AMA - Ended Hi, I'm DjMonkey: Creator of Tales from The Dancing Moon!💃🌙 Ask Me Anything!

Hello everyone! I'm DjMonkey!

After developing a set of popular base building mods for No Man's Sky, I decided to develop my own IP as a solo game developer. 💃🌙

Tales from The Dancing Moon took around 4 years to develop purely in my spare time and is inspired by life sim, narrative, adventure games, and portal story fiction (think - Narnia!). It’s very much a by-product of the COVID lockdown era, where I was unashamedly playing hours of Animal Crossing, and binge-watching Critical Role (The Mighty Nein!). In a way the game is a bit of a mashup of genres influenced by these things.

I'm particularly proud of the story I've written within the game, and the niche cultural references to British and Welsh culture and locations! Last year I released it on Steam after an Early Access period.

However - I was laid off recently from my actual job (boo!), which gave me time to port it to the Nintendo Switch! (yay!) You win some, you lose some, ey!?

Prior to gamedev I was in film and feature animation studios as a character and creature specialist. Past work including Maleficent, X-Men Days of Future Past, Captain America: Civil War, and animated features like Ron's Gone Wrong!

I'm happy to bring my little game to more platforms, and having it on the Nintendo Switch eShop feels like such a nice milestone to reach. I'm also running a 40% launch discount right now!

Happy to respond to any questions, whether it's about Tales from The Dancing Moon, my other work, or anything else really!

EDIT: 17:45pm BST: I will be taking a short break for dinner, but I will stick around to answer any more questions that come in this evening!

EDIT: 11:59pm BST: Thanks all for the questions! It was my first time doing something like this and it was very fun! I'll wind down for the night as I look after my little one, but I will keep an eye out for any more questions that might trickle in. But if not, feel free to reach out on Social media as I'm always quite responsive!

Probably not a good decision since Minecraft still sells really well on Switch platforms though there does seem to be a lack of updates regarding Microsoft releases on Switch after Minecraft Dungeon2/Oblivion came out so who knows

Game Rec Games with easy language?

I'm learning Spanish as a BEGINNER beginner, so I thought I'd learn Spanish as I did with English, with videogames.

I booted up Stardew Valley and I wanted to cry. It's too high of a level for me right now, so my question is: does anyone know a game that has simpler language in it?
