Video PS5 Emulation becoming viable on lower end PCs!

Using Jetsku's KytyPS5 Fork as it has some fixes in both Astro games.

Build is an RTX 5060 + Ryzen 5 5600GT (Same performance as a 5500, 6c/12t), 16GB RAM. Game is Astro's Playroom.

It's still getting around 35 fps in the main lobby, but inside the actual levels its hovering around 45-60fps! Not sure I'd call it fully playable yet, but the progress is amazing.

More gameplay and settings used, guide (english subtitled): https://youtu.be/yMw7_cGbicw

Edit: fixed link. Meant lower end when compared to most showcases of these emulators being 5090s, X3D chips and DDR5... Better wording would be "current-generation lower end".

Also, people seem to be wildly overestimating the 5600gt. Genuinely can't run any triple-A RPCS3 game at a locked 30fps.

In what universe is a computer with an RTX 5060 considered "low end"...?

12

u/Traditional-Storm-62 1070 gaming 11h ago

emulators are inherently less efficient than running a program natively

PS5 already has basically rx6700

so you wouldnt expect anything less than rx6700 to run the emulator at all

rtx5060 is only slightly faster so the fact it runs the games well is impressive

In what universe 5060 is considered mid range or highend?

6

u/Steam-Frame-User 10h ago edited 10h ago

And it’s still more powerful than the Steam Machine. It’s midrange.

3

u/poorlycooked 9h ago

It's definitely mid-range? The low-end is iGPU/APU nowadays.

That said the 5600GT is definitely quite low-end when it comes to gaming and emulation in particular

in the one that we live in

u/Grand0rk 3h ago

So what is a 5070 TI? High End?

The universe we currently live in. It's the upper low end.

It's typical PCMR misunderstanding of the world outside this community

Someone getting into gaming on a budget at the low end is more likely to get a used 2070

Someone really on a budget might even get a 1080, which you can get for £100 in the UK and can still handle 1080/60 in a lot of cases. That's low end, budget gaming, not a fucking 5060 lmao

That’s what I don’t get with this sub, a PC with a 5060 is already more powerful than 90% of the computers in the world. Do people in this sub really think anything below a 5070 is “garbage tier”?

25

u/Mixed_Martial_Autism 10h ago

This sub is pretty much a bubbles of suburban Americans who can buy a 5090 with like one months of Working at McDonald's while living with their parents. Pretty much Anywhere Else in the world you Would need to save for MONTHS to even but a 5060.

2

u/leaslethefalcon PC Master Race 6h ago

nobody working at mcdonalds unless they are in management is getting anywhere close to 5090 money unless they are literally saving every dollar from their paycheck for 4 months.

Average wage in the US at McDonalds on the high end is $38,000, or approximately $3166 a month before tax. So closer to $2700 takehome salary. The average price for a 5090 is now pushing $7500 used. So we are talking at least 3 months of being an absolute leach making $16-17 an hour.

Not to say the vibes of your statement are incorrect, but even in America the streets aren't that paved with gold.

To be clear I very much agree. I called the 5060 low end because I was fully expecting to be destroyed in the comments if I called it anything above that. That plus the fact the CPU is absolutely the bottleneck here.

1060 was low end even back then that shit is broke end we are talking about low end

1

u/wowohwowza 9h ago

5090 FE

Your opinion on what is and isn't low-end is irrelevant, lmao.

Low, mid, and high are all going to have tiers within themselves.

I don't see how anyone could call a 8GB card mid tier today.

18

u/resodx 11h ago

It's the second cheapest Nvidia card available rn

5

u/Mixed_Martial_Autism 10h ago

...of the Newest gen of GPUs, which is a Very importante detail. Considering most people outside of the US aren't even rocking anything close to the latest gen of GPUs.

It's like saying "but this Caiman is the cheapest Porsche you can buy! It's a lower end car!".

1

u/DelusionalWoodoo 5h ago

still costs upwords of 400$ and even 600$ in my country :)

-8

u/Heavy_Nature_4896 11h ago

It's the second cheapest new, top of the line card available right now.....

9

u/Tornado_Hunter24 Desktop 11h ago

Top of the line?

Wtf lmfaooo

6

u/Cyberblood PC Master Race 11h ago

I think he means least expensive of the newest generation of GPUs, basically the bottom of the top.

5

u/Tornado_Hunter24 Desktop 11h ago

It’s still pretty low end, <60 low, 70 medium, and 80 mid/high 90 being high

3

u/FloopsFooglies 7800XT / 5800X 11h ago

Yeah. Like it's new, sure, but it's still the "budget" (using that term tentatively) option from the 5000 series

u/According_Big_5638 11h ago

On mine. I have an i7 4700k, 24Gb DDR3 RAM and a 5060. My shits old.

2

u/maevian 5700X3D, 5070ti , 32gb DDR4 10h ago

Man that 5060 is so over spec’d for a 4700k

2

u/According_Big_5638 10h ago

Yeah. It sure is. But it's incredible what it does regardless

1

u/harry_lostone I'm not toxic 9h ago

it is, but intel back then made beast CPUs. there will be an obvious bottleneck, but it will still be playable. An rtx 3060 would make far more sense tho.

2

u/WINNT21 Windows 11 | R3 3200g | Vega 8 | 8 GB RAM | 240 GB SSD 9h ago

You consider that old? I have an Ryzen 3 3200g, 8 GB DDR4 single channel RAM, and a Vega 8 running from the VGA port on my asus prime a320m-k motherboard

3

u/According_Big_5638 9h ago

Mines older than the entire Ryzen line sir.

2

u/WINNT21 Windows 11 | R3 3200g | Vega 8 | 8 GB RAM | 240 GB SSD 9h ago

Also there's no i7 4700k, you probably meant 4770k

3

u/According_Big_5638 8h ago

Sorry 4770k

2

u/WINNT21 Windows 11 | R3 3200g | Vega 8 | 8 GB RAM | 240 GB SSD 8h ago

Damn 2013? That cpu is old as gta 5

2

u/According_Big_5638 8h ago

Yeah! But I still play all the things! It's been an absolute beast of a processor considering. It's been in use the whole time. It's why I haven't upgraded. I've been just fine at 1080p gaming and it's ran everything despite games saying it wouldn't work.

3

u/WINNT21 Windows 11 | R3 3200g | Vega 8 | 8 GB RAM | 240 GB SSD 8h ago

Well the most that matters if it still works for you and has use cases

1

u/Adventurous_Card_738 9h ago

you consider that old? i still have my old pc and use it sometimes that has an i5 3470 and a 2gb gtx 1050

4

u/xFrazle 11h ago

This universe

u/Beznia i5-3570k @ 4.1GHz / GTX 980 / 16GB DDR3 5h ago

5050 is the lowest card you can get in this generation. 5060 is low end, then you have the RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti as a mid level card, 5080 on the higher end, and 5090 as the flagship.

Compared to previous gen models, yeah it's leagues ahead but if you're going out today and getting a pre-built, a 5060 is the bare minimum you'd really want.

-5

u/Bitter_Hospital_8279 11h ago

5060 is low end lmfao in a first world

2

u/Mixed_Martial_Autism 10h ago

When Americans day First world what they actually Mean is the US. Because even in most of Europe people aren't rocking. 5060's casually. Let Aline places like Rússia, china, Japan etc.

1080 here, living in central Euope, no problem with any modern games.
