Community Post QuoteIQ and Forever Self Employed links are now completely banned from this subreddit.

Starting now QuoteIQ (previously restricted) AND Forever Self Employed AND Mike V (All About Pressure Washing) will be permanently banned from being mentioned or linked. Automod has been edited to hardblock any links or mentions of the two.

The reason for the banning is that QuoteIQ, All About Pressure Washing, and Forever Self Employed and (or someone working on their behalf) sent a modmail to us telling us to remove posts critical of both QuoteIQ AND Forever Self Employed and their owners or be subject to legal proceedings. The links to the three posts are seen here. Mike V from QuoteIQ and Justin from Forever Self Employed should be ashamed at trying this. They are apparently not happy that these posts are available to steer people from spending their hard earned money in a more meaningful way.

  3. https://www.reddit.com/r/pressurewashing/comments/10yizo8/has_anyone_purchased_forever_self_employed/

Here are some screenshots of the modmail messages they sent threatening legal action and DMCA takedowns:

Here is the person they hired off of Fiverr to send the messages and try the DMCA takedowns. Its clear the companies must be run by absolute clowns to be trying this is such a shit way. If they suceed in removing anything then ill just repost the posts. They clearly dont want negative info being visible when they get googled as its hurting their SEO because reddit shows up so high in the searches.

As a reminder, when starting out you do not need YouTube salesmen taking your money to learn how to properly clean in this industry. The info is out there on this subreddit and various pressure washer forums and groups. It just takes a little bit of googling with the proper terms to find it all freely available. These now banned companies exist solely to separate pressure washers from their money. Mike V has been pushing for his subscribers to come to reddit to post about their companies to comment and upvote each other.

This is my first new construction cleanup job that I need to quote, and I’d appreciate some advice from guys who have experience with these.
The job includes:

1,000 sq ft metal-sided building that needs washed
Concrete splatter on some of the metal siding

2,600 sq ft of concrete flatwork

600 linear feet of curbs

5,000–7,000 sq ft of asphalt drive-through that needs rinsed after paving

Water is available on-site. The contractor wants everything itemized separately on the quote.
What would you guys charge for each service? I’m in Indiana if that helps.

Also, what’s the best way to safely remove concrete splatter from painted metal siding? Any tips for cleaning new construction concrete

I primarily do window cleaning, but i'm hoping someday to pay a lad to continue my round as I do gutter jobs and pressure washing.
Because of this, I bought a loncin g420 recently. I have had a little experience with the first lad who taught me how to do windows gutters and pressure washing. I do need to buy a surface cleaner and a lot getter lance, as the turbo lance I got thrown in isn't the best, but it works.

I used a 3% hypo mix, followed by a 4.5% but there are still a lot of black algae spots.

This was just my parents patio, good place to test if anything was up with the pressure washer.

Equipment Ladder upgrade

Currently operating with a 16ft foldable ladder, and for the most part, I’ve been able to do plenty of jobs with that, but every once in a while, I’ve come across a house that I had to do gymnastics to get to the top gutter.

I’m in the market for a ladder, and I just want some help deciding if I could just get a 28ft ladder or would I just end up having to buy a 32ft or 40ft soon after.

What size ladders do you guys have?

Equipment Soft Wash Options

What’s everyone’s preferred method? Used boosters, 12v, and air.

Air is the most reliable and have it on a truck but looking for something similar to a booster for another truck for larger jobs and has the ability to rinse. Seems like the new p40’s have improved a lot but wanting to get some feedback.

Technical Questions What’s your process for dark siding with copper eaves?

Post image
4 Upvotes

How would we approach cleaning this exterior? It has dark horizontal siding, dark window trim, and copper eavestroughs.

Would you use detergent only? How would you apply it, how long would you let it dwell, and what precautions would you take around the copper and dark finish?

Equipment Long Gun vs Short Gun + Attachments

Post image
4 Upvotes

I currently have two guns- a gun with a long lance (threaded) for edging, etc and a short gun with a quick connect end that I use for everything else. My long gun has just given up on me (leaks when off trigger- confirmed to not be an o-ring issue). I would like to use the lance extension with my short gun so I don’t have to carry two guns. Rather, just one gun and all the attachments/nozzles that I need. This seems like the simplest solution but that begs the question: why do I not see everyone doing this?

Whats better? Using the short gun (suttner st-2305) for everything or keeping two designated guns?

Equipment How to Kill a Pressure Washer Pump Fast..

  1. Get a Pressure washer with a 'Built-in' Pressure Regulator/Unloader, Hook it up, run it, walk away with it still running for 5 minutes, and Done. ALL the seals are Cooked. 10 minutes.. oil leaks out. 15 minutes.. it goes 'Thunk'

  2. Plumb the above system to 'suck' water from a tank.. You'll have trouble getting it to Prime, the it gets hot, you get to your second job, and No Go.. it won't Prime itself, because the valves are Too Small to 'Suction-Feed'.. and..

  3. nobody told you to take the Thermal Relief Valve off, to keep it from Sucking Air, and you fry all the seals in 5 minutes trying to get it to prime itself.

  4. You buy a "Kit" to assemble yourself with No understanding of 'How Pumps Fail', and you fail to prime it, and run the Bypass to the Buffer Tank.

  5. You failed to get a Pressure Gauge with Adjustment instructions/ you don't read them anyway.

  6. You ask another contractor to Guess at what you should do Next.. installing His 'Perpetuating Mistakes'.

SOLUTION- Find a technically inclined Service Department guy that is willing to 'Explain' to you How Pumps Fail..

And buy a V-BELT Driven pump system with Big Bypass line, Big Feed Line, Pressure Gauge, Adjustment instructions, and a Supplier that Cares about Reliability, so you get a Chance to be a Reliable Supplier to YOUR customers.

