help regarding ps5

I’m planning to get a ps5, this is going to be my first console ever, i know it’s not a good idea because of what sony has been doing lately, but I couldn’t go for an xbox as it’s service is not available in my country.

Just needed some do’s and don’ts for ps5
- how to prevent dust
- vertical or horizontal which placement is better
- best time to buy games for cheap

You can’t really “prevent dust”… unless you decide to live in a “clean room” and wear a protective suit. Assuming you’re a PC owner(?), just do what you do already.

The orientation of your console makes no difference to performance. However, if you wish to position your console vertically, you may need to purchase a vertical stand.

Wait for the game you want to buy to get added to a PS Store sale.

This guy is right for the most part. There are dust catchers under the PlayStations cover, so you remove it, and then from there you can vacuum the dust out with any typical home vacuum.

As for it being a bad time, stuff on reddit about PlayStations massively overblown. Outside of costs going up rn, they’ll be fine PR wise by the time GTA comes out. Reddit can be an echo chamber.

Plus Xbox just started an Ai games division, and is surveying people on retroactively taking games and killing them on systems that aren’t Xbox, the biggest being Minecraft.

The bad PR goes in circles. Last year everyone was talking about how the Switch 2 had terrible launch exclusives, and now people act like Nintendo are saints. Don’t get caught up in the reddit echo chamber, and have fun!

PS5 Slim models and PS5 Pro models don’t include a vertical stand like the original PS5 does. I hope this explains my answer.

You literally cannot prevent dust.

Either placement is fine.

PSN has regular sales.

Sony hasn’t done anything lately that impacts you in any way. It’s 2026. Disc production stops in 2028. And it’s not like they’re gonna come to your house and smash your physical game collection.

Dont have a big tip to keep out dust other than keep room clean and avoid using fans if possible

I usually always go horizontal cuz i fear it falling

I highly reccomend the Playstation Plus Extra plan if you can afford it and dont really care about playing brand new games as soon as they release. It has saved me a ton of money with their library selection which has hundreds of games to choose from

If you're buying digital they do sales one after another nowadays rotate what's on sale pretty frequently or if you get plus extra or premium you get a decent game catalog to choose from as long as you subscribe.

After coming from PC I really find Playstation's sales pretty lack luster. I got my ps5 for cheap and really only for playing multi-player games since there's alot of cheaters on pc. Like ARC Raiders for example. I don't notice it on console like I do on PC.

I got a PC too and most third party games I seen bout the same price on both steam and ps store sales that have a console and PC version that is.

Sometimes you can get some good deals. Now you have metro, mafia, batman and bioshock collections on sale for a good price

You've already been given great advice, now get your console and enjoy whatever games you like, ignore the online noise, it's just noise. You have a library of PS4 and ps5 games to choose from so you'll be busy!

Sony has just nuked their systems and right now I would hold off on buying a ps5 for right now

To prevent dust you can input the recommended five SD cards a month. It's important that you do this regularly, or you might experience lower frame rates.

The diagonal version is actually ideal because the extra ventilation lets the console run at a higher power.

The best time to buy games is when a major celebrity has just died, as there are often "grievance sales", which offer the biggest discounts on the PlayStation store.

maybe get a PS4. console and games are super cheap by comparison.
