I like how there’s always at least one guy in the comments rushing to white knight billionaires. They won’t see this, bro.

Only if the murder would be a solution to an economic problem…

If we got them all it might

Its like doing a liposuction with a goal of weight loss, but continuing to eat 25k calories a day. It ain’t going to solve shit.

It’s also a murder. If you think it’s moral to kill someone because they have billions, nothing will stop you killing more wealthy people once you run out of billionaires.

I think if every billionaire got killed the economy would stop being geared towards making billionaires

Well, you’re wrong. Billionaires on their own have no legal authority. Favorable economic regulations, fiscal stimulus that goes to their businesses, wars for resources, taxation apparatus that’s repressive towards the middle class - all done by the government.

And there’s no shortage of examples around the world in the last 150 or so years of the wealthy being killed and forced into exile, yet here we are, they are still running the show behind the scenes, because people think democracy works.

Not saying it’s the best approach, but maybe instituting a death penalty for serious corruption charges is the way to go.

Look at Singapore, I believe they still have a death penalty for government corruption, and it’s been one of the least corrupt places on the world for quite some time. Despite having almost zero natural resources, being a small city state it is, Singapore is extremely economically successful.

Switzerland has extremely decentralized political system, which by design limits the scale of corruption, and it’s also one of the best places in the world. Or Monaco and Lichtenstein, monarchies where the monarchs have immense power, unlike in UK or Belgium, are the most economically successful places with the lowest rates of corruption.

They can't be still running the show if they are all gone

You don’t get it. There’s just going to be someone new.

If you kill every violent criminal that’s out there today you’re not going to have a crime free society forever. Only until someone else becomes a violent criminal. Same here.

I think it would be different because then the model would change

Well, reaching a state of anarchy, especially on a global level, would be sweet. I hope I get to live to that point. But until that happens, the history is going to control repeat itself.

Any model that assumes rulers will get corrupt and will produce leeches like Peter Theil, Musk, and others that built their wealth through cozy relationships with our “leaders”.

I don't think we need anarchy to get rid of the leeches
