Well they already got hurt, and if I a reply now then they will be reminded of when I didn't answer and get hurt again. Best to not answer at all and just let them forget i exist

Speaking as someone with a friend that just randomly won't answer me for weeks, even if they start the convo, just send the damn text.
I'd much rather know you were just in your own head about stuff rather than think you just don't care enough to answer me, ever.

I 💯 feel this. That and I will genuinely worry about them at some point. And it depends on the nature of the conversation.

From the outside perspective, friends don't forget you exist. The hurt isn't felt by a late reply nearly as much as feeling like a disposable connection that doesn't matter enough to come back to even if it's awkward or uncomfortable.

I’m an introvert and I usually respond right away cause I want to get it out of the way.
Don’t need “text person back” hanging around in my head.

But phone calls are the bane of my existence. I never want to talk to anyone on the phone, ever.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I absolutely hate handling phone calls and Ive realized over the past few months, I think my girlfriend is starting to slowly realize.
There are small, trivial issues that'll come up and she'll immediately hit me with "Babe, do you want me to call them?"
Texting? Don't even get me started on texting.
Look. You're my friend. I understand I may not have reached out in a while but, I just wanna come home after work and actually unwind and unfortunately... The weekends are for my woman

OMG There are others like me?!!?!
My presence in a public space is always tainted with the fear of running into a "text person back" person. I prepare excuses in advance and try not to use the same excuse twice on the same individual.
Is there an introvert circle out there or a support group of some sort? We should unite (not) and never phone each other !!!
I totally get it if I don't get any response.

it's more like, "I'll answer later" (even though I have time), and then forget about it. and when I remember, i think answering late is weird.

Bold of you to assume I open texts I'm not ready to reply too

I just won't open it, like it's believable I didn't touch my phone for 2 weeks. 😅😭

I am extremely extroverted and I have some introverted friends, one really introverted. Even though being on opposite ends of the spectrum, I’m an empath. I feel it’s important to respect and appreciate that this is how they are built just like how I’m overly extroverted.

A friend of mine hung up on me mid-sentence once. I decided I'd give her the space to call me first. After 7 years, sent her a text telling her to go fuck herself.

I made the effort to text, follow up on a phone call, and make plans to meet in person. Even booked the reservation. Why did I do this to myself?

Nope. I'll see opened text three weeks later and think, " whoops! Ah well, fuck em." 🤷♂️

Yes, and then I get a follow up reaction on it if I have an answer already, and then i stress a bit. But never to close friends, only second circle friends and further

I don't know what you think introverts are. But I respond to my texts ASAP. I just like to spend a lot of time alone (with my dogs).

Yeah, I did that once and then my friend killed his wife and himself and I felt terrible for ignoring him,

Not oddly specific if you a an American woman age 25-50 in a blue or purple state that was expected to do more with their gifts by a family member.

My anxiety works differently and makes me respond immediately most of the time. Then feel weird when they take more time to respond.
