I think everyone with migraines would love one of these, I'd put my triptans in there

601

u/FineMind755 7h ago

I feel like I would just accidentally get them wet.

u/OuisghianZodahs42 7h ago

Depends on how tight the seal is on the ring.

269

u/FineMind755 7h ago

Looking at it definitely not tight at all.

263

u/CankerLord 7h ago

Metal on metal with a hinge that says "I'll stay closed but only 'closed' in the sense that I'm not wide open".

48

u/PlasticTower1 6h ago

“Imagine if your ex-wife were a robot”

8

u/anon_simmer 6h ago

They're never tight. Always loose clasped at best.

5

u/anonymarty 4h ago

Whoopsie, poisoned myself... and now i die.

5

u/poopnose85 6h ago

*A seal shows up wearing a tracksuit* "Damn that seal is tight!"

3

u/CaptaiNose 5h ago

Look at it. There is no seal

0

u/GizmoGauge42 7h ago

Looks easy enough to install an o-ring gasket.

2

u/CaptaiNose 5h ago

There's literally nowhere to put an o-ring

1

u/SilenceOfTheSalmon 2h ago

Grind a fine U-shape into the lid base and find a thin enough oring that fits the groove with a lower hardness rating, lil dab of bonding on the very bottom of the U in a few spots, and that's about it. Won't hold any pressure but at least won't leak while washing your hands. You might have until you open and close it a couple hundred times before needing to rebond or replace the oring.

Also make sure whatever metal the ring is made of isn't toxic to leech into any meds stored. Takes the name poison ring to even further

-9

u/Keyboard_Cat_ 7h ago

That's what he said.

14

u/Migraine_Megan 7h ago

And then they would dry out and you'd just have a white powder in there lol

21

u/FineMind755 7h ago

Sigh, but snorting my drugs always makes my nose tingle.

1

u/Jack_Mackerel 4h ago

I mean, they do make nasal triptans but...

2

u/corisilvermoon 1h ago

Yeah I washed my hands and ruined my holdout ibuprofen.

2

u/joesii 7h ago

Could first wrap them in plastic wrap.

edit: better yet just melt some wax over them.

2

u/big_duo3674 6h ago

That's why you always take jewelry off before going to town. Plus, you could end up losing it somewhere inconvenient

1

u/Kardif 4h ago

Keychain pill bottle. Way better

35

u/Kiwi1234567 7h ago

Username checks out.

Im also thinking maybe it would be harder for me to forget to take my Ritalin if its attached to my body.

7

u/DianeJudith 6h ago

I think it would be easier to forget it. You'll get used to the ring and stop noticing it after a while.

9

u/Migraine_Megan 7h ago

I have 3 reminders set each day to tell me to take meds, it's the only way I can keep up with it all

1

u/lookingUp2TheSkye 6h ago

I would still somehow forget to take my Vyvanse. It could be taped to my forehead and I'd still forget.

1

u/_Luke_the_Lucky_ 6h ago

Thankfully it's only once a day though. I have it next to my pillow on my bed so it's literally there when I wake up with my water bottle

1

u/Voidstarblade 6h ago

do a pill bottle keychain, and attach it to your keys/wallet/ whatever you dont leave the house without. i had a necklace, and i forgot the necklace regularly. haven't forgot my wallet in years!

1

u/Allegorist 2h ago

Also easier to forget if you took it

1

u/KiyanStrider 43m ago

Jokes on you I had my Vyvanse in a bottle in front of my face, thought, "oh I should take that" and I still forgot to take it

27

u/DullPain 6h ago

Walking around like

2

u/putHimInTheCurry 20m ago

My picks for each ring: Acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen, loperamide, aspirin... Diphenhydramine, caffeine, meclizine, guaifenesin, and loratadine. Rate my setup.

69

u/DiamondBurInTheRough 8h ago

I immediately thought “Advil ring” when I saw this pic.

2

u/foreverandadayalone 5h ago

I thought "room for an aspirin (I'm old enough to take an aspirin every morning, proactively), a tictac, and an advil."

12

u/ndguardian 7h ago

My ubrelvy would be way too big for that. Now give me a giant ring like that and then we’re talking.

2

u/Tesnivy 6h ago

A bracelet version big enough to hold a Ubrelvy, maybe? I’d kill for a way to keep even one of those pills on me at all times. Real shame they gotta be kept refrigerated (at least the ones I take)

2

u/borbrained 1h ago

Huh? Ubrelvy is supposed to be kept at room temperature??

1

u/Tesnivy 17m ago

Wait, no you’re right, I just checked the packaging supposed to be stored at room-temperature??? Holy shit what miscommunication happened that I’ve been keeping it in the fridge this whole time???

