was close but Wren was able to blast her way out of Purgatory. Only 1 HP remaining at the end! Had to share the second picture because I haven't colored Wren's Infernal side yet.

PnP Game Suggestions Are there any, possibly low-footprint print and play network-building / industrialization games in the vein of Brass, Nucleum, Power Grid and other similar games? - With solo mode

I love Nucleum and this type of euro in general. I'm looking through PnP games and cannot really find anything in the genre of either "networking industrial euros" or 18xx games.

Something with solo and if possible, preferably low-footprint (eg. game board is one A4 sheet) in these genres would be really cool to play after work with a coffee.

Looked through PostMark Games, PostCard Games since they were the best possibility for games like this but they don't have anything like it sadly.

I'm even thinking about maybe designing one myself if I cannot find any.

Seeking Playtesters Demo and Publishing Release...It's finally READY!!!! - Journal Entry 11

I have finished the demo and a testing system and published on itch io, RPGTrader, DriveThruRPG, Wargame Vault, and Buy Me a Coffee pages!

It feels so good to have it ready. 5 Cities each with its own fun mission ideas.

The cover was such a pain to decide on. After asking Reddit threads for opinions, I decided to go with a very simple look. And it came out with the vibe I wanted.

Now, this is still a work in progress, but I am at a point I can share it. It will have minor changes and updates as time goes. For instance, I will add the link to the Google My Maps for the whole thing. And I will update the page of the map as more and more cities are added.

I am extremely proud I completed this and did not use AI in the art. Which I believe would have made this go faster. Much faster. But I want this to be something I created on my own. The art could definitely be better, but it is good enough for my look at it and say I am proud of it.

If you are interested in trying it out and want to give me some feedback, you can find it on the platforms listed above. Just look for the Smash List. (Yep I am going to keep the title).

Please note my wife did find some errors which will be corrected in the next update. But if you find some please do not hesitate to let me know.

This is the first time I have done anything like this and I know there are some things I missed.

Next Phase and Expansion Plans

Next phase is something I am working on right now and fingers crossed hope I can get all of them done before the end of the year.

I am adding more missions to each city already on the campaign. And most importantly I am adding more cities in the campaign to choose from.

I just finished drafting the ideas for the rest of Fort Worth and it came to 8 missions in total. I need to get the playtesting and art done on these. And just so everyone knows I use a mix of Forgotten West, Zombicide, and Tombstone for my testing.

The goal is to add 6 new cities, and about 100 more missions to choose from.

Also I wanted to get the interactive map on Google My Maps done before the end of the month.

For the future releases, I am planning on grouping them by states. So you get the state book and use that essentially as an add-on.

I hope you all enjoy using the system as much as I do!

Thank you again!!

P.S. I didn't add links as I am not sure it is allowed. If you can't find it feel free to DM and I will send it your way. It is a pdf.

PnP Links SEP - Circle Clash - is a tactical card game for two players, played in a shared circle.

SEP – Circle Clash - Free Tactical Card Game for 2 Players

Hello everyone!

I’m an independent game designer from the Netherlands, and I’d like to introduce **SEP – **Circle Clash, a free tactical card game for two players.

In SEP, players build a shared circle of playing cards, creating combinations of matching values or sequences to earn tokens.

The unusual feature is that combinations can be formed across the entire circle, not just between adjacent cards.

Action cards introduce unexpected changes, creating new opportunities for both players. Timing, tactical decisions and anticipating your opponent’s moves are essential.

The ultimate goal is to collect all seven tokens: SEP!

Game information:

  • Players: 2
  • Playing time: approximately 20–30 minutes
  • Age: 10+
  • A standard deck of playing cards and seven tokens

Free rules:
https://www.spelspelspel.nl/sep

Rules are available in English, Dutch, German, Spanish and French.

PnP Question How do you share tokens for PnPs?

I'm currently making a game, where color tokens are needed, each player has 16 tokens with his color. it is somewhat relevant that they are not just a flat paper, since they will go into a bag or bowl to then be randomly drawn, I think it would be pretty bad to do it with simple colored paper.

It's my first time making a board game and I never played a PnP before. So I don't know how much effort people would be willing to put into making a PnP.

