Don't even get me started on Pete Hegzeth and FBI Director dude.

Everything about them is a lie.
Fake credentials. Fake intelligence. Fake patriotism. Fake bravery. Fake degrees. Fake morals. Fake tits, tans and foreheads. Fake height and weight. Fake education. Fake rags to riches stories. Fake morals. Fake display of Christianity. Fake prayer. Fake love of country and troops. Fake display of respect for the flag only when it is convenient.
These are the people in high school that were so stupid that they only qualified for low level classes yet bragged and celebrated about getting Honor Roll and Honor Society.
Pathetic.

Fake display of Christianity.
"Are you an Old Testament guy or a New Testament guy?"
"Probably... equal. I think it's just an incredible, the whole Bible is an incredible. I joke, very much so. They always hold up 'The Art of the Deal', I say, 'My second favorite book of all time.' But I just think the Bible is just something very special."

How anyone in the church can watch this clip and actually think this guy has ever cared about their religion is beyond comprehension.
Gullible fools.

Bc most people in church don’t read the bible either. They just read the powerpoint presentations and call it a day.
It’s the most important thing to them, being a Christian, so they say, but even to that they bring a half-assed effort. MAGA christians are an embarrassing lot.

That man is and was an idiot. But it is crazy to watch that clip and take in the difference 11 years makes. Also the guys who say that they would totally join the military but don't because they don't want the Drill Instructors to be intimidated by them.
•
u/Dependent_One6034 4h ago
This one made me chuckle. I went to ADSC to join the Army here in England at 16. Unfortunately the first time around, I failed because of a heart murmur. They sent me off to get it checked out, paid for everything and it was quite cool seeing my heart on the screen.
I passed, No worries. Minor murmur. So I went back again. Passed the 1.5 run, Passed all the physicals and everything else. The PT session was brutal, 3 people got kicked out during that. Still. I did it.
Final interview. We went through everything, The NCO then Shook my hand, said well done. And then I said.... I don't think this is for me. He thanked me for speaking up about it.
I always wanted to join the REME. My old man was in it, I wanted to be too. I really did. It was basically my lifes dream as a kid. And then all of a sudden... Yea, Nah.
I often wonder where I would be today If I did go in. I know people who have travelled the world in the military. I know people who are no longer here because of being in it. Whether they did it themselves or it happened in action.
I do wonder. And sometimes I wish I pushed and did it. But I think I made the correct decision.
I can imagine why people lie though. The shame? You said all your life you were going to do this then bottled it? Parents? That doesn't help - You say you're gonna do the thing then you don't and mums disapointed? Or even the talking.
I told mum I wanted to join and i was going for selection. Every single person I know then asked what happened and why I never joined. This pressure is sometimes enough to make people who don't want to join, join. Then they do a silly thing they can't undo...
Not really sure why I decided to type this out. It has some sort of reply to your comment, But also I wanted to get this off my chest?
Please don't pressure your kids into joining the military, and if they do decide to try to join, don't tell anyone. You can tell them after you see them in parade.

One of the top "accolades" was "trained in Pilates at a collegiate level." Not "competed". "Trained". Which could mean literally anything. Do 5 mins of Pilates at a college rec room? BOOM! Trained at a collegiate level. 😎

It would actually make you a very interesting person if you managed to take and pass the bar exam for multiple countries. That’s not an easy task, even if you picked two countries with very similar legal systems like the US and Canada.
But the US and China? And being able to practice in both? It probably could be done, but it’s so difficult that it’s also probably not worth it at all.
•
u/Daabevuggler 5h ago
It‘s not really that uncommon to be barred in two countries, atleast in Big Law and former Big Law Lawyers. I personally know multiple Lawyers barred in Germany and the US (mostly NY), Germany & the UK and Germany and France.

