News/Article The PS5 system itself is running on pc

Recently, we have seen massive developments in PS5 emulators (such as shadPS4 and Kyty), and how rapidly they have progressed in a short period.

Now, developers have successfully booted the actual PS5 system software on PC.

If this momentum continues in the future, it will eventually allow players to run PS5 exclusives directly on PC, marking the end of the era of console exclusivity.

Won't work, they can still be reverse engineered. You can't put the cat back into the bag.

I mean, they will try to do something about it because it is the end of consoles (maybe even AAA games in general) as we know it.

I'm trying to tell you there is nothing they could possibly do other than reverse all AI immediately.

They can't lock the binaries or do cloud streaming, all of these option can easily be reverse engineered. The only thing they can do is making games worth buying and put them on as many platforms as possible

How do you reverse engineer a game from a video stream?

There is no such thing as a worth-buying game, because different tastes exist. What I’m trying to say is that it’s all fun and games until it kills the industry eventually. And if there is no money to be made, what’s the point of spending years and millions on it.

No it's not. Emulating is still a very niche practice. Your average gamer is still going to buy consoles because they are convenient, they work straight out of the box and they don't have to put any effort in to be able to play some games. Look at the first Switch. The games on the switch ended up playing even better on PC than on the console, and that didn't stop people from buying it.

Emulation itself is not a problem, but people start to decompile games with AI like it’s nothing, they are meshing two games to work together, they are making native PC ports of everything they want, etc. And yea, most of it is not a new thing. What’s new, is a rate at which it’s accelerating and how easy and accessible it will be in the near future.
