Seeking sponsor for sanctuary fundraiser

Hi all! I’m connected with a farmed animal sanctuary upstate, and we are hoping to have a NYC fundraiser at Ladybird this fall but we need sponsors to help us cover the cost of the venue and food (about $6k). Does anyone know any corporations or individuals who might be interested in partnering? Obviously would explain more if so!

JaJaJa closed their Hudson Yards/Whole Foods location

More devastating news for the NYC vegan community!! šŸ˜” I haven’t gone in person to confirm that this location is gone, but it isn’t on delivery apps anymore, Google states that it’s permanently closed, and the VEGAN.NYC Facebook group also made a post about it a few days ago.

I’m heartbroken but hoping with all my might that 2027 creates not only a revival of all the things we lost during/after COVID, but also a landscape for new concepts and ideas ā¤ļø We’re long overdue for an upwards trend of positivity and possibility.

What to eat right now ? pov: i’m indecisive as hell

I live in midtown manhattan and it’s past dinner time but i’m an indecisive prick and also had a very long day and don’t wanna think!
I’ve been sitting with doordash open unable to decide what to eat.
For context:
I had half a bagel in the morning, rice and paneer with curd in lunch (office special lunch), i had some dried mango snack and it’s time for dinner now! SUGGEST IDEAS.
Mostly my sister would do the thinking for me! Let’s see if the algorithm pushes the post in the next 15 minutes to get me food?

I’m also vegetarian.

Vegan D&D?

I recently moved (back) to NYC and would love to cobble together a D&D group! I'm 31, vegan, and overall pretty tolerable as a human being, I think.

I'm envisioning a group of maybe 5–6 people who want to play D&D and eat vegan food once a month or so. I'm not a super experienced D&Der, so I'd ideally be looking for someone else to DM. I think we would start with a "session zero" to get on the same page in terms of group norms, what kind of experience everyone is looking for, etc., and then go from there.

Please DM me if you're interested! :-)

Vegan On The Fly is closing. Literally the best vegan halal food in the city is closing its doors in a month. I’ve been vegan nearly 3 years and have ordered from them so many times. I’m sad to see them go

Looking for a Fancy 100% Vegan Restaurant for my sweet sixteen

Im going to NYC late december for my birthday and I want a 100% vegan restaurant to go to, im open to any type of food but most of the people who are going with me are not plant based and are heavy meat eaters so im being mindful of that, i would also like a place that is around midtown

Ive seen some of Chef Guy Vaknins restaurants and they look really good especially Anixi and Le basque, but some people have been talking about his political beliefs which im not sure are 100% true.

Any recommendations would be great!

Your favorite affordable meal/restaurant

If you had to pick your favorite, most affordable entree or restaurant in NYC, what would you pick (vegan friendly included)? My pick would be the Croissant sandwich from Gregory’s Coffee for $8.99.

FYI Gregory’s Coffee Vegan Brekkie Sammies GOT BIGGER!

Post image
129 Upvotes

For anyone that didn’t know, Gregory’s all over the city serve a vegan deluxe egg cheese and sausage sandwich on a croissant and they recently got bigger - double the filling! I was there today and noticed the price went up slightly (still under $10) as well but it makes sense! It was super satisfying and they’re all over the city so I didn’t have to trek somewhere specific to fulfill my vegan breakfast sandwich craving!

They also have a new vegan breakfast wrap that I have yet to try.

Wanted to share the word in case you didn’t know about these! I’m hoping they keep them on the menu, they’re delicious!

Edit: sorry I didn’t get a better pic šŸ˜… it’s a whole wheat croissant, I swear it’s tasty!

Had a great trip to NYC!

Hello /r/nycvegan, I asked a couple of weeks ago about your favorite restaurants and got lots of responses. We just came back from our trip and ate really well while we were in New York. From the list of recommendations we had meals at Bodhi Kosher Vegan, Jajaja, ATM Vegan Deli, Beyond Sushi, Peacefood, and Tenon Vegan Sushi.

There were about 30 more restaurants on the list that we didn't get to on this trip, so we'll be sure to visit more of them next time we're in NYC!

The next market:
New York. No. 05. November 7–8. Midtown

This clip is three years old.
That’s our very own Jonny on the sax in the first venue where it all started. He’s been at every market since, and so have many of you. The ones who’s made this experience so special.

When we recorded this, we didn’t know what @mindfulmattermarket could become but it’s clearer now.

Four markets later, thousands of people, so many memories. We’re creating new ones, this time in Midtown Manhattan, share this with someone who’d love to be therešŸ¤Ž

Early bird tickets are out now until October 25th.
Vendor and musician applications close Tuesday 20th October.

All info, www.mindfulmattermarket.com

give thanks

Confused about where to stay on the night of Oct 31 to dine at top NYC restaurants

Looks like many hotels are sold out due to the Marathon on Nov 1.

I stayed at Marriott Marquis the last 2 times I visited this year for a night to enjoy NYC's vegan culinary delights. I had initially planned to do a day-trip to avoid paying for a hotel but I wouldn't be able to visit again until March due to winter weather (I live in CA & can't handle chilly winters), so I booked Marriott Marquis again but there's a huge opportunity cost - I could use my Marriott Bonvoy points in London next summer.

The restaurants I plan to dine at are Dirt Candy, Hangawi, abcV, Bunna Cafe/Ras Vegan, Buddha Bodai, Orchard Grocer, Spicy Moon, Peacefoods (will not dine-in at Peacefoods and could also opt for delivery). I might go to Omakaseed again if their menu has changed since September.

Based on distances, a hotel near Penn Station, Herald Square, or Koreatown seems to make more sense, but I was wondering what y'all think (what about a cheap hotel near JFK?), as I noticed some people here are not NYC residents but visit NYC for good food.

Thank you!

This place is so amazing. I know, New Jersey isn't New York, but whenever I find myself driving out of the city I have to hit this place. Their sandwiches are insane, absolutely stacked with seitan, literally the best sandwiches anywhere near the city.

Looking for someone interested in some vegan activism partnership

Inspired by Ed Winters (EarthlingEd), I'd love to attempt some grassroots activism by having having discourse with the public. Create, post, share, etc. All in an attempt to have people ask questions most don't think about.

In addition to the debate table, I'd like to have an art stand (doesn't have to be "vegan"artwork) that attracts the public. There would be free material- maybe a free plant based cookbook- for participants.

Let me know your thoughts! This is something I keep thinking about and it's time to do something about. Let's schedule and zoomeeting or quick phone call.

Thoughts on Cinnaholic?

Tried Cinnaholic for the first time yesterday (their grand opening, I think?). I'll be honest: I thought the cinnamon rolls looked super trashy -- like something you'd buy at a fast-food restaurant in Kansas. The icings are especially hideous looking -- gloppy, thick, and unappetizing in appearance. However: I thought it tasted quite good: fresh, cinnamon-y (duh), and a nice texture. Would eat again, I think. I liked the variety of toppings too -- some of them quite unique.

I am curious what omnivores will think of them -- cannot imagine many vegans live in Chelsea and this place will depend on non-vegan business? I can't predict this, because so many of those cookie places here in NYC appear to make a killing, and the cookies (to me) look terrible. So what do I know.

Have any of you -- or most of you? -- been?

Vegan restaurant.

I will be in Jax for one night. Would like recommendations for a good vegan restaurant. Hopefully fully vegan or at least vegetarian with vegan options.

Thanks in advance.
