Which version of NWN2 for online play?

I assumed that the new enhanced edition for Steam would be the smoother experience, but the reviews don't really fill me with confidence. Should my friend and I go with the GoG version instead?

If you're planning on checking out the online persistent world servers, you may want to avoid EE for a while.

I would go with the enhanced version. It might use either the Aspyr servers or the integrated steam network. Either is fine for modern systems. The GOG version might use the old IP/TCP connection which might not be secure if you have to message your friend the IP address to the host. In the end its up to you as to how to establish a mutiplayer room.

Me and several friends just bought NWN2 enhanced edition as well during the recent autumn sales.. so I would like to know as well if got any issue.

For now.. our test run.. seem alright at the opening town.. for now thou.. so might not be a good benchmark for your question haha.

I beat the Steam Enhanced Edition with my wife in coop for the full game, it worked great and easy to use!

NWN2EE works with some NWN2OG servers. Some haks can crash NWN2EE, mainly animation related. Some scripts and GUI enhancements such as PC tools, are being fixed by modders.

Just use the "goat" client, which fixes essentially every issue in EE

Also, servers running EE should be happening soon, as the nwnx4 plugin for EE will hopefully be ready soon (its being tested)
