News/Article The PS5 system itself is running on pc

Recently, we have seen massive developments in PS5 emulators (such as shadPS4 and Kyty), and how rapidly they have progressed in a short period.

Now, developers have successfully booted the actual PS5 system software on PC.

If this momentum continues in the future, it will eventually allow players to run PS5 exclusives directly on PC, marking the end of the era of console exclusivity.

Gen AI can now decompile ANYTHING, which… is... fucking huge.

Honestly this is what I imagined AI would be doing as a kid. We had to crawl through all the hentai to get to this point but we’ve finally arrived.

Don't fool yourself, we have plenty more to crawl through. But you are right.

Where do I apply as hentai crawler?

You know... for the betterment of the tech.

To be fair, humans recently started to decompile N64 games, and the AI probably just took that progress and applied it to other platforms. Still huge progress, but it doesn't happen in a vacuum... yet.

They probably wrote something like a compiler, which most people don't understand well how it works, but a decompiler? Some analysis tools?

So they took it apart into very small bits and compiled something they may not fully understand, but works?

Or not?

I'm conflicted. For game preservation it's huge... but this will quickly turn into stealing the code of brand new games, and it will become nearly impossible to release a game that is not immediately decompiled and released as a slop clone. Its probably gonna put a lot of indies out of business who do not have the money to fight it legally or the time or speed to keep up with the slop that tries to steal everything.

Pirating games has always existed.

Pirating is different than cloning and selling, which is what I was saying. We're gonna see a lot of game clones pop up near immediately after a game is released with slightly altered assets.

Why would someone pay for a clone when they could pirate the original for free

Cause originality isnt always valued. It's kinda like the controversy over the "Tank Slam" game that just came out. You can rush an AI game to market before the "original" even comes out. Or you could wait till the "original" comes out, back-engineer it and add a whole bunch of other slop-stuff on top - more levels, mechanics, etc. and people will buy it over the original because it's 'bigger and better'. It will become an arms race that will be impossible to win without also using AI to make your game, because the people using AI will be way quicker to market

What makes you think the average programmer isn't using AI? Literally everyone uses it

It’s terrifying. No software is safe from being fully decompiled anymore, which was the primary security for code in a lot of ways.

That's good. Software was always decompilable. That's not a layer of security.

Doesn’t make it not scary. If for no other reason than the fact that this further incentivizes companies to host everything on the cloud and prevent you from downloading anything locally

No it's fucking horrifying.
