Discussion Why do some New Mexico Tech students seem mean or cliquey?

I used to attend New Mexico Tech, and some of my experiences with students felt more like high school than college. I know that doesn’t describe everyone, but I’m curious: have others had similar experiences, or did I just run into a few people who weren’t very welcoming?

Discussion Why do New Mexico Tech students seem like assholes sometimes?

I used to attend New Mexico Tech, and some of my experiences with students were really frustrating. At times, the social scene felt more like high school than college: cliques, immature behavior, people being rude to each other, and trouble having a normal conversation or handling disagreement respectfully. I’ve also seen some guys act awkward or disrespectful when talking to women.
I’m not saying every NMT student is like this, but I’ve encountered enough of it to wonder whether others have noticed the same thing. Is this just a few people I happened to meet, or do other students and former students feel like the campus social culture can be immature or unwelcoming?
