I do think people go very overboard with the AI slop branding. To me its just a tool. A tool is not malicious or benevolent on its own. It can be used maliciously, and it can be used benevolently.
Ive legit seen people boycott an AI generated thing because "I bet the author doesnt even understand how it works". As if that matters at all. Its pretty well known the devs of The Simpsons Hit & Run had no idea how their game worked days before it shipped, this isnt even anything new
With the caveat that using the tool can require a direct connection to a malicious company. Not saying I don't use AI, but I am saying it is not just a tool you can own for yourself and use however you like, like a hammer or something. Using the tool is feeding data and/or money directly into the American imperial war machine, in the case of openai or grok for example.
Locally run models are getting really really close to being able to handle 90% of my modding workflow. Its only a matter of time till I drop my subscriptions I hate them too but I also have a lot of fun making things for my community
