Been going through my library and replaying a lot of shooters on harder difficulties lately.
Doom 2016, Titanfall 2, BF1, CoD 1 + United Offensive. Also finished replaying Borderlands 3 so keen to try out the expansions I never got to before. Also keen to get into Space Marine 2.

This is probably a dumb question but are you playing Alex in VR or can it be played without VR?
3
u/KurtAngus RTX 5060ti 16 gig / 5800x3d / ASUS Xbox Ally X 10h ago
It's only in VR. I have a meta quest 3.
The game is top notch... I won't spoil anything, and I mean I'm only on chapter 4. But, you can really tell the amount of money and love valve dumped into the game.
You gotta try it bro. It'll blow your mind.
2
u/TheCrowing817 Ryzen 7 7800X3D RTX 4090 64GB RAM Win 11 10h ago
Yea, I know there's other cool VR stuff but Alyx is the main reason I've been pining for a headset. Such a big money sink right now. How is the Quest 3? I've seen a bunch on marketplace for not too much. I wanted the Steam Index but $1000 for one game is just not worth it lol.
2
u/KurtAngus RTX 5060ti 16 gig / 5800x3d / ASUS Xbox Ally X 10h ago
Just go with the meta quest bro. Really simple to set up.
Also, if you get one, buy a 16ft USB c to USB c cable that has the charging port added to it! That way you don't have to take the headset off after a couple hours of playing.
Also, I've noticed, the stock meta quest games you download from the meta store get you motion sick, but if you're running a VR game from your gaming PC, it doesn't get you motion sick what so ever. The high refresh rate helps so much.
Hopefully I shared all the info that's relative to what you need

u/TheCrowing817 Ryzen 7 7800X3D RTX 4090 64GB RAM Win 11 10h ago

A Plague Tale: Requiem, mostly because it is going to be gone from Game Pass soon and if I do not finish it this time, I never will; in my last attempt, it ate my save file at around chapter 7. To be honest, I do not really like it. The protagonists just keep destroying cities in their wake, and that is not endearing them to me in the slightest. At least in the first game, they had the excuse of not knowing.

I've been playing Chained Echoes on my Switch. Don't worry, this is still PCMR: I installed Ubuntu and Steam on my Switch. It runs between 15 and 20 FPS, and loading is abysmal since it's running off an SD card, but being on Steam means I can easily switch to my PC when necessary (usually because the low framerate causes it to softlock when trying to pet a dog; I'm sure the native Switch version would perform better, but then I wouldn't have closed saves and achievements).
I ordered a Retroid Pocket Nova to replace it and I look forward to trying it and other indie Steam titles on the more powerful device that also fits in my pocket and hopefully shouldn't have a drifting joystick.
