Sounds like a prank, or PR cover-up.

"The voice recording used in this instance does not reflect Jack in the Box’s brand standards or values and was not approved by Jack in the Box. It has been immediately disabled.

The water system mentioned is a ground-surface cleaning mechanism that automatically cleans the ground area in between routine pressure washing. It is not positioned to interfere with guests or passersby."

I can't imagine anyone thinking this was a good idea - other than some min-wage in the back got hold of the system some how.

Had to be a prank by someone, but Jacks is gonna get sued for it.

Those 'min-wages' are not paid enough to give a shit if there's hobos outside. What a ridiculous thing to fart from your faceholes.

Those min-wages are the only ones stupid enough to play a joke like this. Sucks to suck, don't it.

Eh, they survived E Coli. What's a little torrential rain?

Just barely. They still aren't once they once were.

That depends. If sales are up because there is less loitering they will not care.

Shifting a few more Baffler Meals a month is not going to compensate for the shit PR.

"If you come to Jack in the Box, we don't have weird people loitering around, guaranteed"

That... might be mixed PR at worst?

There is a jack in the box in my town that absolutely does this, I was surprised to see it was a completely different location and state in the article.

It has a bus stop on one corner and a lot of panhandlers and little encampments pop up. The sprinklers water way further than the grass, all the way past the sidewalk to the street.

Only in San Diego could a person even consider having a bike that isn't waterproof. Come on, if you have outdoor toys they have to survive outdoors.

As ot the system, there's no way that's just for sidewalk washing. Sprinkling from higher up means the water will be less well controlled in windy conditions. This system is definitely designed to push people off the sidewalk. No matter what they say.

It isn't an anti loitering system, gosh people... Given the heat wave we have been having lately, Jack in the Box felt that their new "Cool the Customer" system deserved it's moment!

It is all about the marketing...
