Aurora version
Recently there’s a lot of aurora version came out. For me its a ‘scam’. Kinda like enomoto. Not that its scam scam, but its not official tamiya if you know what i mean.
The reason there’s a lot of demand is because how pretty the cowl can be with this aurora effect.
I collected few version myself. But as soon as i see the Proto Emperor version, man. I know i have to get it. Aurora on a purple cowl? That's the aurora effect on steroids.
Whats your thoughts on the aurora release in general?

Respectfully, not sure why you consider it a scam - people like to collect things and people like less common/rare things.. just the way the market is, it's not like you 'neee' this version. :)

Yeah i mean its a ‘scam’. Not a scam scam 😂. There’s a demand for this. After all its very nice looking. I mean for collection purposes and self satisfaction, of course its nice to have. I bought few myself 😉

It's a genuine Tamiya kit? Isn't a scam then. You don't even imagine what people did back in the day for a Poseidon X Black Special model or for chrome bodies not sell out of Japan.

Not sure how is it a Scam exactly when it's still a genuine Tamiya Kit?
I mean there's always gunna be "collectibility" when it comes to hobbies like this. No different than Beyblade or even TCG Cards like Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh etc.

Totally agree. I guess my wording is wrong there, as i said its not exactly a scam.
Of course its a tamiya genuine kit. But if u ever bought one, they have taken out the cowl from the packaging to apply this aurora effect.
Its not exactly similar those clear or metallic version which is totally come from Tamiya itself. Hence im comparing it to enomoto because this is what happen here.
Since there’s demand, there’s a market.
In fact in general rule thumb of collecting it depends on how u wanna collect and value them. Some people dont even want to collect those ‘special version’ etc.

These kind of ‘gimmick’ wouldn’t really work with Bandai - Gunpla. Haha. The modellers usually would be able to replicate the colour schemes easily. Hence why Premium Bandai and/or EXPO limited kit rarely go up in value

I think thats the better wording. ‘Gimmick’. But no right or wrong in this kind of thing honestly. As long as we are happy. Whats not okay is the premium price tag out of nowwhere which is the part im referring to the ‘scam’ 😂.

well, yeah - i'd be happy if i could get my hands on rare/limited release kits in my part of the world without having to pay a small fortune. to be fair, i don't mind the price of the kits, its the shipping that is painful..

I can understand that. When i was back in the States i wont bother getting all this because the shipping really aint worth it. But then this is normal in everything. There are some stuffs i would love to get from other part of the world but not accessible here 🙃

ive seen and own some of the aurora versions as well with the poly tshot and machframe fkv2 being my favorites. fan of the dash series so might need to get one of this too. is the proto emperor easy to cut for fma or sfm?
