Sony releases a game where the objective is to "borrow" your parents credit card without them noticing.

wouldn't not needing to link your card to your kids account indefinitely be a much safer way? you would need to tap the physical card like a normal purchase (your phone can already do this btw, amazon app supports tap to pay for example)

if your kid is stealing your physical card youve got problems that arent sonys fault. usually the issue comes from kids being able to just click "buy" with no confirmation or real understanding

eta: also typing card numbers on a controller fucking sucks, and if your account gets hacked they now have a bunch of your personal information (and can sometimes actually make purchases)

Kids do stupid stuff all the time when they’re tempted. Even normal, well patented kids can succumb to temptation. You don’t sound like a parent, and that’s ok. You’ll learn eventually.

not a parent, but was a kid and never intentionally stole money from my parents. i did spend $10 unintentionally on a saved card when i changed my xbox 360 gamertag in 2012-ish because i didnt realize it cost money

kids doing stupid shit is inevitable. kids doing something actively malicious is not.

Why? It's better than putting your card into their account when they ask to by something. Now your card isn't saved and used behind your back, and you don't have to risk forgetting to remove it or go through the effort of having to remove it. Now you just tap your card to their controller and it's done. How is that not better?
