News/Article The PS5 system itself is running on pc

Recently, we have seen massive developments in PS5 emulators (such as shadPS4 and Kyty), and how rapidly they have progressed in a short period.

Now, developers have successfully booted the actual PS5 system software on PC.

If this momentum continues in the future, it will eventually allow players to run PS5 exclusives directly on PC, marking the end of the era of console exclusivity.

Correcting what? I think maybe you misunderstood what I was saying.

Maybe. Here's what I'm saying: in practice, AI is performing the tasks of entire junior developers, and several of the tasks of a senior developer, including the lions share of problem solving. It's getting increasingly better at this with less input from the senior developers

Ok, but this thread started as a discussion about AI as a threat to creative industries rather than software engineering followed by an assertion that software engineering is creative. My initial point was that agents don't really remove us, as engineers, from that role, as they're better at the other stuff and we're left with the juicy creative parts.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, I'm just not sure how it was relevant you weren't disagreeing with me, which it turns out you weren't. Unless you're saying that 'performing the tasks of entire junior developers' means they can replace junior developers, which I would strongly disagree with. Junior developers are needed to learn how to supervise AI agents, which is much more mentally demanding than the monkey work they're traditionally given.

Entire junior developers are being replaced, like I said. Not all, but it's the reality of it. And a lot of the problem solving for all positions is being replaced.

No. You can get more done with fewer people, but it's still people doing the work. The AIs aren't replacing the people. They're just better tools.

You can get more done with fewer people

...that is people being replaced with AI.

I was trying to make a subtle point about AI being unable to replace engineers. It can only enhance them. Can you understand that?

  1. Different statement than before

  2. You know damn well that even if that's true today, it won't be for long. Hell, the new Opus is already better than a number of engineers I've met lol

  1. It wasn't intended to be, and you still don't understand.

  2. No it damn well isn't, and will never be. It's a well trained code monkey, not an engineer. I hope you realize the difference. It's a lot better than a lot of people I've had to work with too, but I wouldn't put them in charge either.

Okay then sure, I agree with your backpedal

I know you're probably just basing this off of experience with Codex or something, but you people have been saying it will never be able to do "x" for the longest time, and then what happens a few months (if that) down the line? And still, no one is talking about what you would do, look at what is actually happening in reality.

Why don't you provide one example of an engineering problem that would be impossible for Opus to solve?
