Working in a financial institution you see wild shit like this all the time. I have seen cards with the Riley Reid meme that say "oh fuck you're going to make me pay" people are absolutely unhinged.

Worried about bills? Control your spending by getting a bank card you're ashamed to take out of your wallet

u/communistjack 23h ago

Yep, I slap one of these bad boys on every time I buy a thousand bottles of baby oil from Costco.

Imagine loving rape and pedophile “humor” so much you get a debit card themed after it

I don't think either of those things are funny and I think this is hilarious. Having to hand this to a waiter or cashier is a funny joke at your own expense.

u/Jacktheforkie 18h ago
You don’t hand it to them, just tap it on the reader or stick it in the slot and put your pin in

u/Ivelostmydrum 15h ago
Not in america

u/ProfaneWords 12h ago
In America servers have to take your card to the back and gently bite down on it like it's a gold coin to verify it's authenticity
•
u/MrZephy 10h ago
I don’t believe you
•
u/MechanicalCheese 5h ago
Of all things to be unbelievable.... Genuinely why this?
Some places have mobile card readers, but most traditional full service restaurants take your card to their computer in the back - this continues to be by far the most common practice across the country.
•
u/FauxReal 8h ago
Out here on the west coast they bring the reader to you and you just tap.
Except for most bars, where they turn around and swipe it on a machine.

If I wad your server and you handed me this card I would feel the strong urge to tell you to never come again
•
u/BlakkandMild 11h ago
You aren’t built for the job. If I pull that, I might do a lap around the restaurant if I can’t find enough coworkers to show it to in my immediate vicinity.
•
u/MrZephy 10h ago
This is why you don’t have a job

u/ceruleania 10h ago
Thinking a card with a rapist on it is funny isn’t a requirement for being a server. They just said they would “feel the strong urge to tell [them] to never come again” not that they couldn’t handle serving them.

I actually like that misspelling. As if one's own stupidity must be as vacuous as a hall to find this funny.

u/Great-External-2439 16h ago
I think acknowledging the sheer absurdity of the situation through humor is not "loving rape and pedo humor". I feel like you're stretching that a bit
-3
u/ceruleania 14h ago
I get that, but having a debit card printed in honor of that humor is just weird. It’s not joking with your friends to deal with the absurdity of the situation.
•
u/chunkeymonke 11h ago
There is nothing absurd about rich and powerful men being predatory rapists. Thats literally just the reality of our world. Joking about it / treating it like its absurd instead of the norm just serves to perpetuate the culture.
•
u/Great-External-2439 10h ago edited 10h ago
Moral grandstanding over a debit card sticker is crazy. And yes, it is absurd. you should look up the definition.
•
u/chunkeymonke 9h ago
I'm not moral grandstanding, I assume its a pretty safe assumption you do not approve of what Diddy did.
Absurdity is defined as something "unreasonable, meaningless, or so unsound as to be irrational." My point is that you describing it like that communicates a degree of either willful ignorance or naivety as to the fact that 95% of the powerful people in the world are either Diddys or Diddy enablers. Its not an absurdity its tragically depressing norm.

u/GergDanger 17h ago
I’m hoping you don’t make jokes about Trump by that logic then?
-1
u/ceruleania 16h ago
It depends on the context. You can make jokes about Diddy too, but this is fucking weird and I would side-eye anyone who thought this was funny.

He was a pedophile, too? I thought that was R Kelly.
•
u/ceruleania 10h ago
Totally different weirdos, but I thought there allegations against diddy about minors too

This kind of stuff is just horrifying. People make such a mockery of real people being raped and abused, it’s sick.

A lot of cards are now putting the numbers on the back because people like posting the cards they have online
3
u/Byaaah1 1d ago
You can buy stickers with various things like this (usually less wtf) to cover your card face, I'm a teller and see them all the time

u/sugar_infused 1d ago
I have one with a green Uno reverse and an old expired one with Grumpy Cat (RIP) to try and cull unnecessary purchases. There was a store near me that sold a shitton of stickers they custom printed and actually had a binder set aside just for the card ones.
