Whats even funnier is that if you go to si.gov:

Error 1000

Ray ID: [censored]

DNS points to prohibited IP

What happened?

You've requested a page on a website (si.gov) that is on the Cloudflare network. Unfortunately, it is resolving to an IP address that is creating a conflict within Cloudflare's system.

Please see https://developers.cloudflare.com/support/troubleshooting/http-status-codes/cloudflare-1xxx-errors/error-1000/ for more details.

What can I do?

If you are the owner of this website: you should login to Cloudflare and change the DNS A records for si.gov to resolve to a different IP address.

its creating many other errors like cname across multiple accounts

and before you ask, yes i know what a ray id is

sa.gov would be more appropriate for this administration anyway.

Someone bought the domain and is waiting for a payday.

https://www.cisa.gov/audiences/state-local-tribal-and-territorial-government/secure-us-sltt/migrate-gov-domain

Unlike the other domains,  .gov is reserved exclusively for U.S.-based government organizations .

So are you saying that a government organization sniped it?

If they already own it, are they too incompetent to change the domain to point to the new site and get a new cert?

1

u/OppositeFun2493 4d ago

Yeah obviously I checked the whois already, but even on ai.gov there is a link to https://www.ai.gov/action-plan and it is a 404 so they are kinda incompetent

The federal government is a fucking joke. What do you expect?

79

u/ankerverse 6d ago

Excuse me, the federal government is Super Intelligent now /s

13

u/ChanglingBlake 5d ago

Compared to a rock, maybe.

A normal rock, not the thinking rocks we call computers.

7

u/ankerverse 5d ago

That's insulting to the rocks

3

u/ChanglingBlake 5d ago

Yeah, it’s hard to compare them to anything without insulting the other thing.

3

u/rmorrill995 4d ago

A rock can actually be useful at least

7

u/One_Economist_3761 6d ago

Agreed. Maybe if by “Super Intelligence” they mean “No Intelligence”

6

u/OppositeFun2493 5d ago

I mean AI sounds "too fake" so maybe "Super Intelligence" is even more fake

5

u/Elohims-sixth-wife 5d ago

Noooooo, something something biden’s fault actually don’t you know?

They had a week and its still broken?

https://si.gov/

https://web.archive.org/web/20261009032031/https://si.gov/

That part shouldn't be hard.

u/predator1975 5d ago

Government ran out of tokens?

19

u/mattlag 6d ago

SÍ, GOV

9

u/acheesement 5d ago

Imagining a Spanish Cockney now.

I have no expertise in this area but suspect transitioning to a different domain name might take a bit longer than the President's thought bubble takes to pop.

74

u/Ai--Ya 6d ago

I'm sorry the website is transitioning? No thank you, I'll call AI what it was assigned at conception, thank you very much

16

u/Yuukiko_ 6d ago

The logo on the top says AI

4

u/Clean_Bat5547 6d ago

True, true.

7

u/mrGrinchThe3rd 5d ago

Yes, it's clear you have no expertise in this area. From a technical perspective, someone could register a new domain (like si.gov) and point it to the exact same website within an hour. The actual DNS registration may take a day or so to propogate, but at this point it's been almost 7 days so it's clear nobody has even taken the first step.

Perhaps there are particular restrictions on the .gov domain that would make this more challenging, but with personal projects I can pay $10, buy a domain, and have my website showing on that domain within a day, usually within an hour.

1

u/sp46 4d ago

The gov domains that were registered during Trump II are all managed via Cloudflare and have the same DNS tools available

10

u/Ok_Support3 6d ago

I despise the adminstration but, isn't the website actually ai . gov?

13

u/pnw-techie 5d ago

It used to be. It's si.gov now following the lunatic executive order to not call ai ai anymore

3

u/Pschobbert 5d ago

I got an error 1000 from Cloudflare when I tried it.

"DNS points to prohibited IP"

4

u/pnw-techie 5d ago

Yes. Hence this post. All they had to do was change one letter, how hard could it be

2

u/chughaarav123 5d ago

if you go to https://ai.gov on the front-page it says "SI GOV"

18

u/jfk333 5d ago

Do you remember when colleges used to say you can use the government as a trusted source so long as you proper cite them? You never needed to check if what they said was true, just because they were consistent enough to be trustworthy.

3

u/VioletteKaur 5d ago

I hope everyone who ever cited them used a permalink and dated their citation.

2

u/jfk333 5d ago

Is it really a citation if you don't write date of access, because I know a few professors that will tell you no it doesn't count 😂

3

u/VioletteKaur 4d ago

This is a mantra at Uni.

9

u/30CrowsinaTrenchcoat 5d ago

I cannot see SI without thinking Suicidal Ideation.

Years as a counselor and suicide hotline worker drilled that acronym into me. I know it has other meanings, too, but it sure isnt synonymous with AI unless you speak French.

3

u/VioletteKaur 5d ago

In this case it stands for "shit ideas".

5

u/Babushla153 5d ago

Did elon tusk make this?

5

u/Badeky 5d ago

International System of Units * GOV

3

u/VioletteKaur 5d ago

What happened to the freedom units (FU)?

3

u/Nunyebiznis 5d ago

Shit Intelligence

3

u/wstsidhome 5d ago

Super Idiocracy vibes happening…you know…SI vibes

4

u/makingkevinbacon 5d ago

Lol it's still in the url

1

u/MacaronNo5646 5d ago

More like No Intelligence, amirite?

1

u/MennReddit 5d ago

it's now defined as Donnie's enemy..

1

u/Our-Fearless-Reader 5d ago

Oh, at least the title splash is en español.  The web address and corner title, no tanto.

1

u/WesolyKubeczek 5d ago

Subpar Intelligence

1

u/ChefHannibal 5d ago

I guess they're the enemy now, according to Supreme Leader

1

u/DiodeInc 5d ago

There's no exit button when you open the menu 😂

1

u/Mimig298 5d ago

Sistema internacional

1

u/xtianlaw 5d ago

They've nationalized Sports Illustrated?

1

u/Nwolf607 5d ago

So we’re measuring the time waste this was in seconds now.. SI

1

u/Pschobbert 5d ago

I guess they need to change the domain name...

1

u/rademene 4d ago

AI in Polish is literally translated as "Sztuczna Inteligencja" (SI). What a coincidence.

1

u/AaronTheElite007 4d ago

The domain is still 'ai.gov'

1

u/obrazovanshchina 3d ago

The dumbest timeline.

Also artificial intelligence come at me bro.

1

u/StitchFan626 6d ago

That's what happens when you give AI control.

1

u/revdon 5d ago

Instead of Trump let's call him Superficial Intelligence.

1

u/RhetoricalOrator 5d ago

Seems a bit generous...

-6

u/GoatCovfefe 5d ago

Rule 3

7

u/ThreeCharsAtLeast 5d ago

This is not a typo, the US government rebranded AI made by US companies to SI (super inteligence) recently. Looks like the web designers missed a few spots.

1

u/glowFernOasis 5d ago

I'm sure they have other priorities, and this looks like they've made some steps to update things, so it's probably enough to keep up the appearance of cooperation.
