Hi! This is actually my first post, and I need help. I'm extremely creative and have a lot of ideas, but at the same time the best thing I'm good at is writing but I wanted to make a real game out of it, and I wanted adviceses of how to start! I hope someone can help.

The question is, what kind of game do you want to do? Which genre or direction, how complex is the story? Everyone has ideas.

If you are a writer, the simplest game to make is probably a visual novel, hold the visuals. You can use Twine or Visual Novel Maker to make that. So plot out a story and write.

My best advice is to invest some time into self-driven research to create a foundation on how to create your own works. Do this before you do anything else. If you don't do it for yourself you're likely to not learn what you need to in order to succeed in this industry.

Try something small first — something you can finish in a few months and where you can practice your art skills. Put it on Steam, learn the process, and your second game will be even better. :)

Hi! I'm an artist, but not the best writer. If you'd be up to a chat, feel free to DM me and maybe we can collaborate. If not, no hard feelings!

You'll need to find a good artist or become one yourself. Most games are carried purely by art and noone will see your story without it.

While I agree that art is probably the quickest and safest way to find success in this area, it's definitely not the only way. There are plenty of games that take a text-focused approach or are even pure text that have achieved varying levels of success

I think the biggest problem will be the art part, I always end up thinking about that

As Popiell said, good art is one of the last things you need to worry about. Get a good idea for the story, make the gameplay using simple placeholder art, and make sure it all works. Once you have that, you can shop around and find an artist (or learn to do that yourself). Much easier to find someone when you already have the general game built and you have had time to think about the style you want.
Stick figures are perfectly acceptable for a prototype. Anything else is overkill until you have the basics worked out.

Hello! I'd say some good starting tools if you’re coming from a writing background are Twine (the most text-based of the three), RenPy (focused on visual novels), and RPG Maker (focused on JRPGs).
Honestly all three are very battle-tested and have popular NSFW games published with them