Thanks for making me check, wtf where did I get that idea

12

u/loonygirl30 6h ago

As a migraine person myself, does sumatriptan work for anyone here? It makes mine worse and I throw up every time (even with the anti nausea medication).

6

u/Shhh-ItWasntMe 6h ago

Ive heard horror stories about sumatriptan and even though I was prescribed it, I was too afraid to try it. However, I had a migraine so bad while I was at my parents, I was willing to take anything. They didnt have sumatriptan there, but they had rizatriptan. I tried that and it worked absolute wonders for me. I am now prescribed that and take it all the time. A little too often if im being honest

3

u/JeffConvertorBot 6h ago

My partner started to get debilitating migraines daily once the triptan wore off from the day before. It's magic but definitely has side effects if you get into an every day stretch of migraines and your body becomes dependent on it. And eventually the triptan doesn't work as well. Just a word of caution!

1

u/Shhh-ItWasntMe 5h ago

Absolutely! This happens to me as well, they usually are less intense than the inital for me though. I also get some upper back stiffness after taking it

1

u/emugirl1994 18m ago

These are called rebound headaches. Basically your body freaks out from overuse of your migraine meds that it becomes so dependent any day without your migraine med you’ll get them.

It’s like ppl who are caffeine addicts who get withdrawal headaches when they don’t have any caffeine in their system.

Anyways I work at a pharmacy for a pretty big hospital health care system the doctors monitor this a lot they limit you to taking no more than 9 doses of a triptan in a month & if you go over that they refer you to a specialist in neurology where they put you on prophylactic preventative medication like propranolol or nortriptyline

1

u/loonygirl30 6h ago

I have to go back and get it changed. Thanks for letting me know shhh-itwasntme

5

u/Vox_Mortem 6h ago

Sumatriptan works for me most of the time, but the side effects are pretty crappy. I feel nauseous for hours afterward, and I get kind of a brain fog. Usually if I take one I immediately go try to fall asleep so I don't have to be awake for the worst of it. The shots were way better when I could get them, I would inject it and actually feel the moment the migraine melted away. The nausea was more acute, but it also went away faster.

But honestly, it was a lifesaver for me as a teenager. I was getting migraines every day, and this was back in the 90s so my doctor basically threw opiates at me and told me to sleep it off. Then Imitrex was released, and it was expensive, but it actually worked. Now they have better medications, but I always keep a few sumatriptan on hand as a last resort.

2

u/BetterandBetter123 6h ago

Most migraine meds make all the pressure come to a focal point on the bridge of my nose (I know it sounds weird), and it’s excruciating. Only thing that doesn’t make it hurt worse is if I take a Nurtec as soon as I notice symptoms

1

u/loonygirl30 6h ago

I think I saw the ad for this in TV.

1

u/BetterandBetter123 4h ago

Ask your doctor about it. Hopefully it works for you

1

u/loonygirl30 4h ago

Thank you.

2

u/joejacksonsbelt 6h ago

It works for me like magic, but does make me feel kinda funny after. It's the only triptan I've tried.

2

u/loonygirl30 6h ago

I’m glad it works for you.

2

u/random-person98754 6h ago

We have these on a necklace - safe in water and carry emergency pills everywhere.

2

u/Andy016 6h ago

Sumatriptan is ass and makes me feel much, much worse.

I've givin up on migraine meds and just use panandol and wait it out.

2

u/GMSB 4h ago

I find the excederin migraine pills work pretty well if I catch it early in the vision loss phase. They’re like 400 ibuprofen and 400 advil and a bit of caffeine

-1

u/bupropion-dxm-magic 56m ago

Wtf are you talking about, it’s paracetamol/acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine.

No ibuprofen in it. Btw ibuprofen and advil are the same thing, advil is a brand name. You sound so dumb.

1

u/GMSB 54m ago

You’re right thanks for the correction

1

u/loonygirl30 6h ago

This has been the case for me too, but my doctor swore migraine medication work better. I don’t know about panandol, is it over the counter?

2

u/Andy016 5h ago

I think you guys call it tylenol

Basic painkiller

1

u/loonygirl30 4h ago

Ohhhh, for some reason Tylenol doesn’t work, I use Advil (ibuprofen or mortrin). That works better for me.

1

u/NotMyThrowawayNope 4h ago

Have you tried other triptans? I hated sumatriptan, but rizatriptan works wonders for me without the side effects.

1

u/Remarkable_Rope_4264 1h ago

There are multiple variants of triptans. If one doesn’t work, you should try switching.

2

u/swarth_vader 3h ago

Look into ubrelvy. Nothing else worked for my wife but this kicked her almost daily migraines.

1

u/loonygirl30 3h ago

I might have to find a new doctor. Last time I asked her about changing medicine she increased my sumatriptan dose and added anti nausea.