When I sat for the NY bar, there were quite a few Chinese nationals in the room with me. I was a little surprised. At least one who I made small talk with said that she was licensed in China. When I was licensed in my second state years later, there was a Chinese woman among our swearing in group and she told me that she had been licensed in China before emigrating to the US. I don't recall whether she said anything about keeping her credentials in the other country, but the people sitting with me in NY all made it clear they were not here to stay and practice in NY. I did a little more research on the topic more broadly and found that NY is somewhat of a peculiar jurisdiction like that, being somewhat popular for business attorneys in other countries. It may be that NY's ongoing license requirements, annual reporting and the like, are among the less burdensome. Just being licensed in two states, the costs and administrative work of just staying licensed gets very frustrating sometimes.

There is a simple explanation for all this. You see, 20 years ago she became a actress, and there was this really prominent stage actress in New York named Katie Zacharia, ever heard of her? Comparing this to the accusation that Abdul El-Sayed isn't a doctor seems disengenuous. It's not the same.
He has a medical degree, an actual academic doctorate, and has worked in public health his entire career. Just because he hasn't spent time giving advil for headaches doesn't make him unqualified to talk about healthcare or call himself a doctor. Saying he isn't a doctor is at most petty semantics.
Zacharia has literally never passed a bar exam, a bare minimum for practicing law in any state in the country. Her only claim to being a lawyer is something she did in China, but you have to be a Chinese citizen to be a lawyer in China so whatever she did wasn't law and doesn't qualify her as a lawyer in America. She has no legal experience, no cases, no trials, no positions as a lawyer and yet regularly calls herself one.
•
u/pizza_the_mutt 6h ago
Yes, they are different.
Having an MD or PhD (or various other degrees) makes a you a doctor. An MD makes you specifically a medical doctor. Having a medical license allows you to practice as a medical doctor. So, El-Sayed is a doctor twice over. He does not, however, practice medicine.
Lawyers are different. I am not a lawyer so can't speak with as much authority, but my understanding is that graduating from law school doesn't really mean a lot by itself, beyond having graduated with a law degree. It prepares you for taking the bar exam, which is what makes a you a lawyer.
→ More replies (5)•
u/ohlookahipster 6h ago
Correct, you can have a JD without ever sitting for the bar. Some people do it because they don’t want to practice.
For the inverse, you can actually sit for the bar without a JD in four states. But it’s a special pipeline. No layperson can do it. So in 98% of cases, you need a JD to sit for the bar.

I mean, it kind of is.
The press secretary's job is to frame issues and control a narrative along with stating official policy. They aren't an independent public information officer, they're the spokesperson for the president.
Every press secretary has spun the news.
Now lying or fabricating things, that's a different story. I wouldn't call that spin. And when you've made yourself the focal point, kind of like Sean Spicer did off the rip in his tenure, that's not good either. Like.... ending up parodied on SNL is not the goal here.

You are absolutely correct. You have to have Chinese citizenship to take their law exam. Foreign nationals who work with law firms in China are strictly required to only consult on how laws differ in their own countries, they can’t give legal opinions on Chinese law.

FYI re Abdul, he is entitled to use the title “doctor” in front of his name. The use of the title depends on earning an academic doctoral degree, whereas a medical license gives someone the legal right to diagnose, treat patients, and practice clinical medicine.
Because he successfully graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Columbia University, he holds the legal and academic right to use the honorific "Doctor" (Dr.). Many individuals with academic or professional doctorates (such as M.D.s who go into research, public health, or policy, as well as Ph.D. holders) use the title even if they are not clinically licensed practitioners.

Eh weird niche point, depending on her exact quotes she may just be deceptive. Technically speaking, a lawyer is someone with legal training and who has graduated law school. An attorney is someone who passed the bar and is admitted to practice law.
When you graduate law school and you’re dancing around the ethical implications, my school taught us we can say we’re lawyers but not attorneys. Colloquially the words are interchangeable but in this context there is a distinction.

Did she even go to law school?

She apparently completed law school, just never took the bar, which is a huge waste in my opinion, but not super uncommon

There is also a spectrum of “law schools”, many of which don’t have ABA accreditation. I’m curious to know where she got her JD.
Edit: Pepperdine.
