So? The assignment doesn't say "AI is bad" it says not to use it to complete your test or quiz. Regardless of personal opinions on AI, this isn't internally inconsistent with itself.
Someone can be pro AI and still want you to complete academic work without it.
It's like saying using a calculator or the internet isn't allowed on a test. While the teacher uses those things to make or grade it. No problem with it
That's like open book exams I had in colllege. All the information is there. It's just that if you have to look things up beyond a note sheet you created with all the relevant equations on it, you will never get done in time. The professor was basically like, "try it and you'll fail, but you can try it." If you somehow were familiar enough with your notes and the textbook that you could look everything up uick enough, that means you studied hard enough that you know the content anyways.
There's an inherent "cigarettes are bad for your health" argument there that is internally inconsistent. That's why I pointed out that this isn't saying AI is bad, you just can't use it to do your academic work because you won't learn if you do.
Oh yeah I'm get it. I'm not a fan of AI personally, I just think there's no real logical inconsistency or infuriating piece to what is here. It's more ironic as another commenter stated.
I think the point is that OP is against AI generated images. I'm against them too. They pointed out the irony of saying AI is not allowed while using AI to generate an image. Totally unnecessary usage of AI. Comparing this to the usage of calculators or internet is unrelated, you don't use the calculator to write the warning, no irony here. The point of the image being infuriating is the teacher using slop to say students shouldn't use AI. Image generation is one of the worst usages of AI
Pairing it with the test implies that the test asking you to not use AI is an important variable. If it was just saying "AI is bad" while using AI, I would agree. But the point is they are asking you to just not use it on the test. This is why I said it's not internally inconsistent. There's plenty of other AI examples one could use to indicate one's level of dislike for AI, but they intentionally chose this to draw a connection between the use of ai and request not to use ai. I think it's perfectly reasonable to point out the problem with using this example in that case.