Is this able to come off or is it just a permanent staining?

Quote Help Paint removal quote and question

Disclaimer: this might be too much info but my last post was taken down so I’m just being thorough.
Short and sweet info:
10x10 concrete pad with 8-10” trim , acrylic paint and sharpie removal. I’ve put in

I washed a house and got a call back the next day the daughter got ahold of some acrylic paint and sharpie and started an art project on the back patio I just cleaned. I’m newer and get my clients by word of mouth so I surface cleaned the back patio, sidewalk, and driveway for free already. I haven’t been called for paint removal before but I love doing research and learning new things. I set expectations and warned the chemicals I’m using could cause damage before I started. I tried for about 3 hours on and off scrubbing and using some of my normal pressure washing & cleaning chems bc they have small children and are very health/safety conscious nothing worked. So I called them back out and let them know I’m breaking out some heavier chems and the sealant on the trim is probably going to get messed up, they said they would get it re sealed which I’m also hoping to get that job. Anyways I tried a few chemicals but didn’t want to overdo it so I went light and used a lot of scrubbing with a wire brush and elbow grease. It was working but I was losing daylight so I busted out this $30 wire drill brush I didn’t want to open cause I was going to return it. I would say I got 99% of it off it was a giant pain in the butt but I have to go back when I have light to get the rest. The pictures don’t show a lot of bleed on the concrete from them trying to clean with soap and water after it was already too late. I also haven’t got to the table yet because I don’t know what to use to get it off without stripping the manufacturers paint also. I did a test spot underneath with some chems that didn’t damage. but I didn’t get around to putting it on the actual paint yet because when I warned him in my mess that pain up, he said don’t worry about it. I would really like to be able to get that for them, though. They both own small businesses. and have a lot of connections, so I’m trying to impress. Any advice from experience from anybody?

Pressure washed my driveway with an electric pw I got off of TikTok shop (😂) and some bleach. The bottom of the driveway is before obviously. I didn’t have a surface cleaner or anything and got it done with just the green tip in about 4 hours, I feel pretty proud of myself. Picking up a 4gpm washer and a surface cleaner from harbor freight next week as this has motivated me to go all in.

Troubleshooting Hey yall. I’d like to clean the garage floor. My mom is afraid I’ll remove the sealer or pit the cement with the pressure washer we have. So I’m here to ask, what do you suggest based on my pics?

I’ve included pics of the pressure washer, the floors and the cleaning stuff I found. My stepdad was the building maintenance man, but he passed away, so I’m trying g to make use of his equipment. I’d really love to clean the garage up, but def don’t wanna mess up the concrete.

I’ve read that I should I rent an attachment for the washer that spins on the floors so as not to put the cement. Is that what you suggest?

Business Questions Is this job as satisfying as it looks?

I was recently visiting a friend and he had rented a pressure washer to do some house work but was too busy to use it himself. I helped him out by pressure washing his porch. I was hooked - my ADHD brain loved seeing the immediate reward of what I was doing. Blasting away the dirt became some kind of game. So then I did his steps. And then his pathway. And then I dragged some small carpets out of the house and washed them. I was literally looking for more stuff to wash. I was so absorbed in it that I forgot to eat lunch.

I began thinking to myself - would I enjoy this as a job? Could I do this full time, if I seemed to enjoy it so much? Could this be a good fit?

So my question to you in the business is: is thinking it’s fun to pressure wash things mean that you’ll like doing it as a job? Do you enjoy it, in the kind of way I described above? Or does the “game of blasting dirt away” loose its appeal quickly? Are there headaches as a business owner that make doing it way less fun, and in some cases not worth it?

Equipment What’s your go to soft wash setup that isn't a full truck/skid system?

As the title says outside of a fancy/expensive truck mounted system what do you use ? X-jet, battery sprayer, pump up sprayer etc. I use a pump up sprayer and find it’s great for control but it’s very slow and doesn’t put out a lot of product which results in it drying up fast.

I sprayed this exterior porch ceiling down with low pressure water. It looks like it activated (idk man) the varnish maybe? Wiping it with a rag did nothing and higher pressure just took off the stain. And by low pressure I mean like hose

Technical Questions J rod gpm question

Thumbnail

I just got 2 kits from the surface maxx website for $18 each (it was $80 at lowes). I realized I bought the 3.5-4gpm kit and the 2-3gpm kit wasn't even available. I found some other 2-3gpm kits elsewhere and they all have the same numbers on the tips. Will this work for my 2.3gpm machine?

I restore pavers and occasionally people ask me to do their siding. I've been doing research on it for a while so I could one day add soft wash to my services and finally bought the j rod kit to mess around with. I used a pump sprayer with 2.5% sh on my siding...hosed it off and it's never been cleaner lol.

I'm not against getting a bigger machine, I bet I could clean pavers faster too. 4000 psi won't damage pavers with a turbo nozzle, would it?

Added a photo of my last job and my house

Technical Questions Rust Stain Question

Heys guys first time poster. I would really appreciate if someone could help me. I ran into this problem with these rust stains on both Italian ceramic tiles and also on stucco. I used F9 barc on both already but it didn’t do anything. The owner said that the house was very recently built so it’s been around 4 months since it could have happened. I was about to buy Mar Gel Oxi Kit because I heard it works but I thought I would ask first. Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey All, I was given this pressure washer as the previous owner couldn’t get it to work. I’ve diagnosed it and have determined this plastic piece of the cause of the issue. I cannot find a replacement part that looks the same. The part with the spring on it looks fine. Are there universal parts that can replace this? What can I do to get this running again? TIA
