It is totally valid to ask questions to lead to your awakening, however no one can say if you are otherkin.
Being otherkin is simply is an identity. Asking "am I otherkin" is like asking "am I trans," nobody but you can say. (Yes I'm ware being otherkin is not a sexuality, it's just an example).
Taking quizzes or questionnaires won't help all that much, as it does not ask the right question. The question is if you identify as anything other than a human, witch can be hard to know. Come time, you will realize if you do or not, but no one can tell you

I prefer identifying with the specific word Nekomimi. I wish to be reincarnated as a nekomomi. I wanna wear gear all day and everyday. It's more than just cosplay, it's my dream self. I picture myself as a cat girl. Can't wait to get my own gear, I'll even get some temporary fangs!! 🐾
I don't feel feline on the inside but I feel so attached and happy with being a nekomimi. It feels like a part of me!!
I don't behave like one though. No hissing or anything like that. But I do get phantom ears sometimes.
You can ask me questions of you want. I'm a yapper

Hello, my name is Jonas, and I kin 3 different Weezer albums. That being Songs From The Black Hole, Pinkerton, and Weezer (aka the blue album). It’s a very strange experience. Listening to a song or an album and simply thinking, “Yeah. That’s me.” It’s really not something that many people can relate to, and although it’s a strange experience, it’s also a beautiful one. To see yourself so deeply and wholly in an art form such as music, I see it as a gift. To be able to confidently express myself in this way online, I am truly grateful. I want to hear more experiences from fellow songkins or musickins. How did you discover it? How do you feel about it? What music/album/song do you kin exactly? Let’s talk about that here.

I have a tail and my mom bought with me cat ears (while not understanding it at all.) and a mask.
It wasn't an animal mask no it was a completly normal black mask covering my mouth and nose with a filter.
When it arived i started wearing it at home. (Its a kind of gear for me) My mom threatened that my dad would get rid of it if i wear it home and school! Even worse would it be she promised! The same person who saw me wearing a tail for MONTHS and said nothing isn't alright with me wearing a mask. Dad had a very simelar negative reaction (without the threaths) and kept asking if its because of an influencer even though i first: don't watch them, second: haven't seen one in 10 months and third: i never copied other people even less influencer. My dad keps blaming all my problems on it.
BECAUSE WELL SORRY THAT I LEARNED I CAN CARE FOR MYSELVES AND AREN'T BLIND TO IT ANYMORE DAD.
I have more such problems and i plan to talk them out with my parents like explaining alterhumanity, genderfluidity, plurality and the fact that the kid they knew didn't know who they themselves where so they should not think of my previos self (ves) as my true me.
Can you tell me how you're coming out worked and don't worry, i have a text written down as an introduction to all the conversation, and their reaction will be a test if they failed i keep stuff to myselves.
I began writing this because their sense of not allowed/accepted is weird and now everything else also came out... well we needed it.

Feel free to ask questions about me!
This is me, I drew a character sheet of myself!
Feel free to ask questions because I recently spent a day looking into this identity, and I have a lot of memories and knowledge about myself and my species.
I am fae adjacent but not a fae myself, and I am the only member of my species as far as I know

