He is one of my favorite fights. If I may be honest, the terrain thing causing the light pillar spawns to fuck up never really got me killed more than maybe 4-5 times, and all the deaths beside that were because I did not dodge correctly or failed to recognize an attack. He was a real struggle at first just cause I had to train myself to recognize when the cross slash was coming, and failing to react to it cause of poor positioning got me killed many a time, though by maybe death 150 i was easily able to see it and dodge. I will say as well that miquella's giant fuckin hair being in the way in phase 2 was a bit annoying, but it's not an issue if you remember that you ALWAYS should be in front of him and hugging his right leg.

I would like to also note that I loved dodging his gravity meteors, because after the clones ground explosion you can follow up with 2 charged heavies on the pata, essentially a free 60 poise buildup. I would also often count his stance buildup in my head, which is why sometimes I'd go for a second charged heavy knowing i'd get the stance break.

This is now the end of my first ever rl1 run on any of the fromsoft games. I did all remembrances in base game + dlc, choosing to stay at sb0 for the dlc. I'll probably make a follow-up post rating my experience with every remembrance boss.

Final total playtime on this run: 131 hours.

Overall - good weapon. It has some memes with sometimes looking like you should hit things, but then you kinda don't...especially on after-roll attacks. Worst bosses of course were NPCs, cause CGS are not really good at dealing with them and best ash they have for this is wild strikes which does work SOMETIMES, but without any help it also fails quite often. I kid you now, whole run is 33 hours and 6 of those are Fia's simps and another 4 are Gideon. So like, NPCs took THIRD of the time it took to kill all other bosses. Besides them the worst was probably Godfrey, but that's cause I hate this guy and never practice him. Everyone else was basically under 30 attempts, including the most sad unhitless Malenia ever. Compared to my recent Rl1+0 PvP character setup this was a breeze of a run.

Oh, and Rykard was killed with serpent hunter, I'm sorry but I had no interest in being staggered by his lava 90% of the time. I count it as a pass cause its a gimmick fight and you expected to use gimmick weapon.

Idk about DLC, but there's 3 bosses that really make me not want to do it - Metyr, Jori and DBDL. 2 DPS checks (best dodge of Metyr's laser is to never see it in the first place right) and one boss that I despise. I mean, I won't do another SB0, but still...stinky bosses. Oh, and Leda's gank exists in this world too (sad).

I started a DS1 SL1 run in 2018 and got to Gwyn but ended up getting side tracked and lost the file. Started over to get the asterisk taken care of. Did all bosses SL1 in Demon’s Souls and DS3. Might take a break and circle back to DS1 DLC. Time to play some Castlevania!

This boss took me 4 days to finally get the successful hitless kill

I was going to have a win featuring stuff like close range Collapsing Stars strafe... until Torrent got clipped by his corkscrew attack when bro was 2 hits away. Idk if horse counts as a hit tho.

I suspect the bow skip was made more inconsistent in 1.17. I recommend walking until you are right in front of the debris pile in the video, dodging the first, waiting for him to nock an arrow, then deloading him. The process of figuring that out was quite frustrating. I also entered the portal and instantly fell through the arena 3 times, so the patch may have broken something.

The arrow phase is kind of bullshit imo. The main issue is arrow rain into arrow spray, it feels completely RNG on horse which you need to outrun arrow rain. If anyone has a fully consistent method for dealing with arrow phase that isn't deloading him let me know.

Anyway, Radahn is pretty difficult. Weird moves that require weird dodges, and weird delays like the slash he holds for several seconds. He stalls a lot, and is kind of easy to whiff against imo. Could be the weapon, I thought Alabaster's was way better than this axe despite the higher damage per hit.

Cool boss overall tho.

Out of all the 197 bosses I've killed in my RL1 SB0 run so far, this is the first time I'm using Star Fist, just because I don't want to deal with her bullshit

After many more attempts that I got really close, I finally beat her, just because I got good rng and she didn't give birth to any lesser fingercreepers

But god, while her first phase is mostly fine, even fun at times, her second is just random bullshit that look cool but make the boss fight so much worse...

I literally had an attempt where she entered her 2nd phase, immediately spinned in the air, summoned her space balls, spinned in the air again, summoned her undodgeable laser (thank god for Raptor of the Mists), summoned her balls again, spinned in the air again, did her jump, and then sniped me with her triple laser cause I tried to get close... Like, you can't make this shit up, you just need to get lucky and avoid most of her bullshit to beat her

Yes, I beat her, but compared to Messmer who I just want to keep fighting over and over again and I'm kinda happy every time I die just cause I can face him again, with her I'm just relieved that it's over, and I don't have to do this again... such a shame, everything about Metyr is really cool, except the actual boss fight, such wasted potential...

If you're having trouble with this boss, consider picking up a baseline rapid poison set-up. 2x +16.8 radials from gravekeeper mother scorpions in FRC Ihyll and 1x +18.4 triangular from a BPS mob in FRC Lower Loran provide enough build-up to proc rapid poison on this boss in four hits/rolls.

I forgot how much of a massive pain in the ass these 2 are. I somehow lost my save file from 2018 and had to start my SL1 run over. Their difficulty definitely holds up still. Had to put thee ole axe murderer on Ornstein.

A little scuffed but a 6 minute fight is progress, will keep trying to improve - he's just really hard, but he is really fun too.

I beat all fromsoft games at base level and found Bloodborne to be far and away the hardest (without including chalice dungeons). Since I do these runs blind (without looking at tips or strategies from other people), I ended up using the hunter’s axe for the entirety of the run. How much did I screw myself over by doing this, considering the fact that, as far as I can see, the saw cleaver is the far superior weapon?

Definitely my smoothest SL1 run, by far the fewest deaths in this run compared to other runs.

I voluntarily replay this boss too often to say I hate it.

I think Elden Beast is more learnable and "fair" than many of the other bosses that get hate. It's a decent boss that is parastically attached to one of the greatest bosses they've ever made while taking much longer to kill, so the contrast doesn't exactly help.

Wave of Gold is fine imo, you always have time to run forward or back and it's one of his most interesting moves. Sky Needles are annoying and I'd rather they didn't exist, but the dodge isn't too unreasonable. I could still do without the stalling, especially the scripted flying attacks that only drag out the fight, but it's overall decent fun when he isn't constantly repositioning or using sky needles. Almost the entire moveset suggests this boss was intended to be simple and relaxing.

Makes me wonder what the intention was with Elden Stars. The only way to dodge it was certainly not intended. Plus he can act nearly immediately out of Elden Stars so you usually have to deal with 2-3 attacks at once. Surely they would have noticed the move was undodgeable (as far as they knew), especially with the ridiculous tracking it has. But they still put it in the game???

Some other fun features:
- Sometimes delaying using Elden Stars at the health threshold. Really annoying when you drop punishes in anticipation of it and he just doesn't use it.
- Invisible walls suck when so many moves require running.
- Being able to use Elden Stars more than once is beyond stupid. What do you even do when he uses it at long range?
