Analysis How OU beats Kentucky by the numbers
Oklahoma wins by forcing Kentucky into third-and-long, where OU is 2nd in FBS and Kentucky's offense is 135th, and then converting one or two passing-down shots against the 137th-ranked passing-downs defense. They don't need the run game. They need to not lose the turnover battle, because their defense has already proven it can play a flawless game and lose by four touchdowns on short fields.
Oklahoma's defense forces a three-and-out on more than half of all opposing drives — second in FBS behind New Mexico. Kentucky's offense goes three-and-out on 26.8%, 36th. Something gives.
OU's offense starts at its own 27.3. OU's opponents start at their own 32.5 — 133rd of 138. Oklahoma's defense is 5th in the country while routinely defending a short field, and it's the only top-10 PPA defense in America with a field-position deficit of more than three yards. That's not sustainable the way the raw defensive numbers look.

News OU Injury Report - Fasusi Still Questionable
4 O-Line are listed as questionable, including Fasusi, EPL, and Ozaeta.
So much for Fasusi being "almost ready."
Eli Bowen is also questionable as is Parker Livingstone.
4 starters down and Ozaeta had played a fair amount of snaps as well.

Discussion 2027 QB
Do we have any idea what QB we could potentially get in the portal for next season? I don’t assume we would risk one of our current backups leading the charge next season.

News Fasusi Update
Maybe I'm reading too much into BV's wording, but sounds like Fasusi may be out for Kentucky (in that he is not yet currently ready). BV phrased it as good news, so I'm not sure.

Analysis The Moment That PROVES John Mateer Turned the Corner
In real time I noticed right before Mateer threw the ball to Sategna down the right sideline that he looked over and gave Sategna a subtle nod, as if telling him he was going to go his way. It was the type of nonverbal communication you would expect to see from two vets who have been working together for years. This made me think "is Mateer getting his confidence back?" So, I looked at the data.
Going all the way back through the previous 8 games, Mateer was sitting at 1-for-13 (8%) throwing into the deep right zone. It was comfortably his worst spot on the field. Then, with the game tied 24-24 and 12 seconds left against the #1 defense in the country, he drops a dime right down the right hash to Sategna for the game-winner.
I wanted to know if that was just a lucky fluke or actual evolution, so I pulled the splits between the first half and second half against Texas:
- First Half: 10 of 13 (77%), average air yards at just 5.9, with 12 of 13 passes landing short of the sticks.
- Second Half: 8 of 13 (62%), but average air yards jumped up to 11.8, with 4 deep shots launched.
It looks like the short-passing game in the first half was entirely by design to neutralize Texas' pass rush and build a rhythm, but it gave Mateer the confidence boost he needed to uncork the deep ball when it mattered most.
Even better for OU? When you look at the defensive EPA metrics for the rest of the schedule, 5 of the last 7 pass defenses left on the schedule rank 62nd or worse nationally.

Analysis [No Paywall] I made a game-winning field goal to upset the No. 1 team. It was years in the making
I said: I don’t want you to help me make this. I just want you to give me a chance. Give me a chance to win the game for the guys.
That wasn’t checking a box. It wasn’t fake. I want that spotlight at the highest level. I want to be in the scenario where you either end up with a legacy or you break about a million hearts. I want the chance to write my own story. You’ve got to have the guts and courage to put yourself out there.
And I’ve always bet on myself.
After high school, I walked on at the University of Texas at San Antonio. We’d get free meals at the dining hall, and that’s how I saved money. I’d crunch numbers in the fast food line, trying to figure out how I could save money. Trying to figure out how I could extend the dream as long as I could.
I tried to find ways to get the most out of everything. It really is a mentality. I made every single thing a competition to try to get a leg up on somebody else who had more than me. To try to find a way to weasel my way onto the field.
We’d warm up on a Thursday practice in the spring. There were no stakes. Nobody really cared. But I tried to put the best warm-up possible just so the coaches could get a look down the road at what I could do.
Little battles like that. I tried not to take a single rep for granted.
When it was raining at UTSA, we used to pack up and go to the Alamodome. The way our practice was scheduled, we would kick during the first period of practice.
One day we got off the bus once and the starting kicker wasn’t warmed up.
I was sitting on the bench and said: I’ll go kick.
I went in cold and hit all five field goals. I took that so seriously. As if that was going to be what won me the job.
That mentality somehow led me here to Oklahoma. I transferred from UTSA after three years. I really didn’t want to do it. It took me three years to win the dang job. But I had to bet on myself.

Discussion Chip Kelly to Oklahoma as Offensive Coordinator?
Chip Kelly to Oklahoma as Offensive Coordinator?
It’s a conversation worth having.
National championship experience. An established offensive identity. A proven history of developing productive running games and quarterbacks.
Pairing an experienced offensive mind like Kelly with Brent Venables’ defensive philosophy is an intriguing possibility.
No reports of discussions between OU and Kelly, but it’s a name worth examining if Oklahoma makes an offensive change.

Discussion What adjustments were made on the o-line against Texas?
Did we make any adjustments on the o-line at half time? We seemed to run the ball with ease for the first time this year. Do we know if we made any specific adjustments?

Analysis Need some hopium for OU offense? Toughest defenses faced are behind us.
This doesn't mean the things we can control are fixed, but the rest of the schedule is setting up for a dramatic improvement in the offense.
Last year, our schedule was back loaded and we saw offense go down hill at the end. This year it was front loaded.

Discussion PFF Grades for the Defense
I know PFF has flaws but it’s fun to follow it.. but these grades make no sense for our defense! Even Courtland Guillory who has the highest grade should be higher than that! I don’t know what else you want from a cornerback!

Discussion Even when Texas wins RRS, their celebrations are worse than OU
Longhorn stole Baker's celebration while planting the flag on his jersey when Baker had not played in college for nearly a decade.

Tickets Ticket Accessibility?
I'm a senior in high school, and I am looking at what colleges to attend next year, and a way to pick which school to attend is going to football games.
I want to attend an Oklahoma game and the only weekend that me and my friends can attend is the A&M game. I am not sure who this A&M team is but it's the only weekend that I can attend.
Is it hard for an non-student/high schooler to get access to the OU student tickets? I know students resell their tickets but I am not sure how the ticket system works.
