I know! It was so serene and pleasant.
Also kind of funny how I hadn't thought about this tune in decades but when I heard it I immediately remembered every note of how it went.

I was 13 for the first season and wanted to grow up to be a middle-age guy like Dick Louden, with everything he had except Kirk.

This series made me want to move to Vermont, had a coworker out in Washington state that decided to quit and bought a hotel out there. Got to go out there a couple times and stay there at his place

Vermont was an AMAZING place to live and raise a family. Maybe one day I'll move back. I doubt it but who knows. I lived there for 38 years. Moving away was a great choice for me but I get why some people want to go there. Or never leave

I don't see people mentioning it much, but the first season of this show was ROUGH. Kirk Devane might be one of the worst sitcom characters of all-time.
I get what they were going for with the fast talking schemer. It just did not work at all. He played off the rest of the cast terribly.

I tried and succeeded in forgetting that guy. I was wondering where Peter Scolari and Julia Duffy were in the credits and then I remembered that they weren’t in that first season.

Julia Duffy was fucking hilarious in this show.
Newhart was one of those rare TV shows that got better as it got older. Bob Newhart was awesome and the supporting cast uniformly was just as good.

I have memories of listening to this theme song from my dark bedroom because I wasn’t allowed to stay up and watch it

this looks about as close to paradise as possible and about equally as far away from reality given today's economy. maybe that's just from where i'm standing, though.

I hated this show. Never laughed once. The "Hi, I'm Larry, this is my brother Darryl, and this is my other brother Darryl.", bit got old fast and was a constant.
Strangely enough, I liked the actor who played Larry. He was in the A&W Root Beer commercials, either as Larry or a close proximity of him. And he was also on Babylon 5.

One of the best series finales of all time.
