Should we make a rule against hawking ai slop projects on this sub? If so, what should we do about them? Ban users?
If you don't like vibecode, you're free to express your displeasure.
Similarly, ai genned comments and ai-generated users are bad and we should ban them from our community, lest they drown us humans out.
Let's hear your opinions, for and against vibecoded projects. If your post or comment on this thread is ai generated and we detect it, it will be insta permaban, no appeals. I will not respond to your messages.

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on Death Panzer 64, a new N64 homebrew game inspired by the Sega Saturn’s Death Tank games, and I’m looking for a few people to help test it.
I always loved Death Tank Zwei and played it probably as much as Duke Nukem 3D (which Death Tank Zwei was hidden inside of). As much as I, my friends and siblings loved playing it, it always irked me that it felt limited. So I wanted to update it for today adding in some features, improvements and new weapons. Naturally with the N64 having four controller ports this felt like a good starting point before I bring it to GameCube and Dreamcast as well as the original Xbox and implement online play.
It now has real-time multiplayer for 2–4 players, turn-based battles against bots, and a 2v2 Alliance mode with shared team supplies.
I have been putting it through its paces over the last month developing it but am now ready for more people to play it on different setups. I have been playing it on my modified N64, Analogue 3D and tried my Polymega, but would like someone with a ‘stock’ N64 with and without the expansion pak, a ModRetro M64, as well as different emulation setups. I have had luck with Gopher64, no luck on Mupen yet but I am starting to debug that tonight along with Polymega.
I have a short, one-page checklist, but you don’t need to be a technical tester. Even 20–30 minutes and a few honest notes would help. Couch multiplayer feedback would be especially useful! If you enjoyed it let me know! If it sucked let me know. This is still very much in development so if there is a feature you think would be cool, some new kind of weapon or something you think needs to be tweaked, I’d love to hear the feedback. So far playing it on the weekend with friends has been a blast. But it’s hard for me as the person making it, to see flaws in it.
Interested? Comment with your setup or send me a message, and I’ll get you the beta ROM and checklist.

Hey guys, quick question regarding repro cartridges.
If I buy one of those cheap repro cartridges from AliExpress with a copy of Ocarina of Time, or an OoT related rom hack, can I just reflash it with my own OoT rom hack? I'm looking for a cheap way to make my own custom cart, and the only thing I can find is the RetroStage N64 Blaster (25USD), which requires the 65USD RetroBlaster.... plus the shell.
Can't I just repurpose the AliExpress one with the Joey64, which I already own?
And before you recommend me getting a flashcart, I already have one. I just want to own a repro cart of my own ROM hack with my own custom label that directly boots into the game when starting the console. It's not for resale, only for personal use.

It has an English translation for GC and it’s been decompiled. It runs on the same engine as Zelda OOT. Any news on this project? It’s been 10 years since the last update. I’ve been checking in for about 6 years now.
P.s the current translation crashes and corrupts the data after the first week of gameplay. If I remember correctly it corrupts after you send a letter.

Latest tool rom where you can use a TPak with a Game Boy MBC7 cartridge to add motion controls to the N64 controller. These carts have built-in accelerometers that can be read through specific registers.

Does anyone know why the libdragon repository was archived on GitHub? I noticed it was archived on October 2nd.

Hello!
I'm Dan with DSM Arcade. We make arcade games. We have a side project we are pursuing and want to discuss it with experienced N64 developers. If you are that person, or can point us in the right direction, please DM us or comment below. Include examples of your work and availability, thanks!

I’ve been working lately on building a prototype of the unreleased « 64GB cable » that was meant to connect a Gameboy to the N64 through the controller ports. My first attempt worked great to use the GB printer with Mario Artist Paint Studio (https://youtu.be/g_7ZVdvsQ40) so I’ve decided to go a bit further by trying to connect the Gameboy sewing machines.

my second game on my n64 engine is taking shape
tiny nightmare 64 is a choice based horror game in third person. your choices happen in real time, while you play, and the story follows whatever you decide. between them, action puzzle sequences that keep you on edge
this is the very first prototype, pipo taking his first steps. more soon

Hey guys. Does anyone know what’s the best way to have a modern experience with original hardware? I’m talking about things like being able to use it on a modern HDMI screen, connecting newer/wireless controllers to it, adding your own roms with a good flashcart, etc. Which accessories/mods would you recommend to have a convenient experience with this console? What do you guys personally use?

I created a port of the original 1993 Doom for the Nintendo 64. This port is based on the 64Doom project, with several improvements:
The port also supports several different versions of Doom:
The port supports other mods as well, but I haven't tested all of the existing ones yet.
Note: The game requires the Expansion Pak and Controller Pak to save.

PAK-MEN is two things working together:
A menu — the on-console experience that boots when you turn on your N64 with a flash cart (SC64 / ED64 / 64drive). It shows your games as cover art, remembers favourites and recently-played, and replaces the usual bare file list with something that feels like a real console UI.
A Menu Builder — this app. A desktop tool where you design that menu visually: drag elements onto a 640×480 canvas, pick from ready-made templates or build your own layout from scratch, preview it in a bundled emulator, and export it straight to your SD card.
You don't write any code and you don't need to touch a text editor. Every screen your console shows — the home screen, your games grid, the settings page, everything — is just a menu.json file this app writes for you, one click at a time.
*AI did help me code this, and is also untested outside the summer cart. I'm not responsible for what you mod, but am willing to work with you to troubleshoot and helped develop it better.
