Is it just me or do the scratches and wear look to be in the same places, too?

u/kbachert 12h ago
I'd bet the wear is all fake.

The dents in OP seem to be real, scratches and “rust” look to be part of the design.

I used to work as a "maintenance" guy at a Casino. Don't let the name fool you, I was really just a glorified janitor that picked up beer bottles, emptied ashtrays and took out the garbage. One busy night, I'm doing my rounds around the Casino floor as people wasted their money. I walk into the men's main washroom which was longer than it was wide with an entrance on each end. The washroom was at least 10 meters or 30 feet long. As you look down the length of the washroom the urinals and stalls are on the left, and the counter and sinks are on the right. There were about six stalls and four or five urinals. Just after walking in, I could immediately smell some ungodliness in the air. There was no denying what it was. All of the stall doors were closed and the washroom was empty except for what appeared to be a south east asian man standing in front of a sink at the opposite end of the washroom shoving paper towel into his pockets. The source of the smell was in one of these stalls, and I'm pretty sure this man has something to do with it.
I'm already noping out of this situation. Yes, it's my responsibility but I don't get paid enough for this. So I keep walking to the other side to get to the other entrance. I look over at the man at the sink. He pays no attention to me. He's still shoving paper towel into his pockets which I can now see is stained with liquid shit. I reach the entrance doors and get out of there. I don't want to know what happened in there. Someone else can find what I just smelled. So I continue cleaning up beer bottles, emptying ashtrays. Then I hear security over the intercom requesting me to call them. "six-eight call two-two-two" which means "male maintenance call security desk". I ignored them for a bit, hoping someone else would take it, but they kept calling "six-eight call two-two-two". I get to a phone and call them and they tell me to go to the men's main washroom for a cleanup in one of the stalls.
Fuck... Fine.. I go back to see what I'm dealing with. The perpetrator had already left by this point, and it was just me in that shit smelling bathroom, no wonder why. So I start opening the stall doors, slowly, cautiously, one by one. After going through the first four with no issues I get to the fifth stall out of the total six and I open the door. It was like a Mr Hanky the Christmas poo special in that stall. Shit was sprayed all over the seat, all over the floor, on sides of the stall, on the white glossy tile of the back wall. It was as if someone set of a shit bomb. $8.27 an hour. That's what I was getting paid. At that time, I could buy a big mac meal at McDonald's for that. Rent was $850 for a 500 sq ft bachelor apartment. I'm not cleaning this shit. So I go back to security and tell them what I saw and to call an actual janitor to come clean it. Security tells me that if I don't do it, I can go home and they'll call me when they need me. Yea, I can read between the lines there. One of the waitresses overhears and takes my side. I was so close to just going home, but then I noticed who else was on duty with me that night. He was an elderly Filipino man that had a hunch as he walked. I wasn't going to make him do it. So I grabbed a mop and disinfectant and cleaned every inch of that stall to its former shine.

Another time we didn't have any female crew for the night, so it was up to me to clean the women's washroom. Aside from the flowers, potpourri, and paintings on the walls (which the men's washrooms didnt have), the washroom was absolutely disgusting. There was toilet paper all over the floor, water all over the counter and piss all over the toilet seats and floor. I was not expecting that at all.

It’s a cultural thing bc lots of places they stand / squat to poo
23
u/251Cane 13h ago
Name one culture where it’s appropriate to shit on the outside of the toilet
24
u/ZonaWildcats23 13h ago
Say someone from India who normally squats is traveling and they aren’t used to western toilets. This is to tell them to go ahead and sit down and poo instead of trying to squat above the bowl where poor aim could lead to shit on the seat.
I agree the image is funny / over-exaggerated but this is just my take on it

I think you're exactly right. My North American city has a very high SE Asian population, and I have yet to figure out if some people are used to hole-in-the-floor toilets or if mama told their daughters never to sit on a public toilet. But the number of pee-sprayed toilets in public-space restrooms suggests it's one or the other.

I have IBS and I have been the NO due to an inopportune sneeze. I also cleaned my mess up after acquiring their cleaning supplies and letting them know that I did my best to clean it all up. Made them very aware of what happened and what caused it and apologized profusely. They were really cool about it and gave me a helluva discount.

Me, the same, but I was teaching then and when I ran into the bldg, the Kinder class was in front of me. I ran in the rest room in there, didn't anticipate the toilet being so damn low to the ground. I bent over to sit and the rest was 50/50 on/off. I was so anxious because the principal was (probably still is) such an unbelievable piece of excrement. I got it all cleaned up before class started. My stress related IBS stopped when I retired.