(This is a little bit of an informational dump mainly because I'm excited and interested to communicate with you all about things involving otherkin and such)
In 2024 I identified as nonbinary, but it wasn't just "nonbinary." It was that I felt as though my soul, me, wasn't attached to gender, and that I identified with my unlimited soul. I stopped identifying as nonbinary and now identify as genderqueer for the same reasons just slightly altered. I identify as genderqueer because I believe my soul is not nothing, is not no gender or nothing at all, but instead is everything at once, including things that aren't necessarily gender. It's hard to explain this to someone, but when my friend told me about "otherkin" during a random conversation one day, I felt as though it described me well. Since 2020 I've had a long battle of who I was. I am constantly everchanging, going from one place to the other, used to be one identity to the other, one style of fashion to the other, and it affected my life negatively never knowing who I was. Around sometime this year I felt comfortable embracing every gender instead of being stuck as just my own, because my soul is too expansive for this temporary body and I need to be able to feel like the restrictions are loose for once. For me, my soul is this light blue energy that sparkles like the night sky.
How have you all implemented being otherkin into your life? Whether it be changing your pronouns or creating a mask like therians and other paw do, or maybe have a banner in your room you created. I would like to know ways you implemented yours into your life to draw inspiration from as I figure out my own journey.
Now, on a slightly unrelated note, I've always been fascinated by therians or other paws. I love the fact that people have been able to find out who they are and their connection to something specific that doesn't make up them but instead IS them. I don't have an intense connection to any animal specifically, and as a matter of fact its hard for me to find intense connections to a lot of the things I already love. I will say though, I wish for the life of me that I had wings. To fly like a fairy within a forest and be able to sleep in a tree (not in a tree house, in an actual tree) and bathe in a cold lake with an intense waterfall sounds like an absolute dream for me. The only reason I never tie myself to the label of being a fairy and even going to the extent of using fae/faer pronouns is due to the fact that many Celtic people do not like the usage of fae outside of their community (closed practice). It is offensive to use those pronouns, to work with the fae, or to simply think of yourself as that, which is why I usually shrug off the label and never acknowledge myself as such. I could, however, think of myself as a nymph instead. I also have this attachment to stars, I use them as a world in my story. I love looking outside and seeing stars. Though I've never pursued learning about them, stars themselves are just something wonderful to look at.
anyways, thank you for reading my ramble about these things. It is really nice to meet you all :)

So I've looked it up (obviously) and my first thought was quasihuman but that's linked to AI, not otherkinity. Then I looked up demigender and although one of the definitions is "people who have lost touch with their humanity", the word has two other definitions : humanoïd fantasy types (elves, dwarves, orcs), and forms which are in-between human and kin.
Are there any other terms I'm unaware of? If not, I'll default to demihuman, but it bugs me a little that it has two other definitions.

I’m questioning the Queen of Hearts objectkin, so I’d like to hear from some of you to know what the objectkin experience is like, to help me determine whether I’m actually one myself

How and where can i talk about nsfw otherkin issues? i wish this community allowed NSFW questions or rants, but no xenogender, otherkin community allows that i wish we we're more organized. There's an adult otherkin subredit that doesn't allow problematic topics(zoos, packers, dating, hotakes) or hot topics. I also wish we could discuss certain things that i probably can't say here relating to violent impluses as a by-product of being otherkin
Im not a zoo, btw
If anyone wants to create a discord for these topics feel free too

Hey everyone,
It might be an odd question, but how do you deal with being in a human body? Is it possible to ever really be okay with it? Thinking about being stuck in this body has been really bothering me recently. I’ve been very down recently too, which has only added to my discomfort of being in this body. So I suppose I’m looking for advice on how to deal with it, or at least ways to not think about it as much. Knowing I’ll never have wings, in particular, just makes my heart ache. So if you have any advice or suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks for reading

me and my friend are having trouble finding a specific label for something that resonates with me, for a short definition of what we are looking for is; i would like to be a fiction-kin of a character but also would like to still be me and have my own identity.
I apologize if this comes across as a stupid post but we have been searching for a while now and can't find anything that fits close to what they want.
Any help / guidance would be appreciated!

(I wanted to make an introduction since I didn’t do one)
Hi, I’m Dwar (or Seb) !
I’m 17y, I’m Genderfaun and I use no pronouns or if it’s really difficult he/him, I’m also AroAce, semi fictorose and polyamorous (only for fictional characters).
I knew I was otherkin since a year or two ago, but I finally know what I am now. I’m a half-orc otherkin closer to my orc origins than human.
I strictly don’t want to be called a human, but you can call me a an Half-Orc, creature or Orc.
I have high species dysphoria and i’m a biological otherkin meaning that for me, I was born biologically as a half-orc even if I know I’m in a “human” body.
I don’t mind people DM me as long they are between 16-18 years old !
r/otherkin • u/Marrow_xer • 6d ago
It’s been a moment that I live with species dysphoria almost every day and I really hate it.
I’m a half-orc but I still want my orc side.
I wish I could have those teeth, pointy ears, taller and much more muscular, to live with my tribe, be what I should have been.
And the fact I can’t do anything about it hurt so much, I want to be who I am, I want to be seen as what I’m supposed to be.
I don’t know how to deal with that dysphoria and if y’all have any idea of how I can manage that it will be very helpful.
Being in a human body when you’re not a human is terrible.