I guess what I'm trying is pretty common so how is it often handled?

What I did for myself is to make a simple compact origami with colored paper. But I really doubt people would be willing to make these things. It takes a lot of time.

PnP Game Design Designers: do people who buy your games also play them?

I've sold 100+ copies of my games, and I have no idea if anyone has played them beyond a couple of people who reached out.

I'm a cynical person by nature, so I suspect that people get excited, buy them, but never get them to the table. I don't judge them for that. It's often hard to find 60 free minutes, and they've probably got more important things to do.

But of course as a creator I crave validation. Is it a good game? What could I improve? It's a strange feeling when you sell that many copies and then hear nothing.

First play of Drawing Dead

Not done giving the cards their colored pencil treatment but wanted to give it a try. I really enjoyed it! Got kind of close to a win but those varmits done whooped me. It is a snap to learn and has a fun poker based mechanic for all your battles. It's a little like a wild west Balatro. I look forward to more plays!

PnP Techniques Arts and crafts time with my print & play version of Drawing Dead

U/Banjo_Fett tipped me off to this awesome looking game. The P&P version was only $5 but all that amazing art would have cost me fifty dollars in printer cartridges. So I chose to print it B&W but I felt like this game deserved better than that. So I broke out the colored pencils and got to work!

The second photo shows 2 completed cards with one all waiting for color. I'm loving how it's turning out but there are A LOT of cards in this game. Can't wait to get back to it and eventually play it!

Feedback Request I made a full match demonstration of Kravestorm (PnP Card Battler)

I've been working on Kravestorm, a print-and-play card game, and wanted to show what an actual match looks like.

So I put together a full simulated game between two players, with commentary covering the decisions, strategies, and interactions as the match unfolds.

It's not really a how-to-play tutorial, but more of a way to get a feel for the gameplay without having to learn all the rules first.

The game and starter decks are free to download, but for now I'd just love to hear what other card game players think of how it plays.

PnP Tools I made a free desktop app that re-spaces print-and-play PDFs so cards are easy to cut

Post image
123 Upvotes

Hi! I got tired of print-and-play files where every card is packed edge to edge: one cut is shared by two cards, a millimetre off ruins both, and there’s no room for bleed. So I built Gutterberg.

You open the PDF, mark where the cards are, and it makes new sheets with space between every card, at the exact original size, with the artwork untouched (it never turns your PDF into pictures, so text and art stay sharp).

What it does (right now):

  • Mark cards with a grid, draw them one by one (even tilted, for messy scans), or let “Detect pieces” find them for you
  • Pick which cards and how many copies, mix cards from several PDFs, choose A4/Letter/A3/etc.
  • Cut marks, bleed, and double-sided printing with card backs
  • Use PNG/JPEG/WebP images as cards too (e.g. 9 card images onto one A4 sheet)
  • Saves projects, updates itself, English and Spanish

It’s free for personal use, runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and the source is on GitHub:
https://github.com/JoaquinArruiz/Gutterberg

It’s early (0.9), so I’d love feedback: what PDFs give you trouble, and what features you’d want. Bug reports are very welcome through the GitHub issues. PLEASE if you find anything from the UI not intuitive, or a bug, or both, or anything to improve feel free to comment, open an issue, or anything!

(Heads-up: builds aren’t signed yet, so Windows/macOS will warn the first time you open it. The README explains how to get past that.)

Feedback wanted: covers and page layout for 4 printable solo journaling games (one d6, no combat)

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Each game is one year in one small place. In three of them you keep a place and people come to you: an inn on a quiet road, a lending library in a small town, a rope ferry on a cold river. In the fourth you drive a salt cart and meet people on the road.

An evening takes about twenty minutes. You roll a d6 for who turns up, roll again for what they want, then write three or four lines: what you gave them, what it cost, and what you didn't say. You never roll to see if you succeed. The die says what happens; you say what you did about it.

The last picture is one whole evening at the inn: a carter who comes every year, later than usual, with a horse that is clearly finished. He wants hot water, and it costs you a morning of the woodpile.

