Planning a new Platinum run. I'm trying to decid between Chimchar or Turtwig (dont care for Piplup.)

I know Sinnoh is infamous for its sparse selection of Fire types, hence why Chimchar may be a good optio. This is but less of an issue in Platinum though.

I personally like Turtwig more. Only problem is that I eventually want a Gliscor on my team (it's one of my favorite. If I pick Turtwig, it would mean I have two Ground types on the team.

What s you suggest?

I can offer any event Pokémon from HGSS. Also have some (mostly gen 4) shinies I’d be willing to trade. I’d also be willing to trade for it temporarily, breed with ditto, and then trade it back.

I recently caught a shiny Giratina in Pokémon Platinum, and now I really want to EV train it. The only problem is that I’m not sure what kind of build to go for. It has a neutral nature, and I’m planning to give it a Griseous Orb to hold. What would you all recommend?

Well it finally happened. I lost due to a combination of bad RNG and human error, which is usually how battle tower losses go.

I lost my sweeper to Lapras Set 4, Brightpowder double activation, and I lost the PP-stall backup because I miscounted the number of Thunderbolt PP, resulting in Latias’s premature death. The third enemy pokemon was Slowking Set 4.

If I could have played this battle differently, I would have ABANDONED the sweep after the very first Brightpowder and rebuilt my Lapras for another sweep once all the Thunderbolt PP had been depleted. This battle happened 3.5 hours into my run today, and frankly I was lazy and got justifiably punished by the Battle Tower RNG gods.

I’m contemplating if I should do another run, or just submit this one to Smogon and call it quits. This streak took about 40 hours of gameplay (and that’s with a 2x speed mod and instant HP bars). I’ll probably take a break for a couple weeks and then try again. GG

I just beat platinum again and i love the frontier. The tower was really fun to play and i want to replay it, but i want suggestions for pokemon to use.

Now keep in mind, i dont want the obvious Garchomp, Starmie and Scizor or choicelock core since i hit 100 wins in the past, so this is more to challenge myself and also to do some breeding. Unironically breeding is a pretty fun part. You can suggest pokemon, moves, iv spreads, items, whatever. I just have this rule: Please dont give me pre-evos. I will NOT be using a team with baby pokemon. That would be borderline impossible.

Appart from that, you can suggest to me how far you want me to go with this team. If my goal should be Palmer 1/2 or the 100. I will NOT torture myself by aiming for 100 with pokemon like Carnivine, Shedinja and Azumaril.

After i reach that goal, i will upload it here and will ask for suggestions again. I do not care about karma, so you can dislike my posts and comments if you want. These posts are just for me to challenge myself and nothing else.

So I plan to start a new play through and I want team suggestions for pokemon I didn’t use in previous play through and want to try something different.

My last play through was the basic - Infernape, Staraptor, Luxray, Gyarados, Garchomp and Giratina.

I want to use Torterra or Empoleon (leaning towards Torterra but I’m open to trying either one) so good/fun teams to use for either!

I will say I’m going to use Garchomp again as he’s my favorite and I just like him too much.

Some pokemon I’m considering are like Girafarig, Houndoom but I’m open to ideas.
Also: I’m playing on a DS, so trade ones are kind of hard to do.

Will note: I don’t want to use Crobat as i been using him in my pokemon white 2 play through I been doing.

Also, good Natures for whatever pokemon too. Not going for competitive crazy but I still like to have fun with natures. (I know Garchomp is Adamant goal)
