Help! hundreds of Models
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi! I have hundreds of models that were never made and hundreds that were. I’m having a Tag sale this weekend and I don’t have a clue on how to price them or if I should be looking out for anything in particular. I have taken some videos and can take pictures in a bit but I was wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head whether or not any particular brands or types are worth more than others?

Where do you guys usually buy your model planes?
Hey everyone! I'm completely new to Reddit so still figuring out how everything works here haha
I've been collecting model planes (1:200 and 1:72 mostly) for quite a while now though. So far I've mostly bought my models in person so I can check their condition, either from model shops or at flea markets and aviation fairs like the AACF in Amsterdam.
I was wondering how you guys usually find models you're looking for? Do you mostly buy them online or prefer going to physical stores and fairs too?
Would love to hear how everyone else goes about collecting and finding new models!

Hawaii mars 1:69
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Spread over the course of a month, 212 hours were spent in creating this beautiful aircraft. The Hawaii (II As the first was destroyed) Mars was and still is the most awe worthy piece of engineering. I wanted to convey this in my own ways as well as giving my original Martin mars being the Philippine Mars a sister.
The Martin JRM Mars was a massive, four-engined cargo transport and firefighting flying boat built by the Glenn L. Martin Company during World War II. Only seven units were ever completed, making it one of the largest and rarest Allied flying boats ever operated.
In 1959, the surviving aircraft were slated for demolition, but a consortium of British Columbia timber companies called Forest Industries Flying Tankers (FIFT) bought them.
Forest industries was later bought by Coulson aviation and the Hawaii was refitted with cutting edge avionics flying until 2016 and once more in 2024.
This plane is personally my greatest ever creation and hits home as well having seen it once in action on the field.
So enough of that here’s some stats if anyone is crazy enough to make a 3.5 foot wide plane.
Wood used for the main aircraft: pine so shaping would be easy.
Wing: oak
Tail was cedar and MDF
Floats are oak
Stand is black walnut.
The cost was about 250$ total (not bad!)
And the time spent was summed up by around 100 hours of shaping and sanding and 60 putting it together. The rest was on finishing which took several all nighters.
I hope looking at her brings the same weird feeling of looking at a hunk of wood in the shape of one of the most gorgeous flying boats ever built.
Cheers guys.
It’s time to wrap up before my retirement from making planes.
Your flying boat maker

The Fleet
galleryDidn’t build these of course, but thought I’d share. 1:48 die-cast Franklin Mint Armour Collection. Started this collection with the Memphis Belle, found her in an antique store in Bedford, VA and the rest was history.

Final day of work on the 1:63 Hawaii mars model
galleryAfter damn near 200 working hours on the plane we’ve come to the final stage of finishing touches, markings and clear coats. Tomorrow you’ll finally see her in all the glory she deserves
I have a final number for everyone in terms of cost, total I’ve spent about 245$ (CAD) ok this from start to finish.
BY THE WAY: If enough people want to make an absurdly large yet good looking wooden plane I’ll make a full start to finish plan on everything from how to scale ecta
Cheers. Tonight we finish.

I need help with painting my Revell Rafale C 1/48
galleryI finished my jet model like 3 weeks ago but still haven’t started painting nor ordered it, I only did the sanding yet which its perfect but I am waiting for other sanding papers to arrive. I first wanna start with asking for advice about spray primer, I asked chat gpt and checked on internet, people really recommend Tamiya primers no matter the model brand. I tried to find one but I couldn’t, and the ones that I did are like 20-25 dollars in my country. I asked chat GPT an it said I also can use revell primer if I can’t find Amy Tamiya but I want to ask abt it and if its worth. And for the paint, I also need spray paint because I don’t have an airbrush and I don’t want to use a normal brush because it leaves marks and I accidentally use too much paint. I want to make the default French Air Force grey design which has 2 different tones of grey, light gray for the body and a bit darker one for the nose part. I checked if there is a one to one or a similar color to the grey at Tamiya but after long research all the grey colors are pretty off from the real thing. I asked chat gpt one again, but this time for the revell spray paint versions, it suggested me 34374 Grau spray paint for the body which seems too bluish for the rafale color, and 34371 Light Grey spray paint for the nose which is lighter than the body even though I mentioned it that I want to have the nose a bit darker like the real thing. And for Tamiya it suggested me TS-48 Gunship gray but it said that it might be too dark for the rafale, and TS-79 Semi Gloss Clear as a top layer after the gunship gray. All of the info chat gpt gave me about colors is from deep research and agent mode about what paint did people online used for their rafale c model. Please help me out🙏🏻

First model, could use some help deciphering these instructions
galleryHi folks! I'm trying to figure out how to read these instructions. The parts labeled J2 or G6, etc, make sense. But I have no idea what the numbers in the black squares mean.
I found the parts they're identifying, but they have completely different numbers in the parts board. And why are multiple parts labeled with the same number?
Is anyone familiar with this brand and can advise?
EDIT: Paint codes :)

How do I glue these parts on well?
Supposed to go in the little holes but it just slides right off, and it took me forever to get it on the other wing, so I know there has to be a more effective way to do it