So, uhhh....I recently awakened as a Axexkin and I was wondering if there are others who are Axexkin and what their experiences may be? I'm just trying to see if maybe there are some overlap with my own. Thanks in advance!
(Also posted in the therian subreddit and the alterhuman subreddit)

I'm a demon of shadow and flame, but I'm thinking I could be a Balrog of Morgoth (felt shifty when I read the Silmarillion and resonated with the dark fire demons who are wholly corrupted by a dark being who marred the world)
idk tbh but I know I'm a fiery shadow demon - a shadow wreathed in fire

I created an anonymous Alterhuman survey, for a project I'm working on!
https://forms.gle/fv1aBhK5AxJygRc26
I would like to specify that I am not associated with any universities or anything like that, this is a personal study I'm working on!
I'm planning on writing an article/paper on this so I'd like to see what results I get!
Tysm for anyone who responds!
It would also help out a lot of you share the survey with others! :3

Hi!
Let me explain what "egokin" means. Egokin is a *kin* type that is so deeply personal that a person can only describe it as the "kin of my 'self'." It’s similar to the concept of *egogender*, but applied to your *kin* type.
My identity is also fluid. Sometimes I feel like an egokin, while at other times I feel human or something in between (at least, that’s how I see it). I have other *kins* too—for example, matter, a dragon, a kitsune, a wolf, and one other creature I can't recall :_) But I think I'll talk about all that in another post.

Hello all, just tossing an introduction into the universe here, it’s my first time posting on redit and figured talking about something I’ve become very comfortable with and have been learning more about over the last year,
I’m Kaelith, I’m a 27 y/o creature/dragonkin, I’m only recently super discovering a lot about this side of myself, I’ve always known that I wasn’t quite human but found it difficult for a long time to really understand what I was and what I felt like, this was until last year while doing some arts I was able to figure myself out, went through a very deep journey in self discovery and looking internally at myself and haven’t been happier with who I now know I am.
I have more kin types outside of dragon I’ve learned but Kaelith has been my most comfortable body.
Enjoy the art of him (art by me)

Hello. I'm a dryad. Lately, I've seen quite a few fae around, so i'm curious. How many of us here are fae?
r/otherkin • u/pixiecrittersomethin • 8d ago
Hello!! This is my first time seeing people like me in a safe space, so I'm sorry if I talk a lot! I'm so excited. I think I'm a faekin, I'm somewhat new to the community but not new to feeling like a fairy. Been like this since I was very small, never thought I was normal, and I was right (autism, ADHD, OCD, emotional dysregulation, and severe POTS!). Took a long while to figure it all out, but now I'm really trying to embrace my otherkin, because it makes me very happy to belong to something when I've been ostracized a lot. When I was young I was a pixie from pixie hollow and would live out my dreams in sims 3 supernatural. Though overtime I felt like a witch, spirit, or yokai, I'm not sure what to make of this or how to express it IRL. Ask me anything and I can answer if it helps identify myself! Thank you!

I've been meaning to draw me/them alone for a while (I have another picture but it's more of a vent pic, and I didn't know if it fit the vibe here, let me know if that's allowed-), and so here it is!
I saved two versions, one cutesy one (with the otherkin symbol) and a creepier version I feel really good about! (I love being a shapeshifter, so I can do whatever I want!)
I usually go for smaller pupils, but honestly, this is a LOOK and I am ✨️loving iiit✨️!🖤