3

u/swarth_vader 3h ago

Seriously, ubrelvy totally worked for my wife, whereas the triptans barely did anything. No side effects either.

1

u/loonygirl30 3h ago

That’s amazing to hear, I barely hear anyone tell me that a medication worked.

1

u/FriedaMaySallySue 1h ago

Can confirm. Ubrelvy is like magic. It’s a totally different type of drug than triptans and super effective for me with no side effects

1

u/Migraine_Megan 6h ago

Join us over at r/migraine. There are many different triptan options

2

u/loonygirl30 6h ago

Man, I don’t know how I missed this subreddit for years!

1

u/GiraffeInvasion 5h ago

If I take it early enough during the aura then yes it works. Once the headache comes there’s no stopping that train.

1

u/EpistemicEpidemic 5h ago

Rizatriptan works like magic for me. It takes 1+ hour to work usually, and I still feel sleepy most of the day but so much better than it used to be without it.

1

u/PMYourTitsIfNotRacst 5h ago

For me it's the other way around. Sumatriptan works where others won't, it's more available and less expensive than other options.

I usually have to go straight to 200mgs though. And my migraines are usually sinus migraines.

1

u/loonygirl30 5h ago

I’ll talk to my doctor. I’m currently at only 50mg, but my migraines are full on.

1

u/i-love-tree-rats 4h ago

It works for me every time with no side effects. Sorry to hear folks who experienced side effects.

Once a month injections also helped.

1

u/ShiftyTimeParadigm 4h ago

It works if I have an aura and take it immediately…but…sometimes I don’t have the aura and other times I do and it’s silent (no pain but still neuro symptoms)

It’s a crapshoot

1

u/PanamGotMeOiledUp 3h ago edited 3h ago

Have you tried "Thomapyrin INTENSIVE"? They are considered some of the best over here.

I checked Google and it says the equivalent is "Excedrin Extra Strength" for you as an American, same ingredients but slightly more Coffein.

1

u/wordsforpennies 1h ago

Sumatriptan no. Rizatriptan hell yes.

1

u/Glitter_berries 1h ago

Sumatriptan works amazingly well for me. But I believe there are different types of triptan medications that you could maybe try instead?

1

u/koinu-chan_love 1h ago

I like rizatriptan more. I got a lot of weird side effects with sumatriptan and I was reluctant to take it.

49

u/Electrical-Scholar32 7h ago

Shit, the way my life’s been going I’d put some fucking Xanax in that hoe….

7

u/stormblessed579 7h ago

I recently procured a cute decorative pill case and it definitely adds whimsy to my medication travel stash

5

u/Gryffinwhore83 7h ago

I have one of these, I keep a single Advil in it

9

u/Other-Cantaloupe4765 7h ago

I have chronic migraine and I’m allergic to triptans, so it certainly would poison me lol.

1

u/coahman 6h ago

Have you found anything else that works for you?

0

u/CamelopardalisKramer 6h ago

If you haven't tried it ubrogepant works well for those that triptans are unusable for.

1

u/ColonelDucroix 5h ago

I take an emgality shot every month. It prevents 90% of my migraines and headaches. And the ones I do get are nowhere near as bad or long lasting as they used to be

6

u/OneGayPigeon 7h ago

My pills (Ubrelvy) are waaaay to big to fit even a single one in something like this lol

1

u/yazmataz09 7h ago

mmmm ubrelvy

1

u/buttercream-gang 7h ago

Yeah those and qlipta. I have tried so many and none have worked!,

2

u/elijaaaaah 7h ago

I used to use a metal container for my hydroxyzine (to have on me for allergic reactions) and, unfortunately, it kind of powders it over time if it's in there too long. That was a keychain -- I think a ring would be even worse since your hands move so much. (Swapped to plastic, seems fine so far)

2

u/Zealousideal-Day4863 4h ago

Until "triptans," I thought you meant we could put poison in there because migraines make me want to cease existing.

2

u/Migraine_Megan 4h ago

Mine make me want other people to cease existing

1

u/sir_stronghand 7h ago

Username checks out. Migraines are awful and I’m sorry you experience them regularly

1

u/punkin_spice_latte 7h ago

I wonder if you could fold up the blister pack enough to fit in there

1

u/golfzerodelta 6h ago

That was my first thought 😅

1

u/snak_attak 6h ago

You’re onto something here

1

u/merryjoanna 5h ago

My boyfriend could use one for Omeprazole.

1

u/unlimitedwarrenty 5h ago

I’m literally on Etsy looking these up to do this exact thing! I’m always carrying my pill case everywhere, this would make it easier to leave a purse at home if I want to.

1

u/Gbrown546 3h ago

Do people with migraines not have pockets?

1

u/WeWander_ 57m ago

I need meclizine and crystalized ginger with my triptan so I don't think it would work for me 😭
