I feel like he will indeed pee.

that cat has the look of someone who knows the glass is not a toilet but simply does not care

u/PavelPetrPavel 1d ago
yeah he has that exact look of pure defiance going on right now. he knows perfectly well what it is.

Pee, puke and hair. All wonderful for a PC. Boundaries people……

It seems okay for now. I run a robot vacuum every now and then, and I rarely see any dust or cat hair. My kitten hasn't really started shedding heavily yet, though.

u/YourDeathIsOurReward 1d ago
Peeing seems like a lesser concern. Id be more worried about hair and dander. If the cat is allowed to be comfortable up there for long enough there's a decent chance it could cough a hairball on it and cat puke is probably not great for pc components.

Just put something at the top of the case so he/she can't get on

Have you considered just not let your cat do things you dont want it to do? Cat owners are a weird bunch.

u/chiefkogo HTPC 23h ago
You don't "not let a cat" do anything. You reinforce positive behavior and give it places to sit scratch and piss.
Puke on the other hand..

It's her first time jumping to the top of my PC. I put something to cover it and it should be safe now.

That's treating a symptom. Depending on what/how you covered it could be harming your computer. Train the cat not to be there.

Just train the cat

Bro has never owned a cat in his life
I've owned 3. 99% of the time, none of them went places I did not want them once I established and enforced boundaries.
Bro has never disciplined pet in his life.

Well obviously you don’t have a cat. You literally can’t train a cat not to go somewhere. Trust me, me and my family have tried for over eight years and my cat still jumps on the bed of the one person who is allergic. We still shoo her off but it’s a matter of time until she tries again…

Sounds like you put more effort into social media than cat training
Well obviously you don’t have a cat
This is the equivalent of "you don't have kids", except I don't get to congratulate you on figuring out sex. Buying an animal does not make you an intelligent or responsible owner by default.
For record, I've owned 3 cats.

Clearly never owned a cat. I fought for the country tops but the PC was to much of a battle with the warm air.

u/huldress 19h ago
I feel like I'm in the minority of cat owners that doesn't even let my cat in the same room my PC is kept in. Like that little guy chews wires like crazy, I am not letting him anywhere near it lol

She's just hanging out. I've got a couple that like to sleep on the warm box. Only issue I've had to deal with is covering the power button since they landed on it a few too many times.

My case sucks air from the top. I've been thinking of 3D printing a small covering platform with non painful spikes, just for this reason.
Like a park bench the cruel cities do for the homeless.

I heard if you place food in those parts of your house you dont want him to pee or poo he will sort of place a mark that he eats there and toilet is other way

u/ThatsALovelyShirt 1d ago
I just put a cardboard box made into a big rectangular tube on top of mine. Preserves air flow but blocks cats.

They say cats are as smart as toddlers, would you trust a toddler not to fuck your precious shiny PC?

Time to grab the cat protector thing, I imagine it would protect from pee aswell

Such a cute cat, make sure you got your PC covered. Just a risk of owning a cat.

Just another reason to keep your cat out of your computer room and your computer off the floor..

I'm more consered of the tower being directly on the floor.

Thats a perfectly good place for it. Arguably way better than on the desk where it takes up valuable space.

My area has very clean air, so it seems fine. My computer has been there for two years, and there’s very little dust accumulated.
