General experience "IS IT WORTH IT?!"

Here's most of the posts discussing whether a move is worth it.

  1. Please consult these before posting to ask again if a move is worth it - it is always subjective.
  2. If you really have to, provide as much specifics as you can.
  3. Take note of how old the posts are - they could be dated advice, especially if they are country specific, but generally what's worth for someone may not be worth for another.

General experience Only been back 3 days and I already want to leave

We left the Philippines 5 years ago. My family is visiting for 3 weeks para nrin ayusin yung property documents at mabenta na.

Tindi ng Pilipinas, hirap talaga mahalin. 1.5 hours akong nasa phone kausap Security Bank, walang mabigay na sagot sakin bakit hindi pa narerelease yung collateral documents ko na fully paid na a month ago pa. Lampas narin sa processing time. Naka ilang email at tawag na ako bago pa man dumating dito.

Sa totoo lang, ang masakit dun, kapwa pinoy din nagpapahirap sayo.

Sobrang traffic.

Sobrang mahal ng bilihin.

Sobrang gulo.

Now more than ever I am so grateful we were given the opportunity to migrate. If you can leave the Philippines, do. I was really looking forward to vacationing, but I think this will be the last time na magbakasyon din kami dito. So excited to cut all ties here (except for family, of course).

Nakakasad lang. i feel so sad for everyone stuck in here, including my family. My heart mourns for what the Philippines could have been, had we chosen better leaders. Had we taken care of each other instead of making lives harder. I will always love the Philippines, but I dont think I can ever call this home anymore.

🇦🇺 AU 🇳🇿 NZ 189 Visa Question - De Facto with Australian Citizen

Hi everyone!

I’ve been with my partner, an Australian citizen, for around 3 years now. We were long distance for 2 years (with plane rides almost every month) and we’ve only started living together on March this year so we haven’t registered our relationship yet.

On my EOI, I’ve put in “De Facto relationship with an Australian citizen,” especially since it’s the more accurate option to my situation and the same points as being singe anyways.

I’ve just gotten an invitation and was wondering if this is the right option to tick despite not being in a registered De Facto relationship.

General experience Do you feel included or distant from the natives in your new home?

• Upvotes

Something I noticed lang is the apparent segregation of natives and migrants sa ibang bansa.

Feels like most migrants hang out with their own or other fellow migrants.

In your experience (especially those na nasa lugar na kaunti Pilipino), do you feel included sa mga circles ng mga natives o they just keep you at a distance and only interact with you if they need to?

Pansin ko lang sa Europa is the sentiment “I don’t feel fully integrated despite having the citizenship and speaking the language” is very common.

It’s definitely made clear here in the Gulf that locals will never see us as one of them. Doesn’t matter if you speak Arabic or have the same religion.

🇦🇺 AU 🇳🇿 NZ Filipino SHS graduates who migrated to Australia, which universities can I apply to?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m 20 years old and currently living in Melbourne. I graduated from Senior High School in the Philippines under the ABM strand.

Since migrating to Australia, I’ve been unemployed and mostly staying at home while waiting for my visa. I haven’t been studying for around six months now, and I really want to get back on track with my education. I’m starting to look into universities, but honestly, I’m not sure where to begin or what my options are.

For those who graduated from SHS in the Philippines and continued their studies in Australia:

Which universities were you able to apply to using your Philippine SHS diploma?

Did you qualify for direct entry, or did you need to take a foundation or pathway program?

Which universities around Melbourne would you recommend looking into?

What should I prepare or do before applying?

Since I’m currently on a bridging visa while waiting for PR, how does that affect my eligibility and tuition fees?

I feel a little behind after not studying for half a year, so I’d really appreciate any advice on what I should do first and how I can prepare myself to start studying again.

Thank you! Any personal experiences or advice would mean a lot. 🥹

🇺🇸 USA PH lawyer planning to take NY Bar exam.

Hi! I’m a Filipino lawyer planning to take the New York Bar Exam in July 2027 and eventually move to New York. (Not primarily for my career, but for love. 😅)

I recently submitted my request for a foreign evaluation to the New York State Board of Law Examiners (NY BOLE), and I received an email today stating:
“The Board has made a final determination that you are eligible to sit the New York State bar examination under Section 520.6 of the Rules of the Court of Appeals.”

Over the past couple of months, I’ve done quite a bit of research, and I was almost certain that my evaluation would result in a negative determination. Most of the information I came across suggested that the chances of a Filipino lawyer qualifying to take the New York Bar Exam without first completing an LL.M. program in the US were “very low to zero” or “rare.”

How can I verify that I’ve correctly understood the email I received from NY BOLE? Does this mean I’m eligible to take the New York Bar Exam without having to pursue an LL.M. degree in the US?

I would really appreciate any insights or advice from Filipino lawyers who have gone through the same process. Thank you!

Migration Process What are your experiences with a foreign partner temporarily living and working in the Philippines?

Hi guys. Yung boyfriend ko nasa Australia ngayon at plano niyang mag-stay muna dito sa Philippines with me. Ang goal niya is to gain work experience here before eventually working abroad again kasi di siya makahanap ng work dun na will give him PR din.

