Why didn’t Natsuki get a job?

I obviously mean taking the story at face value as if they all had free will. Apparently she is 18, she doesn’t like to be home, her father didn’t seem to really care if she was around, and obviously she struggled to feed herself and her father wasn’t providing enough. I’m not trying to victim blame or anything, it just seems like the logical thing to do. Where I’m from, most high schoolers get jobs at like 16, sometimes even younger. Is that not the same in Japan because they focus more on school or was it just Salvato’s writing? Makes me think she really was meant originally to be younger and they just didn’t want the issues that could come with that for a suggestive and messed up dating sim parody. Idk, just been thinking about this.

Are her finantial stuggles canon? I could swear it was a blue skies adition. Its been AGES since I last played vanilla DDLC

I mean she passes out from starvation in the original and Monika gives her a protein bar or something. I don’t know if that’s because her dad starves her just to be cruel or if they don’t have a lot of money and he doesn’t view having enough food in the house as a priority.

I'm pretty sure thats just because Monika cranked her dad's abusiveness up to 11, I don't think there's any implication of poverty in the base game. and in blue skies where there is, they actually aged her down from 18, so there ya go

Fair enough my main point still stands though

Thank you for the kindness. I’m around her age ish and I’ve done a few odd jobs here and there, a lot of people in any school got full on part time jobs at 15 or 16. So, I’m just going based on my experience. Maybe that’s an American thing though. I dunno. Also, I wasn’t saying she’d be able to move away, just that she would be home less and judging by how she talked about the literature club she seemed to like that. I understand I’m being a bit weird by looking at it as if it were real, it’s just fun for me lol.

Yeah, like I said where I’m from most people get part time jobs at 16.

That's almost entirely exclusive to America, most people in other continents don't work till 18, in some countries it's even illegal to put people to work at such ages.

Interesting… Well us ‘Mericans are either gonna be built different or just really traumatized lol

I've heard it's really rough there, some of my friends live there and the situation to me just seems absurd.

I mean this not to brag, but I havent paid a dime of my own nor my mom's in the 3 years I've already been at college. It's not even a public college, so just the idea of having to pay crazy amounts of money that you NEED to work to support such studies is really disheartening for y'all there

That doesn't mean college here is any easier of course, given how we don't have the time constraints of a job we are demanded to be more scrupulous with our studies. On really bad times I've gotta study 4-6 hours daily to be able to head towards my exams with confidence

My friend and I have had looks at eachothers exams out of curiosity for the differences and we agreed on mines being a far superior difficulty (both of our colleges have to do with math/science so we share some subjects such as chem)

So yeah, all of my life and shit aside. Working at 16 is mostly an American thing, most people where I live (Spain) don't work until they're done with their studies, that unless they wanna make some money for something else (like paying bills, a car, etc)
