They also are going to respond to states. Multiple major European countries have already executed or are in the process of switching away from Microsoft products for all public sector usage. That's not minor. Every branch of their install base has some portion of it that is concerned or upset about things MS is doing; they can't just pretend it's not happening and be indifferent to it if they intend to continue having their services be used. You don't stay on top by doing nothing.

It's pretty likely, yes. The average consumer user is just using an OEM install of Windows and a minute fraction of those users are paying an additional fee for OneDrive, or Office, or something along those lines. Meanwhile, corporate customers are paying licensing for entire fleets at once, with a bunch of redundancies and backups, and full product suites to be used by every employee. When I was running a Windows machine, I paid a Windows license once, and declined to use a single other Microsoft service. Meanwhile, I worked for multiple employers during that time that had us using Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher, OneNote, and so on. Losing me as a home consumer to Linux will be a rounding error on their books, but dropping an entire organization of thousands of licenses, that's an annoyance.

The reason why rest of the world’s governments are switching away from Windows has nothing to do with Windows. Trump showed everyone that it is bad idea to be reliant on USA, that’s all. It’s just politics.

It can be not Microsoft's fault and still their problem. Although really, the reality is much more that both the administration and MS are at fault.