Since hindi siya Philippine citizen, curious lang ako sa experiences ng mga may foreign partner na nasa similar situation. Kumusta naging experience nila while living and working here? Ano yung biggest challenges nila? Plan din after gaining experiences here, maybe he'll look for agencies here na tutulong sa kanya mag work abroad

🇪🇸ES Moving to Spain while running a business in the Philippines

Hey everyone! I own a business in the Philippines with 30+ employees, and I'm exploring the possibility of moving to Spain.

I'd like to build a business there too, possibly in outsourcing, staffing, or other opportunities, so I can cover my living expenses in Spain without draining my PH business.

For those who've done something similar:

  • What visa or residency route would make the most sense for my situation?
  • What's the best path to eventually building a business in Spain as a foreigner?
  • How often can I travel back to the Philippines while waiting for residency approval?
  • How long do I actually need to stay in Spain each year, especially if I want to keep managing my PH business?

Would love to hear your experiences, advice, and any lessons learned!

Accounting Career in Abroad

About Me:
I have more than 2 years in Accounting, working with Big 4 and also have experience working with Multinational Company.

Naghahanap ako sa mga sub reddit ng discussions about this pero wala akong makitang updated. Gusto ko lang po malaman if may chance kaya ako to work overseas kahit more than 2 years ang experience? Sobrang hirap na kasi ng job hunting dito sa Pilipinas :(

I am considering sana Dubai pero I am not sure if it’s still good parin ba or safe given the current situation that’s happening in Middle East. Sa tingin niyo po ba sa Singapore, Europe, or elsewhere san maganda? Wala kasi ako mapag tanungan.. Salamat sa makakasagot.

I lodge an EOI 2 years ago for visa 189/190/491. Just today, I received an email that I am being invited to apply for visa 189. Is this a guarantee to get the visa or there is a real possibility that I will be rejected?

Update: Salamat po sa support! Di pa po nagsisink-in sakin ito. Sa tagal siguro ng hintayan. Profile ko po pala, 32 yrs old. Telco engineer. Max points sa PTE and my wife, max sa work experience outside aussie. No work expi on aussie.

Back in PH for emergency

I'm here for an emergency so I made the decision to stay in Manila for 3 weeks. 1 week in and everyday, there isn't a single hour when I didn't wish that I was dead instead of being here. It's horrible. The people are nice, but the quality of life has degraded so badly in just a couple of years. The pollution, the traffic, the extremely poor quality of food, the cost of living etc. Presyong first world, buhay third world.

Background, I migrated to the US nearly 3 years ago. Before that, I was in Portugal for nearly a year. I don't remember it being this bad 3 years ago during the interval between my stay in Portugal and the US. Alam ko kasalanan ng cheeto-flavored turd na pedophile na presidente kaya nagtaasan lahat ng bilihin pero talagang biktimadong biktimado mga Pilipino. Nakakaawa tayong lahat.

In the Philippines, every step there is friction. Buying something. Paying for something. Getting in and out of traffic. Money can't solve your problems here. This is the longest 3 weeks of my life. I feel awful for everyone. I'm so sorry.

If you have the opportunity, just leave. Leave as fast as you can. Don't have kids in the Philippines. Don't have kids until you get out. Dalhin mo sarili mo. Wag ka gagawa ng baggage. Idefer mo lahat ng plans mo until makaalis ka. Do your best because you deserve much better.

Migration Process Lawyers who migrated abroad - can a panyera gain some insight please?

What are the possible pathways for a lawyer to migrate overseas, like the US or Australia?

Pasensya na sa vague reason. I was a nurse who took up law school and became a lawyer mainly due to my previous relationship. As it ended, I find no reason to stay in the PH with its crumbling economy. :( understandably, i can see that a lawyer is one of the hardest careers to shift abroad.

Work and migrate a road

Hi, please give your thoughts. I am a graduate of BA Psychology (2018) with RPM license (2019) and currently working as a Paraplanner VA for an Australian Financial Firm. I have 3 years of experience in HR CompBen and Recruitment, 5 years as VA, and I haven't practiced using my RPM license at all but I really want to work abroad and eventually migrate. I am looking to apply for either US, Australia, Canada and even Spain. But with my work experience and credentials, I researched and couldn't find anything that allows me to work in the countries I mentioned.

I am thinking of applying for Student Visa but I'm not even sure if I'll be accepted given my work experience and I'm more comfortable working than studying.

Do you have any ideas on what other opportunities there might be?

Thank you so much!

Legit check/Review Has Anyone use this DFA (Cebu)Authentication Certificate for MOFA UAE?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I had my document processed through CAV/ECAV and then DFA Cebu. What I received is an Authentication Certificate and not something that says "Apostille" on it.

The certificate has a DFA serial number, QR code, and can be verified online, but I'm confused because I was expecting to see the word "Apostille" somewhere on the document.

Has anyone else received the same type of document from DFA Cebu?

If so:
Were you able to use it in Dubai/UAE?
Did MOFA UAE accept it?
Did you need any additional legalization steps?

I'm a bit worried because I don't want to send it all the way to Dubai only to find out it's the wrong document.

Thanks! Any experiences would be appreciated.
