Pictured: Saudi Arabia after the government decided that pandemic control measures are for pussies and every continent just NEEDS the parasite that kills you from diarrhoea. these planes all flew within like a week
i just can't figure out how to effectively play this mode. sometimes i'll start a run and a million people in china and india are already infected, with every person dying of dysentery deciding "yes, now is the perfect time for me to go visit the UK" as soon as i arrive
on runs that don't have DOA starts i'll try to implement lockdowns and politicians will simply respond 'fuck you' within weeks, which of course gives permanent authority reduction too. i'm struggling to figure out how to actually contain the disease when continent-wide measures always piss off the countries that are (for now) uninfected, and a ton of targeted lockdowns would cost more than i can afford. either way the lockdown gets ignored and the shit in figure 1 happens. also yep, i'm investing in the non compliance reducers too. i don't think they care
on top of that i've got infection/fatality reduction and vaccine production to think about too. that's three spinning plates to balance and i can't even afford the containment / noncompliance management one. epidemiologists in real life have my deep sympathy if their job is like this but worse
am i just not cut out for this mode? i got through bacteria fine, and scraped by virus despite it obliterating the entire population of the middle east. i'm just stuck on parasite (AND only on normal difficulty.. oh my god). anyone got any tips for the mode overall? please??
UPDATE: locked in and beat parasite, thought i was doing great and then got my ass handed to me by fungus three times in a row. legitimate nightmare
UPDATE 2: fungus trembles before me. also managed to power through the rest of the disease types up to bioweapon, which i eventually managed to defeat with the minor sacrifice of 3/4 of south america's population. the later disease types were pretty cool but i was definitely having more fun with the earlier ones that had less preposterous transmission patterns, so i'm looking forward to going back to those on harder difficulties. not looking forward to harder bioweapon though </3