Went to concert. Had to poop. Each stall had 2-3 people waiting except one with the door half open. I walked in, saw the lines, noticed the empty, knew it'd be terrible, but had to check. Everyone cracked up. Poop explosion a foot up the wall behind the toilet. I laughed and found a line. Next person came in to poop, decided to check and we all laughed when they saw the poop. Rinse and repeat. It was a very bad time but I laughed a lot because I had taken a 10 strip of acid earlier.
I am now done with my post lunch poop. Have a nice day.

I believe that in some regions/cultures (that we think that their hygiene practices are odd) their restroom habits are what they consider normal which makes this sign helpful. At least that’s what I was told by someone once.
•
u/BobbyDig8L 3h ago
Specifically it’s because some countries “toilets” are holes in the ground (sometimes even fancy porcelain holes) that you squat over. So then you try to stand on the toilet and squat over the bowl to do what you’re used to but it doesn’t work out as well.

All the toilet brushes in the bathroom i use at work were broken. So i snuck in to the bathroom used by the building managers and swapped a broken one for the nice ones they have in there.
The next day I go into the stall and the toilet brush is broken and the bowl is feckin destroyed. What the hell is wrong with these animals. It didnt even last 24 hours! Who breaks a toilet brush. Why or how would you do it? 3 stalls, 4 broken brushes. Thats not normal.

If you'd ever had a job that involved cleaning a public bathroom, you wouldn't have to ask that question. The two grossest things I ever encountered were both in the women's room (this isn't an anti- woman statement BTW, it's just what happened).
The first was when I worked at Food Lion, a grocery store and I was told to "deal with" an "issue" in one of the women's room stalls. Long story short, someone had obviously pressed their ass against one of the stall walls while their ass was spouting wet feces, as well as hand-smeared a bunch more shit all over the rest of the walls and (obviously) the door handle from when they were fleeing the scene.
The other was when I was a busboy at a Japanese Steak and Sushi restaurant when I was doing the trash at the end of the night. The standard procedure was to push down the contents of the larger, main trash to compress the fluffy paper towels and make room (in the women's room) for the smaller, in-stall cans that were filled with pads and tampons so they could be added to the larger trash bag and then all tied up together. T
That night I was already shoving the trash down at the exact moment I felt something wet but with substance to it and I pulled my hand out of the trash to reveal that it was smeared with diarrhea, at which point I went and spent a good 4 minutes sobbing and scrubbing my hands until finally I had to go back to the trash.
What it was was A, a pair of lacy blue panties covered from head to toe in liquid feces and B, around 8 feet total of shit- smeared paper towels and a couple wet, crumpled, also shitty paper towels, all in a strata and having been hidden beneath a shroud that consisted of a single sheet of unused paper towel draped over the evidence the way you'd cover a corpses face with a sheet.

It's important for future generations that we properly teach robots how to use the toilet.

The second photo are the people who never have guests at their home and the poop is smeared everywhere…
And the cats, oh so many cats

Why would you think that robots would automatically know the proper way to take a shit?

At one time, in a fucking hospital, I saw a sign written "please, do not use the sink as urinal". Not joking.
What the hell people? 🤯
1
u/chili81 12h ago
Years ago we had to make a similar sign to teach people it's inappropriate to pick you nose and wipe it on the wall. In a big company, office environment. I imagine it wasn't necessary in the women's room though.
•
u/CafeAmerican 2h ago
Yeah that one would instead need a sign to not put used pads and tampons all over the doors and floor plus 100 other nasty shit lol.
1
u/PhamilyTrickster 12h ago
As someone who owns a store with restrooms, I need this sign. Also one to instruct them to piss in the urinals, not just in the general area.
•
u/doorsofperception87 10h ago
Ew. Is this what happens in Murica?
•
u/WittyAndOriginal 4h ago
This is what happens in places with many poorly educated or mentally unwell people. So yes America, the rest of the western world, and likely the rest of the world as well. It only takes a small percentage of the population for this to be a problem for the entire population.

When I worked at Michael's arts and crafts on my very early twenties, the men's bathroom was always wrecked. A few times people would just squat on the floor. I never understood it and still to this day, I live with disgust.
•
u/CafeAmerican 2h ago
The women's restrooms I've noticed are always the worst though, the urinals can get a bit gross but women's restrooms are on a whole other level. Do better ladies!
