Theory, op could have broke a chunk out of a Funyun, looped other Funyuns onto it, reassembled the broken Funyun by gluing one side of the chunk back on, then angled the pic in a way where we can only see the unglued crack.

I think op is telling the truth and their theory on how it happened is solid tho

My theory: he wet a section of the ring to make it soft, cut it, bent that section just enough to get the other two on it, set it back in place and dried it or even used an air fryer to stiffen it

Totally real, just happened 20 mins ago. I gave it to my wife for dinner with our BLTs!

You can see the flaw/break in the middle ring. The other two rings were intact completely. I'm guessing they all fell into the oil vat together, then the crack sorta re-fused, chaining them together.

Having worked in factory that made these, it's possible, if somebody at the factory did it intentionally.

It looks like the middle ring has break. They start off as hard, plastic-feeling, rings. You could cut a little bit out of a ring, then put two more onto the broken one. When they go into the oil & expand, the break fills in. Also, means that someone has had their probably dirty hands all over your food.
