Rodriguez has led the Venezuelan legislature since 2021 and is a longtime political heavyweight, having served as vice president under late President Hugo Chavez and as communications minister, among other posts

This doesn't make any sense. So you lifted sanctions on someone who historically is a one of the most prominent ally and a loyalist of Maduro. But you guys yet sanction the hell out of Iran, and tariff the crap out of our allies like Canada. The logic isn't adding up here.

Venezuela's government is literally just going to be if not already another carbon copy of the Trump administration, but worse

It makes perfect sense. The US government is entirely immoral and transactional. They did a deal with the current regime in Venezuela. They remove an unpopular ruler, provide material support and protection for the murderous regime that he leaves in place, and then get a cut of the loot said regime wrings out of the country.

If the point was to loot Venezuela, they would require a puppet dictatorship anyway, so why bother going through all the trouble of setting one up if you can just buy the one that's already present?
