Any cold plungers?
Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone in the area regularly does cold plunges or swims in the lake, especially as the temperatures start dropping. I'd love to find a few people to go with for safety and to enjoy it together! 😊

Community bulletin boards?
Working on promoting a local event (free and open to the public), focused on the intersection of creativity and aging, and I'm looking for community bulletin boards/businesses that allow posting of events.
Aside from libraries and municipal community centres, where else could we post event materials where the public might see them?

Prince of Wales High Tea
Hello!
I’m considering booking a high tea near Christmas for my aunt, my grandmother, and myself at the Prince of Wales in Niagara on the lake and I was wondering if anyone has experience doing this?
Are they really busy around Christmas time? What’s the process like of booking a reservation?

Moving to Fort Erie — how bad are ticks near trails and bushes?
We’re moving to Fort Erie and are currently looking to rent a house. We found one we really like, but the backyard backs directly onto a trail with quite a few bushes/brush along the property line.
We really like the view and the privacy, but our realtor mentioned that being right next to a trail and bushes could potentially mean more issues with ticks.
For anyone living in Fort Erie, especially if your backyard backs onto a trail, bushes, or wooded/green space, how much of a problem are ticks actually?
Do you regularly find ticks in your backyard, or is it more of an occasional issue? Is there anything you do to reduce the risk or keep them under control?
We really like the house, but if ticks are a major problem, we may have to reconsider.
Thanks!

Small, pretty fall wedding venues
Im exploring small wedding venues, if you call it that. Somewhere to have my wedding ceremony with maybe 50 people, have a lovely dinner, and a night to remember. Not looking for the big reception dance or drinking or anything.
Anyone done this ? Would love some ideas or photos.
Thanks 💕

Peace Bridge or Rainbow Bridge?
Hi all! I’m picking up my girlfriend who’s flying into Buffalo and crossing the border into Canada. We plan on spending the day at Niagara Falls as this is her first time in Canada.
As for options to getting her across the border, we’re still figuring that out. My passport still hasn’t arrived so I can’t pick her up from Buffalo. She plans on walking across the border. Her flight gets in at around 10:30am and the flix buses from BUF to rainbow bridge don’t appear to be running at that time. uber is always an option, but of course it tends to be expensive around airports.
Where I live it’s around a similar time for me to drive to Peace Bridge (easier to bus to) vs Rainbow Bridge (more convenient as we plan on visiting the falls). Would it be easier/cheaper to have her bus to Peace bridge, with me going to Fort Erie and then back to Niagara Falls (~1.5hr/100km round trip to my house and back), or do we just get the uber?
We are still exploring our options so any advice helps. Thank you!

Outdoor horse board
I've been out of the horse world for over a decade now but am possibly looking for outdoor board for a senior horse (26). Does anyone have any recommendations for outdoor board in the Niagara region and what price range I'm looking at for around here?

Hotel recommendations...
Me and the wife are looking to goto Niagara Falls at the end of the month. We had booked a jacuzzi room at The Oaks Hotel Overlooking the Falls over a month ago but after looking at recent reviews, we're leaning away from it. Now leaning towards Marriot Fallsview Hotel and Spa even though its expensive or Sheraton Fallsview... Any recommendations or thoughts are appreciated

The Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls is running a scam
BEWARE OF THIS SCAM "RESORT"!
I booked through a third-party website and was never informed of any additional “resort fee.” After charging my card for incidentals, the hotel withheld $30 as a separate hotel fee that was never disclosed to me at the time of booking.
When I called to ask where I had agreed to this charge, I was told that because I booked through a third party, the fee had supposedly been disclosed verbally at check-in, which it wasn't. A fee that is not properly disclosed upfront is illegal under Canada's consumer protection laws, including the Competition Act.
The business model seems straightforward: advertise a lower room rate to attract customers, spring an unexpected fee on them later, and hope they won't notice or won't bother disputing it after they've already paid for their stay. This is an unacceptable way to do business.
Even though Mastercard ultimately reversed the charge, that doesn't excuse these practices. Check your statements, question unexpected fees, and don't be afraid to dispute charges you never agreed to. I'll be reporting my experience to the Better Business Bureau and encourage other affected customers to speak up as well.
"Undisclosed resort fees are illegal in Canada because “drip pricing” — advertising a low price and adding mandatory fees later — is prohibited under the Competition Act, strengthened by Bill C‑59 (2024). Hotels may charge resort fees, but they must be clearly disclosed upfront in the first displayed price."
Edit: Just checked, they have a D- on the BBB website, go figure lol Edit 2: I had no idea the BBB was just a private company. I reported them to the Competition Bureau Canada. For everyone saying "this is normal", no, it's not

Niagara area: best cat towers We bought a cat tower for our furry family and these are soooo well built! Our Maine coin, Bob, takes a running leap and it barely budget. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a sturdy, well made cat tower. Very reasonably priced and real carpet/wood construction.
