Which free OpenCode models are fast, reliable workers?
Free stops being useful if the worker stalls or leaves broken code.
I tested 10 OpenCode free models on Oct 8, 2026.
Q&A: probability and executed code; agentic: fix two failing tests, verified by pytest and unchanged test-file hash, 420 s timeout.
| Rank | Model | Score | Q&A | Agentic fix | Seconds |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | mimo-v2.6-flash-free | 100 | 2/2 | pass | 129 |
| 2 | muse-spark-1.3-contributor-free | 99 | 2/2 | pass | 132 |
| 3 | space-bunny-free | 95 | 2/2 | pass | 167 |
| 4 | longcat-2.5-preview-free | 92 | 2/2 | pass | 214 |
| 5 | ling-3.1-flash-free | 91 | 2/2 | pass | 220 |
| 6 | nemotron-3-ultra-free | 70 | probability wrong | pass | 257 |
| 7 | nemotron-3.5-lightning-free | 20 | probability wrong | timeout, 2 failing | 422 |
| 8 | exo-free | 0 | failed/timeout | not run | n/a |
| 8 | fledge-alpha-free | 0 | failed/timeout | not run | n/a |
| 8 | ling-3.0-flash-fin-free | 0 | failed/timeout | not run | n/a |
Score (0-100): floor(20 per correct Q&A item + 40 per passing fix + 20 × 129/seconds for passing fixes only).
Try MiMo or Muse first; Space Bunny is the next pick.
- Keep tests as the oracle.
- Avoid secrets/private data: free models may log prompts.
- Re-check availability and rate limits.
Single repo runs cannot establish reliability; seconds are repo runtime including startup and parallel contention.
Share a free model's fix result and runtime.

Mimo 2.6 flash quite smart, context limiting it but works for a few hours if it needs to better than muse in my opinion

I tried LongCat 2.5 Preview yesterday and the connection was extremely unreliable and slow, but when it did work it wasn't terrible for a free model.

Big pickle works the best for me.
BTW I also use mimov2.6 flash and is quite good... for me

the unchanged test hash is such a smart guard against the agent editing its own oracle. do u separate provider queue time from model time? quick disclosure, this is a client related note about raven.

If only mimo didn't spend 10 fucking minutes thinking about how to delete a file
