News/Article The PS5 system itself is running on pc

Recently, we have seen massive developments in PS5 emulators (such as shadPS4 and Kyty), and how rapidly they have progressed in a short period.

Now, developers have successfully booted the actual PS5 system software on PC.

If this momentum continues in the future, it will eventually allow players to run PS5 exclusives directly on PC, marking the end of the era of console exclusivity.

They ain’t sending shit. This will spread like the plague before they contain it. Deservingly so.

Doubt it. You need a pretty strong system which today is pretty expensive and you need people who actually care to even emulate a ps5. I think the market is rather small

The speed at which it's currently improving is unprecedented in the emulation scene though, just a week ago you needed a 5090 to have a chance at getting anything to launch, people are now getting wolverine to run on 40 series cards

Over on the minecraft side, people have been creating renderers + shaders that far outclass the level of optimization we have ever seen from the game, or even from previous optimization mods. As far as I see it, its only a matter of time until someone optimizes their favourite games to the point that most developers don't care to do anymore. After seeing what happened in minecraft (though it was only a PoC I think), I wouldn't be surprised if the minimum/recommended requirements for a lot of games have dropped by 1-2 generations in the next few years