I'm not linking anything here. I'd just like to know what you think:

- Which cover would make you stop and look, and which one wouldn't?

- Do the covers look like the same family?

- Does the "one evening" page make sense at a glance, or is it confusing?

- Anything that looks off, too dark or too busy?

I make these myself, with the help of AI tools. Be as blunt as you like.

I made a 48-chapter solo mythological Roll & Write. Here is a free 8-page printable Prelude Demo for the community!

Post image

Hello everyone,

My name is Laz, and I am a solo indie board game designer from Greece. For the past year, I have been working on a passion project called Lithomachy: The 12 Divine Trials. It is a highly thematic, true solo Roll and Write / Print and Play campaign where you face the 12 Gods of Olympus across 48 interconnected chapters.

The project is 100 percent complete, but before launching the digital campaign, I really want to share a fully playable 8-page Prelude Demo chapter called "The First Seal" with this amazing community.
You can download the full high-resolution PDF for free here

All you need is a printed sheet, two standard dice, and a pencil. If you happen to try it, I would love to hear your feedback on the mechanics and balance! Thank you so much for your time and happy rolling!

Note: Information about the full 48-chapter campaign can be found in the comments below!

Thank you so much for your time and happy rolling!

No cover yet, but I did pick more cities for travel! Journal entry 10

Cover Work

The cover is not done yet. In fact, I have not even worked on it. It is safe to say I am pretty much avoiding it.

That led me to work on other things.

Equipment Mechanics

First, I got some suggestions from board game geeks that I should make the selling of equipment from the blacksmith more expensive than when the blacksmith buys from you. Or this will provide a loop while it breaks the game.

I am thinking of using a plus 4 on a 6D roll for the purchasing of new equipment. This way any time the player sells back to the blacksmith they have a chance to get some sort of deal.

For instance, you sell something for 6 since you rolled a 6. Then later to get the new equipment they need they would need to roll a 1 one to get a profit.

Railroad Network Expansion

The other thing I was working on was expansion and moving outward. This was helping me justify not working on the cover.

The goal is to cover the USA with a network of railroads that resemble the actual USA rail tracks from the periods.

And starting with the five cities I have, I worked on coming up with more mission ideas for those cities. And they are all based on historical events in some shape or form.

Here are the total mission ideas count for each of the five cities;
Fort Worth - 9
El Paso - 7
San Antonio - 10
Santa Fe - 9
Tombstone - 10

On top of these I started working on the Google My Maps. I am going to use the Google My Maps app as a content supplement used as a reference for the most up to date map.

But my favorite accomplishment this week was picking the other cities for Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Getting into the history of different cities is probably my favorite part of this journey. I get to learn new interesting facts and try to figure out if there is a way to add a scenario to the game.

I have picked 9 cities for Texas, 7 Cities from Arizona, and 6 cities from New Mexico (and yes, I picked Rosewell).

As much as I want to add more and more cities, I need to work in phases for my sanity and to prevent scope paralysis and not working on the system. I can always add more cities in the future. That is what I have to tell myself.

City Selections

Here are the cities I selected and mission ideas;

Arizona
Tombstone - 10
Phoenix - 8
Holbrook - 10
Flagstaff - 8
Prescott - 8
Yuma - 9
Tucson - 5

New Mexico
Santa Fe - 6
Silver City - 8
Socorro - 8
Gallup - 7
Chama - 6
Roswell - 7

I want to add a real quick piece of history I found out. There are documents of people seeing a cigar metallic shape craft in the sky at night in the 1890’s. And YES I am definitely using that somehow!!

Texas
Fort Worth - 9
San Antonio - 10
El Paso - 7
Galveston - 4
Denison - 7
Texarkana - 8
Corpus Christi - 7
San Angelo - 7
Amarillo - 8

Now keep in mind these numbers may change when I finish building them out.

Working on these was a great escape to postpone the cover. I know I need to get it done, I am just at a stump to make it work.

Goals for Next Week

So, my goals for next week, fingers crossed.

  • Get the cover done
  • Publish the whole thing
  • Come up with a cool name
  • And start drafting some of the missions per city.

Let me know what you think of the city selection for these states. Would you change any of them to something else?
