Rookie electric supply switcher

I switched my supplier for the first time from Eversource 2 ENH Power. my three month term started on August 18 at .1089 and took about 10 days from sign up to get confirmation/all set email. when is the best time to start looking for another supplier rate and will it take about the same time to switch or can you just give them the end date of your current term? TIA from Hudson

Pickup soccer in the area?

Hello! Anyone know any good ways to find pickup soccer in the area? I tried that app GoodRec and both the games I signed up for got canceled. I’m not the best at soccer but looking to play some games to get better.

Thank you!

Was going through my photos after getting back home and thought this one got messed up somehow for a second. Quickly realized it’s just the distribution center lol
As much as I hate that building I think it made for a somewhat interesting pic!

Liberty Gas Supply Price Lock

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello, I recently moved to Nashua, purchasing my first home. I received this mail from Liberty offering to lock in a rate for gas supply charge.

I am trying to figure out if I should do it. I do think it’s a little strange they note the rate outlined is just the requested rate but they won’t confirm that until after this application is due.

Does anyone do this? Or has done it in the past? Any info on how much these rates change over the course of a winter? Thank you!

On Tuesday, October 6th, the NPLE Union, AFT local 4831, will be holding a rally at Library Hill from 5-6 PM. Afterward, we encourage our community members to join us at the library Board of Trustees meeting, at 7 PM at the library. We are still in a very contentious fight for a fair contract -- we've had two sessions with a federal mediator this month, and the city/management side is still:

  • Refusing to give us a wage increase that will allow us to keep up with rising inflation and take care of our families
  • Insisting that any pay increase would NOT include retroactive pay to the date our new contract should have started, which is standard
  • Refusing to provide any assurances of job and pay security during the upcoming $45 million-dollar library renovation

The union has approached mediation armed with facts, research, and prepared to compromise. We have been met with anger and stonewalling. We're still fighting, but we really need your help! If you value the library, and the service its staff provide, please stand with us! We can't do this without you!

Looking for Affordable Heating Oil Company & Price-Lock Recommendations in the Area

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable and affordable local heating oil company.
I’m currently seeing prices around $5.699/gallon and would love to find a company offering a better price for home heating oil delivery in the area.
If you have a company you regularly use and are happy with, could you please share their name and, if possible, their current price per gallon?
I’m also interested in a company that offers a price-lock/fixed-price program. If you’ve had a good experience locking in your heating oil price for the season, I’d really appreciate any recommendations or information about how their program works.
Thank you so much!

Clocktower Place

How have people’s experiences with Clocktower Place apartments been? My wife and I are about to move to Nashua and sign a lease there. The unit seems a little outdated but pretty cool. Is there anything I should know about before making it official?

Also, how is it living in downtown? We’re coming from the seacoast/exeter area, which is a much different vibe.

New to Nashua

Hello! I recently moved to Nashua from Utah (no I'm not mormon lol). I have been trying to get more involved in the community to meet more people. I have been applying to volunteer at local shelters, and have been starting up old hobbies of mine like reading and painting again. I was wondering if anyone knows of great places to volunteer? I love working with animals, and I'd even love to volunteer at a locally owned pet store if they are around. Anything really to get me out!

Speculative Fiction (sci-fi/dystopian/fantasy) Book Club - October

For October, we are reading When the Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi. We meet at the Dracut Library (28 Arlington St, Dracut MA) on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30-7:30pm. This month, that would be Wednesday, October 21st. Here is a link to the library's website advertising the event.

All are welcome to attend. You don't need to be a Dracut resident or a library card holder. Just show up and discuss the book, whether you finished it or not. If you want to be put on our email list, just send me a DM and I'll add you to the list.

When the Moon Hits Your Eye, about 300 pages or audiobook about 10 hours.

"One day soon, suddenly and without explanation, the moon as we know it is replaced with an orb of cheese with the exact same mass. Through the length of an entire lunar cycle, from new moon to a spectacular and possibly final solar eclipse, we follow multiple characters -- schoolkids and scientists, billionaires and workers, preachers and politicians -- as they confront the strange new world they live in, and the absurd, impossible moon that now hangs above all their lives."

If you cannot come to October's meeting, but would like to prepare for November's meeting, that book will be Martha Wells' All Systems Red. It is about 150 pages long, or about 3 hours long. The meeting will be on Wednesday, November 18th.

UPDATE: The Nashua Public Library staff needs your help!

Post image
50 Upvotes

The Nashua Public Library Employee Union, AFT-NH local 4831 is still at an impasse in our contract negotiation with the city and library administration. At issue are two things: a modest pay increase to keep our staff in line with what other comparable libraries, and management's refusal to pay us our retroactive pay from the date that our new contract should have started. That retroactive pay is standard for union contracts, and shouldn't be an issue at all, but management is refusing is as a cudgel to force us to agree to an unfair contract. How can you help? The BEST way is to come to the monthly Trustees' meetings and speak up during the Public Comment portion! You can also contact the library director, the mayor, and the Board of Alderman to voice your support for us. We can't win this fight without the support of our community! We love being your library!

farmers markets and farm stands

I know about the weekend farmers market in Nashua, but what about other places in the area to go and spend cash on fresh produce? Throughout the week, etc.
