OP is in the Navy Do chiefs get chewed out by a more senior chief? (Senior or master chief)Seems like the chiefs mess are always buddys with each other. In the Marines a E9, or E8 has no problem putting a E7 in his place.

I am prior Marine, then join Navy reserves and after a few years went active duty onto a ship.sea duty now. Marine E7 tend to be more careful how they speak to a first Sgt or Sgt Major. But seems like a Chief can just casually crack jokes with the CMC. You would never see a E7 not part of Bn headquarters staff (like company GySgt)do that with the battalion Sgt Maj.

OP is in the Air Force Sister service NCO looking for guidance for pregnant sailor

I'm a SSgt in a joint service location newly in charge of a few sailors and one of them is pregnant. Shes up for 24hr duty soon but I doubt she'll be able to stand it. While I look for a replacement I'm hoping to find some guidance on whether or not she's even allowed to stand that duty in the first place but having trouble navigating y'all's regulation any tips?

My only resource is a PO1 who's saying she had to stand duty until 28 weeks pregnant but isn't providing me with the reg on duty limitations/pregnancy

Discussion 4th year enlisted 3rd class with option to CA2P…Advice?

Hey yall!

Just seeing where everyone’s head is at because I’m trying to get multiple opinions

Today I was offered 30k (taxed) to extend for 2 years (plus 1 year to choose orders) with my current command

I’ve talked to other 2nd classes who took on a similar type of deal and they seem to overwhelmingly agree that I should take the money.

Right now I’ve been looking at a job with a specific contracting company directly associated with my division on board. Same work, just civilian lifestyle. They’ve already shown interest in me coming over, and I think I’d fit well there. Already looking into building a résumé to send them as well.

The numbers for the navy DO look better, but I also just don’t really like being in. I’m good at my job, and have beautiful evals (not on that paper-sailor shit either) but I do feel burnt out and tired of seeing shitters finish contracts having been paid the same as me the whole time. I overall hate the way advancement works in the navy now for specific rates, and feel like it promotes participation more than just being good at your job.

Ofc my first classes and divo are pushing hard for me to stay, but I’m aware that there’s 0 risk and more reward in it for them, so ofc they’d think that

Any advice helps, even the few of you who are gonna say some mean-ass shit 😂 tough love never hurt no one

HELP REQUESTED Navy ITs who got out after one enlistment vs. stayed in — I could use some career advice.

Hey everyone, I’m an IT2 in the Navy and I’m coming up on my last year of my contract, I’m trying to figure out whether I should separate after my first enlistment or stay in for shore duty, and I’d really appreciate advice from people who’ve actually been in this position, especially other ITs.

I’m trying to make the smartest long-term decision for my career and financial future, and I’m not interested in staying in just because it’s the safer or more familiar option.

For some background, I have my CCNA, I do not have my SYSAD C school, as a civilian I would like to ideally move into networking, systems engineering, or cybersecurity.

Right now, I’m weighing two options:

Option 1: Get out after my first four years.
I’d start applying for civilian IT jobs before separating and try to secure a solid offer before I leave. Ideally, I’d land something that lets me build on my Navy experience and eventually move into higher-level networking or cybersecurity roles. I’d also consider going to college while working.
My main concern is whether I’d be putting myself in a good position to succeed or leaving too early before I’ve gotten everything I can out of the Navy.

Option 2: Stay in for shore duty.
I’ve considered reenlisting for shore duty, potentially receiving a reenlistment bonus of around $60,000 before taxes. I’d also have the opportunity to pursue additional technical training, potentially ADNS school, use tuition assistance, earn more certifications, and work toward a degree while having a more consistent schedule.

The downside is committing several more years to the Navy when I could already be building my civilian career.

What I’m trying to figure out:

● For Navy ITs who separated after their first enlistment, how difficult was it to land a good civilian IT job? What were your qualifications, and what kind of salary did you start at?

● For those who stayed in for shore duty, did the additional experience, training, and benefits actually make a meaningful difference when you eventually transitioned out?

● How valuable is Navy IT experience and a security clearance to civilian employers, especially defense contractors?

● If you already had your CCNA and could potentially secure a decent civilian IT position, would you still recommend staying in for shore duty?

● Would you prioritize getting civilian experience sooner, or would you take the bonus and use another tour to build your résumé and education?

● If you could go back and make the decision again, what would you do differently?

I’m not necessarily looking for someone to tell me to get out or stay in. I want to hear from people who have actually experienced either path, including what went well, what went wrong, and what you wish you’d known beforehand.

Appreciate any advice. I’m trying to make an informed decision instead of looking back a few years from now and wondering if I chose the wrong path.

HELP REQUESTED Question about ribbons

Fairly new to the navy & have a question about ribbons, specifically for shooting. I’m pretty sure I shot well enough using the pistol & rifle at the last gun shoot my command had but I’m not sure what my scores were or if they were good enough to wear any of the shooting ribbons… is there a way to check that?

HELP REQUESTED Orders Advice (Bremerton, Fort Belvoir, Lemoore)

Hi! I have a few questions about my upcoming orders!
These are the locations I'm considering:
NMRTC Bremerton, WA

NMRTC Fort Belvoir, VA

NMRTC Lemoore, CA

My biggest question is about housing. Can single E-4s with over 4 years of service receive BAH and live off base at these locations? I'm currently receiving BAH at my training command, if not how is the barracks?
How are the commands and surrounding areas? What's the work environment like, especially for BMETs?
Bremerton is my first choice for now, but I'm open to the other two depending on housing policies and quality of life.
I'd really appreciate any firsthand experiences or advice. TIA!

HELP REQUESTED Lease ending in two weeks, still don’t have separation orders

Posting on behalf of my husband:

Still awaiting separation orders out of TSC Norfolk. Lease ends on October 31st. Not even sure what to do. Planned to move my family back to my home of record 1400 miles away but we can’t do that out of our own pocket. I don’t even know if we have enough time left for and HHG move even if I were to get my orders by tomorrow. My only hope is doing a PPM I guess but we’ve never done one before. But if I don’t get orders before October ends, we still have to be out of this house. At a loss of what to do. I am constantly bugging admin, calling TSC, calling MNCC, spoke to my chief but am told “it’s being worked on”. I know I’m just a number in a system but I’m supposed to be starting Skillbridge on the 21st of this month and I won’t even be in the correct state to do so. My command hasn’t made this an easy process as they haven’t experienced anyone requesting Skillbridge in a long time. I’m just hoping someone has any guidance.

HELP REQUESTED HM PQS test preparation to all the corpsman

I have my HM PQS test next month and wanted to ask those who have taken it what the test was like. I’ve been studying with Quizlet and Kahoot and feel comfortable with hospital and greenside medicine. How much emphasis does the test place on administrative paperwork and documentation versus medical knowledge?
Any study tips or advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

HELP REQUESTED What is the path to CA2P?

What is the path to getting advanced at your command?

I recently checked onboard, and upon meeting with my COC (with exception of the CO), I informed them of my valid DMEI score, and that I had seen and previously applied to a specific E6 billet that appears to be available.

Obviously I wasn’t selected to that billet, but let them know that I intend to continue applying for an E6 billet when the window re opens at the end of the month and that since there is no time-on-station-requirement, I’d like to get the ball rolling on a CA2P if the position is still available.

COC looked at me stupid, gave almost no response to what I said, and said they would write my name down. This does not seem like the way forward.. is there any paperwork or request that I can start myself?

TL;DR. How do I formally request to be CA2P’d ? Is there some kind of board that I need to compete in? 1306, or what?
