this would be amazing in a really expensive cocktail bar but i feel like you'd need a plexi surround of the top and bottom to prevent people from wrecking it

if you watch godzilla in reverse, its about a giant lizard who rebuilds a city then moonwalks into the ocean

I feel like the first one is perfection. It truly feels like a pond crossing through soft water on any given day. Very serene.

u/queuedUp 16h ago
The ripples in the wood moving outward are so subtle and perfect

It’s gotta be amazing when you get a perfectly formed natural piece of raw material where the grain runs in such a way that an artist can immediately see the potential to reveal something unique and special within the wood or stone or whatever it is.

Artist's name is Scott Dow, has a lot of cool videos showing his process on his YT channel: https://www.youtube.com/@scottdowart
I helped build a restaurant in Cambridge, MA called Gato Exotico and the owner purchased 3 of these tables if anyone's in that area and wants to see them in person!

I really dig it, the only thing I'm scared of could be the price; how much for one?
edit: is about 12k from my research, I still dig it but can't buy it.

2 seinfeld references in a row?!
Thats gold Jerry, but it's the wood that makes it good. That takes levels.

Fr. How would you even use these? Especially that last one. Unusable table. Just an art piece.

Most of these look like the size of a console table that would be against a wall like one you would put your wallet and keys on when you enter a house

I need a sub full of art that looks like completely solid objects have fluidity/translerency, like a thin cloth draped over a face or water like this

Skeleton on the horse was rad. I can see a Grateful Dead person needing this in their life.

I can’t help thinking this would look so beautiful with a little Unicorn Spit.

Why did they focus so much on the last one?? That was probably the least impressive (not to say it was not impressive).
There should have been way more time spent on the second one and you only got to see the bottom as they moved on to the next

Hello. Yes, I would like one almost unusable table please. I'd like to have no room to place things, and I'd like fragile bits sticking out so my children can break them off when they're rowdy. $5000?! What a steal!

Beautiful but I'd never want one. I want my tables to function as tables.

Looks cool how the artist also follows the natural wood grain in some places, helps add to the depth of the carving.

Who are the customers for things like this? I mean, they're usually so expensive you have to be a billionaire to afford it, but billionaires don't buy cool things like this. I've sometimes checked out what stuff like this costs, because I want it, but it's often like €200k or something like that.
Idk what level of wealth you are at where you have this kind of money, but still have enough of your soul left that you don't just waste the money on the most sterile nightmare interior for your house.

u/VonSkullenheim 14h ago
Feel like this is a bad taste great execution thing. Like it's incredible, but it's a bad table now.

Beautiful pieces if I had that I would immediately trip and stab myself in the eye with a tentacle

u/Murky_Management_578 14h ago
For a table like this, I wouldn't shoot someone over not using a coaster.

A D&D table with a Kraken in the middle coming up out of the wood like this would be absolutely insane.

u/NormieSpecialist 14h ago
Okay I fucking died at the Kraken and Noah’s Ark. I ned to see a story adaptation of that now.

So what part of this is made from carving into the table top and what part is like carved then stuck onto the table top? Like I can tell its a mix but cant tell where the line is. Epically with the first one.

Those epoxy tables were such a fad and a joke.

I went to college with this artist, he could draw, sculpt, design, paint, throw pots, and executed every artistic discipline with mastery, without ego, and as I remember all of our interactions, he was a good man and mentor.

It would be badass if the first table had a button you could press to make the alligators jaw open. Would be so funny to show someone the table, have them go to touch it, and then press the button.

u/InsufficientCase 9h ago
God... This is why I hate going to art exhibition. So compelled to touch and explore every single nook and cranny. They'll blacklist me in no time.
